Little House Complete Set (With Pilot episode), May 19 2013
This is another series I wanted to buy but wanted to find this product that had good results of the quality of DVD. From what some of the reviews here were, I was rather wary about buying it. I decided to buy it anyway and take my chances. For what I paid for, it was worth the price. It DOES have the pilot included in the set I have and also, (so far anyway) the DVD's are of good quality. I saw this set also on e-bay and found that it was even a bit cheaper and also you could buy it from a Canadian website located in Ontario. It seems that if you buy this from a US site, you will pay more because of the dollar not being par. Well, I decided to buy it from moreforyourbuck09 and have been pleased (so far) with the quality of the DVD set. I have to keep in mind though, when I am watching it on my Citizen 15" TV set and Citizen DVD player, that I have to plug in the earphones to the TV set (with a long extension cord for the earphones) so I can watch this on my own without disturbing others as it does not play the closed captioning. If I decide to watch it on my Panasonic 32" TV and Panasonic S68 DVD player, here is where I CAN play it and leave it on mute as the closed captioning DOES work. Here I can still watch this in the same room and still enjoy watching it BECAUSE of the closed-captioning capability. For me, this set was a good buy and would consider buying it from them again in the future. This DVD set I bought was released in 04/11/2008 so that is why I guess the CC was capable only on my newer TV set and DVD player. Regardless of that though, this to me was worth the buy. I have no regrets.

Matlock, May 6 2013
This is another season of Matlock that I bought because my husband and I both liked the series. This again was well packaged etc. (as it has usually been done). I bought it from Import CD's this time because ordering it this way through amazon.ca was cheaper. If you are in no tearing rush to get products then -- sometimes getting things like these is better through the US sites that work with amazon.ca. I would recommend this and the use of importCDs.com to anyone who likes to look for a good deal when buying movies etc.

Panasonic S68 multi-region DVD player, April 30 2013
I received this product in good condition, meaning it was packaged well. I'm afraid that is all I can say at this point in time. I did buy a Panasonic S48 multi-region DVD player in 2012 and I'm afraid that THAT one did NOT last 6 months, so I have to really try this one out and make sure that this one does NOT do the same, and give out in less that six months like the last one did. (Believe me, IF it does, you'll be the first to know!) When I set it up and used it last night, it seemed to do quite well for me to play all my DVD's (region 1 and 2). I would like to ENJOY watching my region 2 DVD's that I already have, but so far have not had much luck with these multi-region players. This one I just bought and received last night was bought from a warehouse in Montreal, whereas, the first one I bought (the Panasonic S48 multi-region DVD player) was bought from an American outfit called "Bombay Electronics" For me to actually tell you whether or not this product will last as long as my other DVD players, all I can say is "time will tell" as to whether or NOT THIS DVD player lasts as long as the Panasonic region 1 DVD player AND the Citizen multi-region DVD player I already have.

Bought this thinking I could play my Region 2 DVD's, April 26 2013
I bought this EXACT brand of DVD player in Sept. 2012 so I could play my region 2 DVD's of Inspector Morse and the Miss Marple Series. It worked for a while and then not six months after I bought it, it stopped working. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone because if this is a product that is SUPPOSED to be of GOOD QUALITY, (or so I thought) it SHOULDN'T have broken down so soon. If I just happened to get a 'dud' it still should have lasted a lot longer than the few months that I had it. The place I bought it from, at least gave me a refund to solve this issue. What annoys me though, is this -- WHY does the USA have sell such inferior products??? You'd think that if these corporations had ANY INTEGRITY they would not do things like this to people. Another perfect example is the Miss Marple Series 1 DVD set that I bought a couple of years ago. These movies have also been 'edited' to fit the time slots on PBS television. My question then is: WHY NOT AT LEAST sell the 'full/uncut' versions when they actually sell them to the public??? This tells me that these corporations are just out to get as much money out of people as they can without being honest about what they are actually selling. I guess there are some people who aren't really bothered by this, but for me, it is no fun to watch a movie that you KNOW has been EDITED. They now say that the DVD version they are selling, (for quite a high price, I might add), of the Agatha Christie Miss Marple Collection - Original British Version (12 DVD Box Set) [NON-U.S.A. FORMAT: PAL Region 2 U.K. Import] DVD set. I know at least that THIS product HAS NOT BEEN UNCUT. For this though, you NEED a multi-region dvd player. The question then is (after you buy this product of Miss Marple starring Joan Hickson or even the Inspector Morse series) -- Will THIS multi-region DVD player break down just like the last one I had???? Well, I guess time will tell, won't it..........

More mysteries to enjoy!, April 16 2013
Well, we took a chance with this and found it to be quite fun to watch. We like mysteries that have a good plot and not all the violence that comes with it like most other police shows etc. do these days, that comes out. Even though the episodes are only about an hour long, it is shot in the 1920's. We found the plots to be well done and the woman who plays the main role, plays it well. If you like something with a mystery plot with not all the violence that comes with it, then this will be a good find for you too. I look forward to set number 2 that comes out!

