Its okay, but a big disappointment...., May 31 2004
As a huge fan of He-man and She-ra, I was disappointed with this movie. The big problem- the setting! It was a big mistake to go with Earth. Personally, I wanted to see how the people live on Eternia. We could have also seen interesting creatures and learned about a new world. Some might want to claim lack of technology, but there were plenty of special effects films made prior to the computer animation we know today. If Yoda could be brought to life back in the first trilogy from 1981 surely someone could have made a realistic Orko. But back on the subject of MOTU on earth, they could have also made a more interesting storyline if they insisted using Earth. He-man's mother, Queen Marlena, is FROM earth! The movie team obviously had no problem making this a more ADULT oriented film by adding more violence and drama, so they should have gone all the way and made it even more dramatic. It would have been interesting to see had Marlena been with the group how she'd react to being reunited with her old family on Earth. It would have been a nice sub-plot. Another thing I hated was the costumes. He-man with a cape? Yuck. And don't get me started on Teela's outfit. Then there's the introduction of new characters as opposed to using our favorite ones from the cartoon. I'm not sure, but I'm thinking there were leftover toys that Mattel needed to sell so they pushed for the film to use these new guys. Anyways, as a fan, I'll watch the movie sometimes when its on cable, but it was a disappointment then and its still a disappointment as an adult. The dialogue is cheesy and not in a good 80s way. The storyline lacks imagination, and one other thing to complain about...the laser guns! The people who made this film obviously didn't pay attention to the title--MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. There are good and evil warriors with specific skills and techniques they use for combat as any MOTU fan knows and for the characters to constantly use laser guns was just a slap in the face. Get this film if you're a fan one of the actors in it like Dolph, Courteney Cox, etc...but other than that, I don't find anything rewarding out of this film.

All grown up & back with a vengeance!, Nov 20 2003
I liked Britney Spears in the past, but now I LOVE the woman. First of all, let me say my taste in music is diverse. I love her in addition to Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, Guns N Roses, Janet Jackson, John Mayer, Eminem, etc... So I'm not just some britney fanatic that only listens to Britney's music. As a music lover, this album is phenominal! "In the Zone" takes Britney to a whole new level. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I love this album. Usually when I get a cd, I'll like a few tracks and end up skipping songs to get to another one, but I keep listening to this one all the way through to the end because every track is a favorite. It is THAT good. Its high energy music combining regular dance along with some hip hop. There's only one ballad at the end of the album but its a beautiful track and a great way to wind down just before you get to that remix of "me against the music" at the end. This album is also great if you need something to just pump you up for the day, or work out or to do whatever. Now obviously if you didn't like Britney before, then you probably won't ever like her, but if you're open minded, appreciated her work in the past and ready to 'get in the ZONE', BUY this cd! Its a MUST HAVE.

Entertaining, but not that great..., Aug 5 2003
This movie is entertaining and is good enough to pass time with, but I just didn't really care for this one that much. I love Ben and Jennifer G. but the movie just seemed OFF...like it was quickly thrown together. The dialogue was very so-so. The witty comments attempted are just so common that its no longer "witty". I also think certain characters were a waste of time...such as Ben's lawyer-friend sidekick. He's there for laughs, but I wasn't laughing. Plus, I HATED the way Jen and Ben meet. He's so anxious to find out this woman's name that he chases after her for really no reason and then they engage in a fight slash dance scene that was sooooo cheesy. I was expecting music from "Flashdance" and "Fame" to pop on anytime. The main villain...NOT scary. I had absolutely no feelings for the character whatsoever. They didn't really spend much time exploring that character. I'm not familiar with the comic book. I was more of a DC comics person growing up (though I LOVED the spider-man movie!). You should wait for this movie to come to HBO or something. Its really not worth the hype...unless you're a fan of the character.

Very disappointing...., July 3 2003
I missed this film when it hit theaters earlier this year, so I've been looking forward to renting this. I finally saw it last night and I've got to say this is a HUGE disappointment. There were a few laugh out loud scenes...like the rendition of "Total Eclipse" at the wedding, Will Ferrell being naked and then another scene when he almost drowns in a pool, but for the most part this movie was BORING. Like another reviewer said, L.Wilson does act the same way as he does in all of his movies. I really think he'd make a better dramatic actor. As for Will, I really expected Ferrell to make us laugh, but considering the "serious" personalities of the actors he had to work with, I think it affected his comedic ability. I say pass on this movie. You're not missing anything. Catch it if its on HBO or something...

FUN GAME!!, July 3 2003
I don't play a lot of video games, but I like the adventure ones like this. The underrated and highly enjoyable actor, Bruce Campbell, returns as Ash and voices his character in this game with his kick butt action and his witty, humorous remarks! You get a whole arsenal of weapons (you can use two at a time) including his infamous chainsaw, guns, sickles, dynamite, you name it... Kill thousands of demons as you go through a city in ruins from present day to even back to colonial times. I'm still playing it, but if you enjoyed the movies, you should probably enjoy the game. I did have to get help once I got inside the museum, but there are websites online to assist you for that (since there doesn't seem to be an official strategy guide). Anyways, if you like Resident Evil type stuff, get this.

