4.0 out of 5 stars It's like this..., April 7 2004
This review is from: Internal Exile (Audio CD)
you either Love FISH or you don't. it's that simple. those of us here in the United States who have been lucky enough to catch this underpromoted musical genius doing his thing have been rewarded.

Internal Exile was Fish's second solo album, and it is a bit more mature then it's predecesser. He strteches out on the excellent opening track SHADOWPLAY and takes the listener on a good ride for the next 50 or so minutes.

I love FISH as a performer. He doesn't care about the trappings of the music biz. He does his own thing in his own time. Support this much maligned and underappreciated artist while serving yourself to an enjoyable musical experience.

I am an out-and-out DEEP PURPLE fanatic. I am familiar with every studio recording, band member, and a load of live shows. WDWTWA gets more play time than any other DP CD in my collection. It's that good!

This album is quite simply the greatest work by everyone involved.

Ronnie James Dio sings his ass off

Blackmore, after years of stagnating in a waning Deep Purple, wakes up and delivers some unbelievable playing. Stargazer especially shows an uncaged Richie at the height of his powers.

Cozy Powell (RIP) If there is a better drummer from the NWOBHM please tell me who he is. He rules on this album, and delivers another in a string of fine performances.

Tony Carey had his work cut out for him. Playing a lead instrument with Blackmore around is a daunting task for any keyboard player (in other words: only the strong survive). Carey hits it out of the ballpark especially on Tarot Woman.

Jimmy Bain is a solid bass player and is still with Dio, good work here by a Journeyman.

I put it in the top ten Hard Rock/Heavy Metal albums of all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blackmore Fans... Don't Let Steve Morse Scare You, May 30 2003
If you are a true Deep Purple fan, you have to accept the fact that Richie Blackmore left the band over a decade ago, and that Steve Morse (Axeman Extrodinaire) is here to stay. This DVD is a brilliant document of the Abandon tour, and every member of the band show off their amazing musical abilities. Steve Morse is ON FIRE... Not since Eddie Van Halen have I seen a musician excercise ABSOLUTE COMMAND over his instrument like he does. Blackmore's playing had a very distinct style, yet Steve Morse has the uncanny ability to integrate aspects of RB's playing with his own to form a very interesting hybrid. This Band has been [successful] all over the world for more than three decades for one simple reason: their members are amoung the most talented musicians in Rock & Roll. This DVD (which has excellent production values and sound) is a testament to the greatness of this band. Play it for your friends and make believers of them all.
