If You Find Boredom To Be Scary..., Jun 6 2013
I am a huge fan of the original and I'm also a huge fan of sequels. I went into it expecting to like it even if it suffered from sequelitus. It wasn't just that though, it was incredibly boring to sit through. I kept thinking it would pick up... but it never did. I recommend waiting for the bargain bin if you plan to see this title.

Very, very, VERY low budget for 9th Hellraiser, Dec 17 2011
I am a big horror fan. I'm very forgiving of sequels and their shortfalls. I had been following the development of this entry in the Hellraiser series, the 9th, to be exact. The film was thrown together in a couple of weeks to retain copyrights or something like that... You can research it on Bloody Disgusting or Wikipedia. I knew going in that this movie was going to be very limited in what it could pull off with the resources available in the time frame given... The movie itself looks low-budget. The acting is sub-par. The story doesn't do anything exciting for the mythology of Hellraiser. But I was able to find ways to enjoy it. I like that it went back to the roots of Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II with bringing back the dead, one layer at a time. I'm glad I bought it... I'm actually going to watch it right now. My word of advice to everyone else: Unless you're a collector or diehard fan, you may want to rent this one.

The Howling... Still alive and kicking!, Dec 17 2011
I was more than excited to find out a new Howling sequel was in the works. The series, with the except of the first, has been a long train wreck of entries... Trashy, low-budget werewolf movies that I have a soft spot for, despite their short comings. This is the 8th entry in the series. Rather than draw from the awesomeness of the original 1981 film, this one decides to ride Twilight's coattails. It's unfortunate because The Howling should not need to use another brand to be worthwhile. That said, it is what it is and if you're a fan like I am, it's a wonder an 8th movie was made at all! I prefer Blu-ray purchases of course, however the DVD has a cool slipcase with a matte/embossed/foil combo finish. The Blu-ray did not have any special packaging so I left it on the shelf. If you're a Howling fan for the sake of it or if you liked Twilight and you're open to a grittier knock-off, you may like this.

The Wrong Turn Series is restored!, Dec 17 2011
After suffering a significant decline in quality/resources for Wrong Turn 3, Wrong Turn 4 brings the series back with a bang. Don't expect much from the acting or the story... It's pretty predictable. Go in with a light-hearted attitude and expect some silly camp. The ending was awesome. I think what bothered me about this movie that I can't seem to get over... The girl who sets out on skis in the storm to get help doesn't put up her hood! SPOILER ALERT... Even when they showed she had froze to death, she was STILL sitting there in the snow with her hood down. She'd have totally made it if she'd packed her brain. If you enjoyed the Wrong Turn series so far, you might as well keep going. This one offers a nice change of scenery, switching from the usual lush forest scenes and cabins to an old hospital set in a wintery landscape. I think it's comparable to part 2, which I believe was received well by fans. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Wrong Turn 5 is on its way!

USA vs. Canadian versions of Scream 4, Oct 4 2011
Blu-ray Canadian Edition: Includes a Blu-ray, a cardboard sleeve and a RueMorgue subscription offer. Blu-ray USA Edition: Includes a Blu-ray, DVD, a digital copy and alternate cover art. I'm guessing both are available, between Amazon and third party sellers... Wanted to share my observations for those interested in selection. :) Loved the movie, by the way. Nice to see the core characters return. Hayden Panettiere was a great new addition to the cast. I hope they find a way to bring her back for a 5th installment.

A disappointment, July 15 2011
After watching Halloween: 25 Years of Terror, I was hoping for something of similar quality in this documentary. Unfortunately I found it cheesey and not overly interesting. Furthermore, this is the single-disc release of this set, which was originally released with a second disc. If you're a fan and you want to pick this up, I'd recommend the 2 disc one for a little more money.

Finally, Children of the Corn II is brought to DVD (But not Blu-ray!), May 14 2011
Children of the Corn II has been a glaring omission from the series in North America until now! I found a multi-region copy on eBay from the Philippines a while back. I watched it and thought it was a fun, cheesey and decent follow-up to the original. Part III, which was previously released on it's own DVD, puts the cheesiness and trashiness factors waaay up. I liked it too, it was a guilty pleasure. :P I also like that the original artwork was used, where as it was modified for parts 2, 5 and 6 in recent releases. Looking at this listing, I'd say the price is right for this double feature.

Scream vs. Scream, Mar 12 2011
All three Scream films get 5 stars from me as movies... I knocked off a star because am disappointed that they contain fewer special features than The Ultimate Scream DVD Box-Set from 2001. MY QUESTION: Aside from price, what's the difference between the March and May releases of these Blu-rays??? I don't know which to order...

Milk is a story of strength, courage and perseverance that leaves me feeling inspired and hopeful every time I watch it. Easily earns its 5 stars!