HORRIBLE System! But what choice do we have?!, Jun 18 2003
I haven't played gamecube, but I have played the XBox. To compare that and Ps2, I personally don't notice THAT big of a difference in graphics. There are certain games as most of you know by now that are only exclusive to certain systems so you're forced to get whatever system to play those particular games. Now as for Ps2, I HATE IT! Not for the games but for the quality of the dvd player. You never know what dvds it'll play or won't play. I recently bought a Friends DVD collection. It played two of the 4 discs! The same with other various dvd collections. It also sometimes won't even read a simple CD! And this particular cd was not enhanced. It was a brand new cd (originally made in 1999) so it shouldn't have been a problem for ANY dvd/cd player to play. Even playstation one will play it!! Also, Ps2 advertises it can play your old playstation one games...of course in small print it'll remind us that it won't play "all" ps one games. Most of mine wouldn't work. Spyro, Xena...for example. Actually I managed to get Xena to play after repeatedly putting the disk in and out of the drive. But I haven't been able to get it working since then. So all in all, the system is horrible. But like I said, there's not a choice. We're stuck having to get the system for certain games. I expect BETTER from SONY products. This was a big disappointment. Now, as for Xbox, I did have similar issues as far as dvds go. AT least it remained consistent and wouldn't play an ENTIRE collection as opposed to playing correctly whenever it felt like it like Ps2. Also another plus for XBox is that you don't have to buy a memory card to save your games unless you wanna play your game on someone else's system. Just be prepared for alot of hastle if you get Ps2! Unless there's a DIE HARD game you have to play, skip the Ps2 and go with the XBox.

This is one of the BEST albums ever made in music history!, Jun 2 2003
I can't believe that some people think of Wilson Phillips as being cheesy pop music. These girls know how to write and they know how to sing! They also had the fortunes of working with producer Glen Ballard whom you all may know as Alanis Morissette's producer for "Jagged Little Pill". I noticed whenever magazines review Ballard's works, they leave out the fact that he worked on this debut for Wilson Phillips. Its a phenominal album and any music critic should recognize this as being one of the best albums ever made. The music is melodically gifted with beautiful lyrics. This was a VERY successful album which spawned 4 number one singles - "hold on", "release me", "impulsive", and "you're in love". Actually I can't remember if "impulsive" went number one, but top 10 nonetheless. Plus, it includes the top 40 hit, "dream is still alive". But that isn't even where the hits stop! Even the songs that weren't released are favorites! A great remake of "A Reason to Believe", the powerful lyrics of "Eyes Like Twins", and a couple more tracks being led vocally by Carnie "Over & Over" and "Someday I'll be Next To you"...also great songs. The only track I don't really care for is "Ooh you're gold". To me the songs sounds out of place with everything else, but it still doesn't make this album any less amazing. BUY IT! If you like pop music at its best like Abba, Erasure, Fleetwood Mac, Madonna, Cher, etc... you can't go wrong with this one.

Great Horror flick! Should be on TV!, Jun 2 2003
Let me sum it up. I liked the movie. It had action, violence, suspense, drama... I cared about the characters. I also think the story has the potential to be a television series, perhaps on HBO so it could keep certain elements like the nudity (girl on girl action for those of you drooling for that) and the violence. The actual dialogue...well, it was alright. Nothing spectacular but this movie is definitely among the better "b" rated horror flicks. HOWEVER, I personally wouldn't spend the 31 dollars to buy it. Just rent it first to see if its worth being a part of your collection.

A Beautiful, mellowed out Madonna experience, BUT..., May 14 2003
I've read some of the other reviews and I have to say for myself, I LOVE the album. The songs are thoughtful and personal AS are most of her songs throughout her career span. Favorite tracks - "I'm So Stupid" & "Nothing Fails". However, if you're wanting to hear songs like "express yourself", you're not gonna find it here. This album won't appeal to alot of people. Maybe with the right music videos behind certain radio friendly songs, but other than that, I don't see this album being a big success commercially. But hey, who cares. What's important is the music itself and its brilliant...Still on a personal level, my admiration of her has changed a little. I don't like the way she's handled the promotion of the album. I HATE the fact that she pulled the original "american life" video. Madonna is a VIDEO artist. True, MTV doesn't play her videos like they did in the past, but she's known for her innovative videos as well as the music itself. One of the reasons I love Madonna is for the fact that she wasn't afraid to speak her mind. This time around, she caved in, and it leaves this album tainted. She doesn't have to be 'shocking', but I do want her to be honest with her work. Otherwise, she's just like everyone else. The Madonna we fell in love with is a leader. I'm hoping this is just a strategic move on her part thinking that she can release this on DVD and make some money from it because that video, from the clips I saw, looks phenomenal and deserves to be shown one way or the other.

Kelly Clarkson is worthy of being our American Idol!, May 4 2003
Kelly Clarkson is not just some talent show contest with a one shot opportunity. She IS a superstar. She not only has the beauty and sweet personality, she's got the talent to back it up. Her voice is sultry and powerful...and she's going to be around a long time. I know American Idol comes off a little cheesy, but the show did its job by giving us Kelly Clarkson. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that she even co-wrote a few of the tracks on this cd. Although all of the tracks are a great listen, after listening a few times, I have to say my favorite track (at least at the moment) is "Just Missed the Train" which is a mid tempo rock ballad. Another track to note, "You Thought Wrong" features fellow American Idol contestant Tamyra Gray which goes right up there with other diva duets like "The Boy is Mine", "Enough is Enough" and "Does He Love You" (which if you can find it, there's a live version of that song featuring Reba with Miss Kelly Clarkson). Anyway, if you want great music with a sweet blend of pop, soul and rock, order this cd...it's worth the money.
