5.0 out of 5 stars Not for the Faint of Heart, Nov 15 2010
I'm glad I found and read this book before reading the reviews on here. I for the most part, completely disagree with them. The points I agree with.....

1. This book is for mature readers only.
2. This is her edgiest work yet.

While others found the subject matter off-putting, I was just the opposite. I found it hugely entertaining and so completely engrossing that once I started this novel, I couldn't put it down for a second. One section in particular, I won't elaborate and spoil the story, actually made my skin crawl. I can't remember the last time a book had that effect on me. Maybe the difference is that I don't actually believe in witch craft or spiritual powers, and therefore saw it as a completely fictional story. I was able to just enjoy the plot, rather than worrying about the subject matter.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is mature enough to deal with the subject matter. Hard Core Witch Craft, Intense sex and Unrepentant violence. I equate it to just about any HBO show, so if you like HBO, you'll probably like this book.

Also, if you enjoyed this book, you'll really like the "Wideacre" trilogy (also by Phillipa Gregory). It is more tame than 'the wise woman', but it has some pretty crazy plot lines of it's own.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hmmmm.....a little let down., Sep 15 2010
I am a huge fan of the first two books. Not necessarily the best books i've EVER read, but definately the best books i've read in a long time. the third however, i'm not so sure about.

I don't have the same issues as alot of the other reviewers. I didn't expect a happy ending. But i did expect a more detailed ending. It seems like the author ran short on time and didn't get to develop the ending like it should have been done. Which, as i think about it, seems to be the problem with most of the book. It feels rushed. There were a few places where i was confused about who was who or couldn't imagine a scene based on her descriptions. I never had that problem while reading the first two.

I'm not a huge sci-fi fan, so it was the wonderful character and story development that got me hooked in the first place. That development is lacking in the last one.

I'm still recommending it to buy, if for no other reason, it finishes the trilogy. But, i have to admit, i'm feeling a little disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars It keeps getting better and better, Sep 15 2010
Suzanne has made the second, if possible even better than the first. The story continues seemlessly from the first novel, but has been given a whole new depth. You definately need to read the first book, first or you'll be hopelessly lost. If you're reading this review and haven't read any of the books and are hesitant, all i have to say is "DO IT" but the first one 'hunger games' and this one. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, Sep 15 2010
This review is from: The Hunger Games (Hardcover)
I won't give you a synopsis of the plot because it's already been done by others. What I will say is that this book is a page turner from beginning to end. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. When I was forced to close it, the story and characters stayed on my mind until I could pick it up again. I think it would appeal to all ages, i'm 29 and loved it. I lent it to my mother who's in her 50's and to my cousin who's a teenager and they loved it just as much as I did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great one, July 24 2009
This review is from: Plum Spooky (Hardcover)
The between the numbers books, although they've taken a very strange twist, are a great series of books. They're not stand alone, i'd definately say you'd have to have read the plum series to understand the plot but they do introduce some completely new characters and have a different feel to them. All in all i enjoyed them a lot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Read, July 24 2009
All of the between the numbers books are a little out there, but if you can get over that then they're very entertaining. Visions of Sugar plums was my least favorite of them all, but still just as good as the regular series.
