2.0 out of 5 stars NOT MAGICAL at All., Nov. 1 2012

I must agree with the reader from Australia.
If you are searching to acquire literature regarding the concepts of the LAW OF ATTRACTION and of self awareness, then do not be fooled by this title.
I strongly suggest for you to invest your time and money upon another book and pass over this predictable literary disaster.

The editor seeks to mask the author's lack of overall knowledge regarding the subject matter.

The publisher and editor attempt to pointlessly expand the flimsy content of this book so they can justify its price point.
Why and how anyone supposedly informed upon a topic has the need to obtain references from an unreliable public source such as Wikipedia is beyond comprehension.
It is as if the publisher informed this author to urgently increase the overall page count prior to publishing the book.

The author drones endlessly upon certain topics that provide no informative substance to the readers.
She awkwardly touches upon subjects such as subliminal advertising with all the flair and literary fluency of a first year University marketing student.

The editor has even placed a very evident and awkward display of subliminal advertising upon each page of the book; you will notice the word "Love" (as in please Love my Book) placed upon each and every page of the this book in the form of an animated caricature.

There are far more informative books currently out on the market that do not talk down to their readers, maybe the author should read them prior to trying to write a sequel to this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Much Bubble simply Drowning Musically in Flat Champagne, Jan. 18 2012
This review is from: BUBBLEBATH & CHAMPAGNE (Audio CD)
This recent release from the former professed Quebecoise rocker is a sadly misguided musical affair.

It musically misfires from the starting gate and is nothing more than an obvious last ditch attempt on the part of her label to maintain France's visibility within Quebec.
Nobody can deny that D'Amour is vocally gifted; however the collection of original songs found upon this compilation are melodically tired & lyrically hollow.
Some may profess that she is trying to capture a musical vibe of a former era yet the overall quality of the material is clumsy at best.

Her diction on key melodies such as "What the World Needs Now" from Bacharach is not so much charming as it is grating.
How many versions of that specific 60s pop melody does the world really need?

Possibly her producers were trying to capture the "crooner" appeal & popularity of a Buble and Connick Jr. collection of songs yet they produced a product that is worthy of being snubbed by the public as well as to be ignored by radio.

Sadly this is not the musical vehicle that can cavalcade her rise to the international level of Dion.
Maybe she should attempt to perform English material that does justice to her vocal strength - pop rock.
The entire production is laughable and plays as being very amateurish.
One would be best to invest on a timeless Ella Fitzgerald compilation than waste any money and or time listening to this dribble.

4.0 out of 5 stars SCISSOR SISTER's little brother?, Nov. 18 2010
This review is from: Wide Awake (Audio CD)
Joe McElderry is the young vocalist who was crowned the winner of "The X-Factor" in the U.K. during the spring of 2010.

Suprisingly, Joe McElderry's crystal clear high tenor vocals are perfectly suited for "High Energy" pop tracks although he did become known foremost for performing mostly ballads while competing on the show.

Fans of the band "Scissor Sister" should find much to appreciate upon McElderry's first solo full length release.
The CD has been carefully produced by masterful pop producers who opted to craft an androgynous pop feel with McElderry - possibly inspired & influenced by the global success of the band "SCISSOR SISTER".

The immediate standout tracks are: "Feel The Love" which curiously has the same 80s dance beat as Bowie's hit "Modern Love"; "Fahrenheit" a song that could easily be mistaken for a classic Scissor Sister's track; "Ambitions" a straight forward pop track that became his first radio release from "Wide Awake"; "Till The Stars Run Out" perfectly mashes musical bits of George Michael's 80s hit "Faith" into its melody line; "Wide Awake" the title track has a pop "boy band" feel yet remains restrained and somewhat musically mature.
For a change of pace, Mc Elderry also performs a vocally haunting rendition of Five For Fighting's hit "Superman".

Unfortunately, the only misfire track upon this CD is the bonus track, "The Climb", which was hastily rushed to radio by Sony/UK in early 2010 only 2 days following his win on The X-Factor.
"The Climb" became a solid radio hit in the UK due in part to the draw and appeal of the reality show but it does not blend well with the fun spirit of this release and sounds dated in retrospect.
And yes - "The Climb" is unfortunately the same saccharin ballad that was a minor radio hit within North America for Miley Cyrus.

Yet all in all this is a well-produced pop release that is worthy of owning.