Rise of the Guardians, Mar 16 2013
I don't think that the price is that great, so just wait until it get's to be about $18 before you buy it, that is why I didn't buy it from Amazon.ca. Regardless of that though, they did it again! The people from "Dreamworks" that did such movies as The Road El Dorado, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, Antz, The Shrek series, Shark Tale, The Madagascar series, Over the Hedge, Flushed Away, Bee Movie, Kung Fu Panda, Monsters vs. Aliens then you won't be disappointed with this one. We found that we enjoyed this movie just as much. The storyline was good and the animation was what really kept us captivated while watching it. We got our money's worth for this movie and we look forward to seeing it again in the near future!

Midsomer Murders set 21, Jan 16 2013
Well, my husband and I finally got to see what this series actually had to offer, and what each story was about in this next series. We, like a few others that have commented, found this series not to be ANYTHING LIKE what Tom Barnaby was. We found that the plot in each movie was very poorly put together and many of the scenes in each of the movies were "stunted" or somehow "unfinished". Even though it said on the package that "Brian True-May" was still the producer and that some of the directors were the same from the previous "Tom Barnaby" series that had directed them as well, we found that the directing of this series has really gone downhill. It makes me wonder why Brian True-May continued on with this series at all after DCI Tom retired. (???????) These are some of the reasons that really have put us off of buying set 22: 1) We felt that because Tom retired, it would have made more sense that Jones take over and because of what he'd learned from Tom, that he could have made a good DCI, but I guess this is where the director(s) of these movies have now 'lost their touch'. 2) Like the Morse and Lewis transition, it would have made for a good continuation of this series as we felt that from what DS Jones had learned from DCI Tom, might have made for a good storyline continuation. DCI Tom had times where he was scolding DS Jones and 'teasing or ribbing' Jones, but we felt that, at least, it was NOT in an insulting manner, as what DCI John has been doing. It seems that the role DS Jones is playing here now, is more of a role where DCI John is wearing a shirt that has a finger pointing to DS Jones that says "I'm with stupid" (when in actual fact, we think DCI John is the stupid one!) 3) It seems that in this series DCI John has not the same quality as what Tom had. From the few comments about DS Jones alone, that DCI John made of him, we found rather turned us off of buying the next series. Here we would call him the 'incapable' DCI Barnaby! 4) We had no problem with the fact that he had a degree in psychology, but we felt that sure didn't improve his 'capability' as the new DCI. As he plays his role as DCI Barnaby in this series, he tends to put down his partner by saying lines such as "I already have a donkey" which, to us, is rather insulting. Also, DCI John is stupid enough to go on his own and get himself almost murdered in the first episode which right there, leaves us quite unimpressed with his 'common sense' approach about dealing with the criminal element. Tom Barnaby always got some kind of back up and/or had DS Jones with him, and would already be in the interrogation room discussing with the culprit why they did what they did, and would NOT BE 'left hanging up in the air'. 5) We also realize that in a married relationship, there will be positives and negatives. When it came to Tom and Joyce, and they had disagreements, fights, or just plain didn't talk clearly to each other, the storylines in those series, still showed that loving relationship and not a 'dysfunctional' marriage/family life that DCI John and Sara seem to have already. For DCI John and Sara, it seems that this is more of a soap opera relationship that only has time for sex, doesn't make time to really have a connected conversation with each other, (this is where we find some of the scenes to be rather disjointed or not easily connected to the storyline itself) it makes me wonder what the 'new directors' are doing with this and the next series. Is it their plan to turn this 'murder mystery series' into a 'soap opera/murder mystery' kind of style mystery????? If so, then that explains why the relationship of DCI John and Sara have really turned us off of the next series!!!! 6) Some of the scenes now are getting to show more gore and violence (which we find NOT NECESSARY in a good mystery -- and so that is not what appeals to us for a good mystery, it is starting to get more to the US style of cop/detective/mystery shows. BOTTOM LINE THEN: If you like to have the guts and gore (like it is in all the other movies these days), a soap opera type of storyline and a DCI with a "stupid sidekick" then this will most likely still hold your interest to watch this series and the next series to come. As for us, we have decided that Midsomer Murders has come to a pleasant end with Tom Barnaby's retirement.

A Troll in Cetral Park, Jan 10 2013
This was another animated movie we liked. It had Dom DeLuise in it, so that is part of the reason why I chose this one. It was not only for him and some others being in it that appealed to me, but also the price was ideal. Like American Tail, Cinderella, The Sword in the Stone, etc. this may be another movie you might like to have for your DVD library. This movie was also done by Don Bluth, which also did "The Land Before Time" series, which we felt was also good. I have no regrets for this one.
