1.0 out of 5 stars Rob Zombie's Halloween II is a two-hour nightmare that doesn't have the style and substance of the original Halloween II., July 22 2015
This review is from: Halloween II [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Halloween II continues the story of Halloween in 1978 with Donald Pleasance and Jamie Lee Curtis. Laurie Strode is taken to a hospital and Michael Myers soon follows her after leaving a trail of murder and mayhem. Michael Myers goes on a rampage in the hospital and eventually gets burned by Donald Pleasance's character Dr. Sam Loomis. Halloween II in 1981 was the perfect sequel. A classic and was better than the first film.

Once again, Rob Zombie directs his version of Halloween II and I didn't like this film at all. Hardly. The gratutious violence in this movie was excessive and unnecessary. This movie has extreme graphic horror violence, brutal violence, disturbing content, strong language and gory scenes. This remake is a mockery to Halloween II in 1981. I didn't like this film at all and I'm glad Rob Zombie is done with the Halloween franchise. Terrible acting and terrible story in this movie and the whole witchcraft thing didn't make any sense. This movie is a two-hour slasher film on steroids. This is too much like a Friday the 13th movie. I didn't like this film at all because it didn't have the same style and substance of the 1981 film Halloween II. Laurie Strode going to the dark side??? Please. Give me a break. Next, is Annie, she didn't make it out of the original Halloween film. Malcolm MacDowell's peformance is ice cold compared to Donald Pleasance's brilliant performances in Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween 4, 5 and 6. Rob Zombie's Halloween II ruins the franchise. Halloween (1978) and Halloween II (1981) are two classic films and then you remake the first two films and the second remake fails to capture the essence of the original Halloween II. Halloween II (2009) didn't make any sense. Pathetic attempt at a horror film. I know people like this movie, but they are in serious denial. Go back and watch the original films and you will see that Rob Zombie's Halloween films wrecked the franchise. This movie is terrible. I give this moive a ZERO. THIS MOVIE IS A TURKEY. A ZERO. NO STARS FOR THIS MOVIE. The violence is over-the-top and excessive and makes a Friday the 13th movie look like a walk in the park. There is something to be said for leaving the violence to the imagination. More gore and more blood doesn't always equal better. The movie had bad acting, bad writing, bad directing. Terrible film. WORST IN THE SERIES AND THE WHITE HORSE AND THE WOMAN IN WHITE???? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. THIS MOVIE SHOULDN'T HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAY. This movie needs to go out of print and it needs to be discontinued.

If you want Halloween at its best, watch the original two films and skip this dud.

Theres a saying that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and once again, there was no reason for a remake. I hope the new Halloween Returns wil restore the Halloween franchise to its former glory. Rob Zombie's Halloween, Halloween II and the stand alone Halloween III- Season of the Witch are the worst films in the series. AVOID. THIS MOVIE IS A FLOP.

1.0 out of 5 stars Skip this remake and watch the original., July 22 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Halloween released in 1978 was an instant classic and original horror story. John Carpenter and Debra Hill created a classic when Michael Myers kills his sister after watching her have sex with her boyfriend. He was wearing a clown costume and went inside the house and killed his sister and he was sent to Smith Grove Sanitarium. Donald Pleasance plays the doctor who is responsible for Michael Myers and warns the hospital to keep him instutionalized. 15 years later, he escapes and makes his way to Haddonfield and a night of murder and mayhem follows. Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode is brilliant.

