Not bad, it works, but not great., May 28 2012
Well just got it today and have been using it for about an hour. For my purposes, which is puting some online sports streams on my tv, it works well enough. My computer was about 10 ft. away from tv. No, it doesn't do 1080 well, at least not with my setup, and even at 720 I see some banding on the tv that isn't on the computer screen, still no big deal for what I'm up to with online streams. No banning that I can see when simply using it do computer stuff, no lag at all for me.
I wish I had logged what was installed as it takes longer than I would think for simple driver instalation, if that's all that's going on. It also seemed to install several drivers according the crazy usb installation beeps that I was hearing.
So basicly this is what you would get if you were to connect a vga cable to your tv from your computer. For me, losing the cable was worth the $100 as I use a notebook and move around with it a lot. If you have a computer right by your tv that won't be moving then a $20 svga cable setup will work just fine as that's what I was doing before I got the vstream. I do recommend it if your needs are similar to mine.
One other thing, the usb adaptor runs hot, really hot. Almost too hot to touch. So I don't keep it connected beyond when I'm using it which is not what I'd prefer to do but I know that the heat will shorten the life of adaptor and when it's done it's done.