4.0 out of 5 stars THE ROYAL RETURN OF DAME EDNA, Sept. 22 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
For those who have enjoyed watching the typical dry BRIT humour of the "DAME EDNA EXPERIENCE" talk shows when they were first aired in North America - you can once again view these informal & basically improvisational comedy shows in their entirety.

The quality of the DVD transfer is impeccable.
This five pack DVD collection arrives within a box that will house all the DVDs.
They are divided into; Season 1, Season 2 and the Christmas Specials.

It is interesting to see how various artists/celebrities have changed and aged badly with time. There are a wide variety of artists to enjoy as they are being cornered by a mouthy Edna (some now officially are labelled as "has been").

Her side kick, punch-line & ex- bride-maid Madge Button is also in several of the episodes.

You'll laugh out loud as DAME EDNA takes on such self centred celebrities as ZSA ZSA GABOR and mocks her infamous 80s incident with a Californian traffic cop directly to the clueless face of Ms. Gabor.

This five BBC CD collection - also includes the DAME EDNA CHRISTMAS SPECIALS (which is also available separately).

If you enjoy the irreverent & witty humour often found within British comedies then you owe it to yourself to become acquainted with the grand dame from Down Under.

It's never a "DRAG" when one has a good laugh!

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BIG SEA - MOVE OVER !, Sept. 22 2010
This review is from: Sigh No More (Audio CD)
Mumford & Sons is a folk rock band formed in 2007 and rose out of the emerging UK folk scene. They are heavily inspired by a wide range of folk rock acts who dominated the charts in the early 1970s.

The band's debut album, Sigh No More, was released in the UK in the fall of 2009, and in the early spring of 2010 in North America.
With an addictively naive bar band approach to orchestration, they are currently the darlings of the UK's music elite.

The material on this release will instantly command the attention of the North American public at large while conjuring up a wide gamut of musical comparisons to such artists as GREAT BIG SEA, THE NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND and even to a degree CAT STEVENS.

Even if their label desperately wants to draw up parallels to CSNY - upon this release they do not constantly demonstrate the same harmonious devotion to vocal synchronization as did CSNY.

The sole song that truly does mirror the sound of CSNY is the track "TIMSHEL" while
the tracks "AFTER THE STORM" & "THE CAVE" have a definite 1970s Cat Stevens vibe.

Mumford & Sons is more of "good-time" & "male bonding" band - and there is nothing wrong with that.
They currently defy all musical odds and trends by being unique and quirky.
Such is the case with the introduction of the mandolin into several of their folk rock compositions!

The tracks recorded upon this release are musically sculpted & geared towards encouraging the non "metro sexual" male to become inspired & to get up and dance to uptempo songs that reflect the carefree atmosphere of a local pub.

MUMFORD & SONS are a true feel good band with the ideal musical product to inspire and promote "male bonding" & "beer drinking".

5.0 out of 5 stars HURTS SO GOOD with pure MUSICAL HAPPINESS, Sept. 16 2010
This review is from: Happiness (Audio CD)
The bulk of the material located on the release "Happiness" is eloquent and nothing less than musically inspiring. A collection of songs that reach beyond the current standards found within modern pop music in 2010.

The synth-pop orchestration of HURTS is reminiscent to that of the 80s new-wave era and will instantly evoke comparisons to a roster of prominent 80s pop acts such as Depeche Mode, Erasure & Talk Talk while continuing to mash in a current sound reminiscent to that of Onerepublic, Muse and even Coldplay.

Every song on this release is done on a grand level that is significantly melodic and instantly memorable.

With the release of "Happiness" , Hurts will develop their own steadfast following due in part to their massive musical anthems such as the tracks "Stay", "Unspoken", "Wonderful Life","Silver Lining" and "Bold, Tears and Gold".

The track "DEVOTION" with guest vocalist Kylie Minogue is a delightful musical burst that caters to the fans of MUSE and ENIGMA.

In today's disposable and download market, seldom does the consumer discover new musical act with material that will quench their musical thirst for new exciting music.
"Happiness" however is a CD from an up and coming musical force that is not only worthy of discovering but of also purchasing.

This is one CD that you will want to insert into your musical library.

It is filled with a timeless musical production that warrants being recognized by the public at large.

5.0 out of 5 stars SEASON FOUR is a comedic delight!, June 9 2010
The fourth season of this witty American sitcom that originally aired on the CBS network was awarded a total of five Emmys; Supporting Comedic Actress went to Cloris Leachman as Phylis (THE LARS AFFAIR) and Mary Tyler Moore for Best Comedic Lead actress (2nd year in a row).