Now in 2007, Rob Zombie re-imagines the Halloween story and what follows is two hours of excessive graphic horror violence, strong language throughout the movie and distrubing content with gory scenes. The making of Halloween 2007 is over 4 hours which is excessive and too much detail in the movie. The movie is too long for a horror movie and this retelling of the Halloween story doesn't add anything new to the original. The original was a mystery and suspenseful movie. Halloween 1978 had Nick Castle as the Shape and Halloween II had Dick Warlock as the Shape. I know there are people who like Rob Zombie's version of Halloween- but I am not one of them. Hardly. Why settle for an imitation when you can watch the original film. The gratuitous violence in this movie is excessive. We didn't need a remake of Halloween. This movie is a waste of two hours. Donald Pleasance and Jamie Lee Curtis was Halloween and nothing can measure up to the original film. Rob Zombie directed the Devil's Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses and he notorious for over-the-top extreme violence. This is the most graphic Halloween film ever made. If you want blood and gore, then this movie is for you. If you want suspense, watch the original which was a masterpiece. A timeless horror classic. Rob Zombie's movie is a dud.

5.0 out of 5 stars HALLOWEEN CONTINUES THE TREND SET BY PSYCHO IN 1960., July 22 2015
Halloween statred it all. The movie begins with a young Michael killing his sister and Donald Pleasance as Dr. Sam Loomis and Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode and Halloween turns into a night of murder and mayhem. John Carpenter created a classic with Debra Hill. The haunting music at the beginning of the movie is my favorite opening sequence.

This movie leaves the blood and gore to your imagination. Well-crafted and a classic that will never be duplicated.

Favorite films in this collection is Halloween 6- The Curse of Michael Myers, but this movie is a departure from the series. Although, it features Michael Myers and Sam Loomis, we get into the world of witchcrafit and we learn more about the man in black. Halloween H20 has Jamie Lee Curtis at a private school with a son. Halloween Resurrection has more gore and is set in the Myers house for a reality special.

Halloween 6 received an NC-17 rating in the US- the last film to get the X rating in this series in US was Halloween 5- which received a 14A in Canada. If you are looking for the uncut Halloween 6- get the collectors edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Halloween 5 delivers., July 22 2015
This movie is a great movie in the Halloween series. We see the introduction of the Man in Black (more on him in Halloween), we see cast members return from Halloween 4. You'll have to watch the movie to see what happens. Sam Loomis played by Donald Pleasance returns to have another showdown with the maniacal and deranged Michael Myers and again, like previous Halloween films, there is little to no gore in th is movie. Most movies today have graphic horror violence but not the Halloween movies. My introduction to the Halloween franchise came with Halloween 4 and Halloween 5 because I was able to see them in theaters in 1988 and 1989. I am 40 years old now and I prefer to watch the movies that I grew up watching. Halloween 5 is one of my favorite films. Halloween could not have been made without the success of Psycho and Halloween inspired a series of slasher films like Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Child's Play and the ultimate innovative horror series, Scream. The slasher series went up a notch with Saw and Hatchet. Sleepaway camp was probably inspired by Friday the 13th. Halloween 1,2 4,5,6,7 and 8 are often imitated but never duplicated. I miss Rick Rosenthal who directed Halloween II, I wish he had continued with the series. Dick Warlock was amazing as the Shape and Donald Pleasance's presence on the screen is the main reason why I love this series. Amazing film.

This is better than the first film. I love Dick Warlock as Michael Myers or the Shape in this movie. Donald Pleasance is brilliant as Sam Loomis and Jamie Lee Curtis is brilliant in this movie. Halloween II outshines the first film. It's the best in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Halloween III: Season of the Witch is a great stand alone film in the Halloween series., July 22 2015
I changed my mind about this movie. The worst movies in the series are Halloween (2007) and Halloween II (2009)- the absolute worst in the series.

Halloween III is a stand alone movie in Halloween series and a departure from the first two films. However, after watching Rob Zombie's Halloween and Halloween II, I have come to appreciate this film.

Halloween (1978), Halloween 2 (1981) Halloween 4 (1988) Halloween 5 (1989) Halloween 6 (1995) Halloween H20 (1998) and Halloween Resurrection (2002) are the best movies in the series because they feature Michael Myers.

If you like blood and gore to the exteme, watch the Rob Zombie movies.

Hallowee III is better than those two films. The mysterious Cochran and a quiet sleepy town. Season of the Witch is a great film.
