Barely makes the grade, Mar 23 2001
I have to agree with "the viewer" review- her videos tend to lack the emotional intensity of her Live performances. If you ask me, her best performances are her live performances. The videos used to be exciting to watch for the first time, but it quickly gets old and worn out becuase either it's lacking in plot or it's just not the version we want- case in point- "Because you loved me" should have been the original video and not the live performance, where in this case, the original video was clearly very well done,on the other hand, My heart will go on and the latest songs (if walls could talk) are just plain boring, if not very lavish and slick, but still boring because there's no plot. The only standout is "It's all coming back to me" but one wish there weren't that many steamy scenes in this DVD collection. First of all, there are bedroom scenes in that video and then we get the Leonardo and Kate car scene in "My heart will go on" This is not a Madonna video- and certainly we have seen that car scene in Titanic many times over. Celine is not a prude but her videos have been decent until they had to impose (mild but present) sexual references to make them sell. All in all, anything is better than this coukd-have-been-better package. Sorry, this doesn't make the grade.

OK...this barely makes it by Toni Standards, Mar 12 2001
I bought this debut on the strength of the utterly slick and catchy Secrets and The Heat by Toni Braxton. Well it's old fashioned 90s R&B but it just doesn't have the catchy tunes nor the heartstopping ballads...most of the tunes sound like B sides to me save for the average 'Breathe Again'. Anyway, Toni sounds and looks better with each record so please understand that if you're an MOR person- go get the later albums, this one is more for the critics.

Can't wait for more* * * *, Mar 8 2001
This is a great CD but I think the word 'great' has become so overused that, well anyway, believe it or not, the songs are incredibly 'hooky' (ya know great hooks and all), catchy, lots of that low-tone singing and pitch fluctuations, but it's good, case-in-point: "He wasn't... (which I still think should have been "She wasn't good enough for me, nuff' with putting down the male race *think Shania Twain*)...and I'm Still Breathing, Spanish Guitar. Hm, lotsa feminist views here but anyway Toni looks great, sounds great. How about a gospel/Christmas album next, please?

Excellent Streisand Performance!!!, Sep 29 2000
Barbra Streisand's Latest release is HOT!!! Performing all her hits from her first recordings to Broadway to movies and duets- this is a collection of her material from the beginning of her career to present day. It's amazing that she sounds better than ever before- the jokes, the songs, the guest singers (like Lauren Frost) and she still sings at that light speed trademark energetic powerhouse style evident in songs like 'Don't Rain on My Parade' to emotive slow ballads like 'Alfie' and 'The Way We Were'... If you missed this truly TIMELESS concert- or her comeback show in 1994, get this CD and relive the magical voice of this evergreen singer. Just one gripe- Barbra's Ego shows up every now and then but then again, that's our Barbra! Something wonderful indeed!

A Titanic Dream Come True, Aug 7 2000
Beautiful songs. Old and new songs alike, they sound so much better than anything the newcomers have put together recently. Some people say that Celine will be upstaged by a new upstart but having listened to that upstart's record, i don't think so. Vocally, Celine holds her own and her reneditions of classic songs like "All The Way" and "The First Time Ever" are terrific, not the best. Not the worst either! Still i wish there were more songs from her Unison album (on this record, there are none of them) What happened to "Where Does My Heart Beat Now"? And for goodness sake, Sony release that video already! Whitney and Mariah Carey have their home video releases, so where is Celine's? Also what happened to unreleased material like "Listen to me", "Voices That Care", "Wishful Thinking"? Still the new songs make up for this huge void. If you want to know how to seperate the good ones from the pseudo-good ones, play this CD after listening to you-know-who-they-are...you'll hear the difference and you'll know why Celine will still keep her title as reigning pop diva after all. So long, pretenders...let's just see who holds out longer than the other.
