5.0 out of 5 stars Proud to be his fan!, Feb 21 2004
This review is from: The Other Side (Audio CD)
He touches my heart with his remarkable voice. And it feels like he truly meant every word that he sang. The moment he started the first note of "Face of God", I was hooked and couldn't stop the CD player. It's that good.

A talented singer like him is really rare nowadays, regardless of music genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a voice!!!, Sep 2 2003
This review is from: Southern Rain (Audio CD)
I became Billy Ray's fan since "Some Gave All". I am not an American but the title track really moved me. And I found that the man has an incredibly expressive and beautiful voice. "It won't be the last" was another great one, but after that album it seemed to me Billy almost forgot that he could really sing and kept growling. I wish there were more songs which could REALLY showcast Billy's vocal and emotions, like "She's not crying anymore", "Ain't no good goodbye", "Somebody new" etc.

With "Southern Rain", I can finally relate this guy to the great singer I once admired. His vocal really shines in this album, with even deeper emotions. The songs are all lovely. He sang quite a few big ballads, and they are all great and they suit him so well. Besides the title cut, I especially love "Love you back", the way he sustained the highest note in the song is so powerful and moving. He's the kind of singer who can make an ordinary tune sound so beautiful. And with quality songwriting like in this one, you owe yourself checking it out.

To me, Billy Ray Cyrus is more than just a country rocker, he is defintely a very accomplished vocalist with a remarkable voice that shames most of the other pop singers. I always wonder why he isn't as big as he deserves to be. He truly has the superstar quality - he writes good music, he sings well, he looks good and he has a big heart! Need I say more?

Those who snoot and dismiss Cyrus without paying attention to his music don't know what they are missing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely the BEST rider-waite variation!, Mar 16 2003
This review is from: Universal Tarot deck (Cards)
Frankly, this is really superior to the standard Rider-Waite in every aspect. The art is good, and symbolism is abundant. Mr. De Angelis faithfully referred to the original instruction from Arthur E. Waite and did a better job than Pamela Coleman Smith. Simply perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gorgeous Deck, uncannily accurate reading!, Mar 4 2003
I was drawn to the deck mainly for its beauty and adding it to my collection of beautiful decks. I didn't really expect to read with this deck. However, when I read the LWB, I was intrigued by the four love stories of the four suits and I liked the idea of fitting a story in each suit. I decided to give it a try for reading.

After several reading sessions with myself and my friends, I was BLOWN AWAY by the uncanny accuracy of this deck. The right cards always showed up in the right places like it was MAGICKAL. I thought it was only an art deck in the first place but the actual reading experiences with it proved me wrong. There's something very special about it. It has also put my Rider Waite to shame when it comes to consistent accuracy in reading.

I understand why some people think it is a difficult deck to read, since the deck doesn't follow the traditional symbolism. But I truly think this deck is in a different league, and in some sense even more successful in bringing out the card meanings effectively than the usual Rider clones, or the Rider itself. It doesn't rely on symbology, but the story-driven system is really intelligent and stirring.

I highly recommend this deck to both tarot readers and connoiseurs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear and concise, simply ourstanding!, Jan 29 2003
This review is from: Tarot Plain and Simple (Paperback)
Look no further, this is simply the best tarot introduction book. The book is really all-round, written in a clear and simple language which everyone can understand. I have several other tarot introductory books, but all of them fail to give me clear explanations of the court cards (maybe it's just me:-)), and the court cards have been a headache to me when it comes to doing a tarot reading. Now with Tarot Plain and Simple, I finally begin to grasp the court cards and put them into my reading at ease.

Most importantly, the book doesn't skimp on the reversals. Most tarot books for beginners seldom put emphasis on reversals and tell you to neglect it. This one doesn't. The explanation of every card's reversal is as detailed as the upright meaning, and right to the point. I am really impressed.

Five stars, no doubt.
