This is the story of a german officer during world war 2. He served on almost all the major front's during the war and managed to survive. I thought the best part's of this book were, the battle for Berlin and his time spent in Soviet prison camp's after the war. Siegfried Knappe {the author} was a decent german who was thrown into a hellish experience.

a whole lot of dead things, Dec 30 2003
Every dead thing is John Connolly's debut novel. I read his other book's first for some reason and, I liked the other books more. Every dead thing is the debut novel of Charlie {bird} Parker, the private investigator who not only know's every mob kingpin in every city in America but has gay hitmen for friend's. In this book there is more blood and death than most books written on world war two.The story line is confusing and the ending is no suprise.

John Connolly at his best, Dec 27 2003
The White Road is a novel about private detective Charlie Parker. This time around Charlie is on a case in the deep south, with all the racial overtones included. Charlie agree's to help an old friend defending a black man accused of raping and killing the daughter of the richest and most powereful man in South Carolina. This book starts off dark and brooding and Mr. Connolly makes you care about his character's in their search to find the truth.

Tough People, Dec 23 2003
This book is full of stories of brave men and women who fought a monstrous evil, did not whine about it, did not expect or ask for help. They suffered dearly and were some of the bravest fighters ever. Think of the Alamo defenders on a huge scale.

Disturbing, Nov 23 2003
I found this book to be quite disturbing, it was well written, chock full of information and research. I never knew that before the 60's most people were never charged with child abuse most of the time, because most believed that a parent could never do that to their own child. What I found most horrific was that most of the relative's were aware of the abuse of dennis and turned a blind eye toward that evil woman, lois. And her husband Harold? what a loser! he deserved jail time for his complicity in the crime.

funny, Aug 30 2003
I found parts of this book very funny. Part's of this book were ridiculous , like does anyone really need dating advice from an old prude dude? Bill is no right winger, would a right winger actually say that sports utility vehicles should be outlawed? I watch the oreilly factor on T.V. all the time and agree with him most of the time, but in this country we have freedom, and that includes the freedom to be ridiculous and stupid according to MR. Oreilly.

a good story, Aug 24 2003
Ive read lots of books on the old soviet union, and this is one of the better ones. The plot is good and the storyline is not too unbelievable. I liked the first half of the book best it was kind of hard to finish.

Ever wonder what philosophy you live by ? This is the book. Gives a brief explanation to all of them. A good place to start your study of philosophy.
