5.0 out of 5 stars Posthumous masterpiece, Nov. 19 2007
This review is from: New Moon (Audio CD)
"Elliott smith has a new cd coming out? Who does he think he is, Tupac?" No, he is not Tupac or any of the other dead artists who keep having lousy music released under their name, even though the bottom of the barrel has been scraped clean through. This is a bunch of tunes recorded between 1994 and 1997. Not scraps of songs that were left unfinished with his death.

There are only a few tracks here that are of less than fantastic recording quality. One of them is placeholder. It sounds almost as if it was recorded on a tapedeck, but that adds to it's beauty and intensity, it is definitely one of the highlights of this two disc set.

So, these are real songs that just never saw the light of day and they are of pretty good technical and artistic quality. Everything that made Elliott who is was is here and so you should buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars 18 stars for 18 tracks, Oct. 5 2007
The eighteen tracks that make up this cd are great. For a first time listener, you'll hear a ton of good songs that you may recognize from the radio, but didn't know who sang them.

Why is Bruce Springsteen so cool? I'm not sure, but he definitely is.

Some of the highlights among the highlights are born to run, the river and atlantic city. The latter two are moody acoustic ballads that remind me of early Dylan. Then you move into the eighties. A notoriously terrible time in music history, Bruce has some of his best songs from that period, including glory days and born in the usa.

Basically, if you like music of the classic rock variety, that still feels fresh, pick this up. But only if you have enough money to buy several more albums, because the little taste you get of each record just won't be enough to satisfy you.

A Prayer for Owen Meany

5.0 out of 5 stars Irving's best, Sept. 27 2007
Have you ever read a book that was so good you read everything else that author wrote hoping against hope that there was another gem in there somewhere? This is that book. It is all heart and soul and I love it immensely. So I keep buying more of John Irvings books, but... Nothing else he has written even comes close. Not to put down his other books, because I enjoyed them all to a certain degree, but this one punches me in the stomach every time, and the others lack that "giddy up". But I would argue that this is one of the best books written by anyone in the last twenty years, a real classic that should be remembered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Science Fiction?, Sept. 27 2007
If you want a description of the plot on this novel, you'll need to read another review. What I want to say is that I didn't know "science fiction" could be this good. Don't get me wrong, I have read more than a few sci fi books in my life, but despite the futuristic setting (though not so far in the future now as it was when written in the 50's) this book reads like a classic. It has all the heart and soul of any other piece of "literature", it sits on my shelf next to John Steinbeck and Charles Dickens and rightfully has a place with them. There is a sublime beauty and intricacy present here. It is an an easy read, but it's full of intelligent thoughts and heart felt sincerity.

5.0 out of 5 stars 60% of south park aint bad, Sept. 26 2007
Here's a quote from an episode commentary: "60% of south park ain't bad." And that's what the creators of this show think it is. But I think that it is funnier, ruder, more disgusting and way more terrible.

The premise is that they bring together eight different cartoon characters and put them in a real world, big brother type show. But it is pretty much a spoof of every reality show, and more.

If you love cartoons with swearing and nudity (male, female, pig and other), than you will love this show. Otherwise, you will condemn the creators and writers to burning in hell for the awful, ignorant, insensative things that this show is packed with. I can't repeat any of the jokes here for fear of reprimand, but if this review hasn't turned you against drawn together, then dive in and get the awesome first season.

4.0 out of 5 stars the continuing of the franchise, Sept. 26 2007
They started off as cute, round faced turtles with their original show from 87, then were reborn in 2003 anime style and that evolved into Fast Forward, where the turtles are a hundred years in the future.

Once you get past the new laser weapons they have (including laser nunchuks for Mikey) the plots aren't any more over the top than any of the other incarnations. There are just new and different bad guys, no shredder or krang anymore. I would encourage turtle fans to give this one a chance, because I think it's still pretty good, and a lot of fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Turtle Power, Sept. 3 2007
I would have to give this five stars just for the awesome packaging! It comes in a little mini pizza box that folds open. Totally awesome dude! While perhaps the story ideas had gone a bit down hill by the time they got to season five, they were still pretty entertaining!

These are the episodes included in this three disc set:

Donatello's Badd Time
Donatello's Duplicate
My Brother, the Bad Guy
Enter: Mutagen Man
Napoleon Bonafrog: Colossus of the Swamps
Michaelangelo Meets Mondo Gecko
Michaelangelo Meets Bugman Again
Leonardo Cuts Loose
Muckman Messes Up
The Ice Creature Cometh
Zach and the Alien Invaders
Raphael Versus the Volcano
Raphael, Turtle of a Thousand Faces
Pirate Radio
Landlord of the Flies
Leonardo, The Renaissance Turtle
Welcome Back, Polarisoids
Michaelangelo, the Sacred Turtle

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome movie that fits with the old ones, Sept. 3 2007
This review is from: TMNT (Bilingual) [Import] (DVD)
I would give this movie ten stars if I could, but I can't, unfortunately. Once you get past the fact that they look more like frogs than turtles, you will enjoy the rest of the movie. It's full of humour and great action. In one respect, it's actually better than the original trilogy. The turtles all have different personalities, like in the cartoons. Mikey is the dorky slacker, Donatello is the guy that is good with gadgets, Leo is the somber leader and Raphael is the angry bitter guy who risks everything.

A fantastic story, well told that can be watched over and over. Any turtles fan should love this one.

First of all this should be called Volume 6, not season six. This is the last volume of the original tv show before they decided to start putting them out in seasons. I wish they had started putting the seasons out from the beginning, but...

Here is a list of episodes from this volume

The Turtle Terminator
The Great Boldini
The Missing Map
The Gang's All Here
The Grybyx
Mr. Ogg Goes To Town
Shredderville
Bye, Bye Fly
The Big Rip Off
The Big Break In
The Big Blow Out
Plan Six From Outer Space

These episodes, along with those from volume three, four and five, make the complete third season of the wickedly awesome show!
