You get what you pay for!, July 14 2004
This isn't a bad dvd trust me, but it could have been way better. For me, the standards for a record label DVD compilation was set high with the Drive Thru Records Version 2.0 DVD. That had about 3-4 hours of stuff on there. This DVD is in total 83 minutes long (because the videos were about 55 minutes total, the bonus footage was around 28 minutes). For 6 bucks what can you expect? I knew what I was getting when I saw the price. But being the loyal Tooth and Nail fan I am, I bought it. I somewhat regretted it. Here is an overview of the DVD's content: Videos (54-55 minutes): from the main menu (not even an animated menu either) you can hit browse (which is a scene selection of a sort) or hit play all (self-explanatory). The videos are from Further Seems Forever (2 videos one with new singer and other with chris carrabba although neither he or the band at that time are in it), Squad 5-0 (i skip this one), MewithoutYou (awesome video), Kutless (two videos), The O.C. Supertones (two videos), Bleach, KJ-52 (THE DEAR SLIM VIDEO FINALLY!), Halo Friendlies (only listenable on a good day), Jeremy Camp, Playdough (volume is too low to hear) and Seven Places. These total out to (as I noted above) 55 minutes. The sound varies on each video, it goes from really loud, to really low, a very bad dock in grade. I had to increase and decrease the volume on my home theater every time. This section gets a B- Bonus Footage (28 minutes)- on the case, this feature promised "Outtakes, live performances, and bonus footage" While you do get outtakes and bonus footage, you only get one live performance and that was from the band I don't like: Squad 5-0. Some clips are like "Punk'd" and "Jackass" mixed together. The rest are behind-the-scenes clips. Altogether it adds up to a short 28 minutes. Not really even worth watching unless you want to be bored for a while. Once again, the sound varies in volume and quality. Feature grade: C+ As my title says you get what you pay for. I highly recommend that you just go out and buy The Nail 1 CD in the music section. I'm not sure about the track list (if its the same as the DVD) but you get music for the same price minus the video and bonus footage. Overall DVD Grade: C

compared to the dvd this is a must own!, July 12 2004
I own the CD version of this and my dad owns the DVD, and I compared my CD to the DVD of his. Now, IMHO the CD is a better buy, because the 5.1 sound on the DVD is absoultely horrible especially considering that my dad's surround sound setup has the 2 rear speakers on each side of the chairs, and all you can hear in the rear is the crowd. It is very annoying, and we were so annoyed that we had to switch it over to stereo to stop from hearing the sound. The stereo sounded a little better, but if you want to hear it in stereo I suggest you go out and buy the CD. But it all will depend on your love of Rush. My dad and I both love Rush, so we were disappointed. I haven't tried the DVD on my setup, which is slightly different, but I might get the same effect. Buy either of these, just heed my warning. Pray to God, that your setup is good!

Emo-core? No, this is metal. Deftones: Adrenaline review, July 9 2004
This is metal. I don't get why some of the reviews call it emo? It isn't, this is real metal at its best. It is raw and unfiltered. It sounds very hard though! Note: This is a debut and not a lot of bands sound the same after their debut CD. So take that warning when you buy this CD!

average, almost made it though, July 8 2004
what are these guys trying to be: gothic punk? i mean do people actually find this cool? if you go and look through the rest of my reviews, you'll see that i like a variety of music, but this CD besides the singles (i am not an MTV kid alright so if you think that shut up and go watch porn or something) is very generic. it did not impress me. everyone at school likes a.f.i. but i don't, maybe its just this cd, and their other stuff is great, i don't know. but i sure won't be buying their older stuff. i'm glad i paid very little for this cd, before it became a hit. you want to buy some good music stick with some of these: Haste The Day "Burning Bridges" (hardcore with lots of screaming), Thrice "Artist in the Ambulance" (Haste the Day without the screaming), Thursday "War All The Time" (pure bliss!), Lit "Lit" (I know they are the epitomy of glam pop punk but still, I love them and always will), Franz Ferdinand "Franz Ferdinand (so far, a great band for 2004), Modest Mouse (I don't actually have the CD but I have heard 2 of their songs and they are awesome. Buy those CDs you will not regret it. They are all good! This CD will only appeal to posers and goths, not even worth a penny!

picked it up and couldn't stop listening, July 6 2004
every week i make a trip over to my library to browse the cd collection, and about a year ago, i found this little gem in there. i am pretty open minded when it comes to artists i've never heard before. i had recently gotten into more acoustic rock music and this cd made my day. i could not stop listening to it. i still listen to it alot. if you enjoy this CD, I highly recommend you check out Yorn's "Day I Forgot" which is harder and poppier, but its still an amazing CD.

very disappointing, almost heartbreaking!, July 2 2004
Why did they even bother with this CD. I loved Blindside's "Silence", it was an album you could listen to over and over again without getting tired of it, but with AABF, I listen to this maybe every 2 months, when I'm out of new music. Sometimes with a CD you at first didn't like, with every listen you start to like it, but with this one, it didn't happen, there were maybe between 2-4 memorable tracks on here but nothing to write home about. I warn you if you want to buy this CD, buy it used or something because it is just not worth full price. Not even the guitar playing of the singer of one of my favorite bands of all time (Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins) could salvage this CD from the train wreck it is. I warn you, find it for cheap and be prepared to be disappointed.

bought it on a whim, Jun 30 2004
i was highly interested in hearing a 13-year old singer, so i bought this cd and i loved it. jojo is not only drop dead attractive, but she has a great voice (i am 16, so i'm not Chester the Mollester), i had never heard the lead single or any songs off the album at all before buying it so, it was really just a blind purchase. one that i don't regret at all. i don't listen to r&b/hip-hop that much, I'm more of a rocker, but I like new talent when I hear it no matter what style of music. I lost faith in the r&b singers that are around today, but JoJo makes me have faith again. buy this CD now please, you will not regret it.

No word in the English language to describe OK Computer, Jun 30 2004
I was at target the other day and was looking at their collection of classic CDs and this was one of them. i have been looking for this CD for a good price now for a while and i found it at target. I immediately picked it up and listened to it. I was blown away from the first track on. My favorite track that really attracted me to buying the CD was Karma Police. If you think that song is good, you're on the right track, but you have to buy the whole album, it is that good. As i said in the title of the review, no word in the English language can describe this album. You cannot put it into a category and i think it is best to leave it that way. I would put this CD up there along the lines of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon as one of the best albums in a long time. Keep on making good albums Radiohead. Surprise us every time!

Why not perform more songs from the HT EP?, Jun 23 2004
Why didn't they do My December (their best song)? Or how about High Voltage? Both of those songs are great. I love LP, I have all 4 of the CDs (HT, Reanimation, Meteora and this) and I would have really liked to hear the underground stuff. Just buy this set, it is well worth your money but the DVD should have had more features like the videos from Meteora, a DTS track, or some other cool stuff, but this is good anyway!