The Mary Tyler Moore Show remained solidly anchored within the top 10 of the Neilsen ratings during the run of it's fourth season on CBS.
This season contains several timeless & hilarious episodes such as; TED BAXTER MEETS WALTER CRONKITE, ALMOST A NUN (Georgette considers becoming a Nun) as well as THE LARS AFFAIR and THE LOU AND EDIE STORY.

During the fourth season, Valerie Harper (Rhoda) is still a cast member with this ensemble and has an episode (RHODA'S SISTER GETS MARRIED) devoted to showcasing her comedic chemistry with Moore.

If you were a fan of this show during its original run on CBS, you'll appreciate the opportunity of personally owning these episodes and placing them within your home library.

Fox finally opted to release the remaining seasons validating that this show shall always be considered as one of the most enduring comedy to have aired on American network television.

The writing is brilliant and still holds up through the decades.

3.0 out of 5 stars A TYPICALLY 60s FLOWER POWER SOUND, June 8 2010
PEPERMINT RAINBOW is an American formation from Baltimore Maryland that came to public attention during the final glory days of the 60s "Flower Power" sound.
They obtained an official international recording contract with DECCA at the request of a fan and avid supporter; CASS ELLIOTT (aka: Mama Cass).

Pepermint Rainbow's vocal harmonies were musically influenced and drew their inspiration from the vocal arrangements of the MAMAS & PAPAS.

Their singles never really made much of a huge impact upon the charts yet, in retrospect, they remain representative of the Peace Love vibe from the late 60s and thus become interesting to insert into a personal music library.

Their second single "Will You Be Staying After Sunday" peaked at #32 on Billboard in 1969.
"Don't Wake Me Up in the Morning, Michael" only hit as high as #54.

If you were a fan of the Mamas and Papas and still hunger for the sound of the Flower Power Generation then you will want to purchase this release.

4.0 out of 5 stars You like the show ? You'll LOVE the music !, June 3 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you are amongst the ever growing fans of the show "Glee" then you are very familiar with the track listing upon this latest release.
Should you be living in a cave and are curious as to the frenzy surrounding the pop phenomena that is "Glee" then this CD will musically provide with insight into the reason behind the frenzy.

One of the numerous highlights upon this fourth release in the Glee series are the tracks performed by Broadway's Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel (from Broadway's "Wicked").

Adult fans over the age of 30 will appreciate a rejuvenated remake of the 80s monster hit - "Physical" featuring Olivia Newton-John and Jane Lynch (Sue).

The musical producers of Glee know how to reinvent tired pop standards - a perfect example is their take on Bonnie Tyler's standard 80s hit "Total Eclipse of The Heart". Having shared the lead vocals between two vocalists, Lea Michele and Corey Monteith, is inspiring and enables the song to take on a new dimension and no longer sound as dated.

On this release - the cast of Glee insert material from all musical spectrums that gloss over several decades.

There are classic tracks from the Burt Bacharach 60s musical catalogue to rock (U2, Kiss and Aerosmith) with a dash of 80s new wave (Men without Hats) to classic standards from Broadway.

Once again the stand out vocalists amongst the cast remain; Amber Riley, Matthew Morrison and the infamous "Lea Michele".

4.0 out of 5 stars A GRACEful Comeback, May 31 2010
This review is from: Hurricane (Audio CD)
Grace Jones has never been acclaimed for being a wonderful female vocalist yet she has been recognised by many critics for constantly stimulating her die hard fan base with material that is notoriously provocative and unique.

On Hurricane, Grace continues to defy musical trends while proudly creating her own throbbing musical vibe.

In the mid 1970s, Grace attempted to impact & influence the early sounds of Disco then during the 1980s she truly began to harness her distinctive musical energy toward the gay club scene alongside other exclusive artists such as; Nena Hagen and Lene Lovich.

Grace may have aged but upon her current release "Hurricane" she remains musically unique, youthful, refreshing and highly inspirational.

Grace is still sensual when vocally flirting with a melody line yet she never conforms to any popular musical trends.
The track listing on Hurricane is sumptuously dark, raw, intense and guaranteed to not disappoint her fan base.

If you appreciated her glory era ("Warm Leatherette" & "Pull Up To The Bumper") - then you'll appreciate every track upon this CD.

This is not a product that will appeal to the masses but her true musical fans will welcome the opportunity of familiarizing themselves with the crop of new tracks from an indisputably provocative Grace.
