Strikes the right chord with me..., Nov 26 2008
I'm not sure why I like this movie so much. I first saw it when I was 10; my uncle and I hung out alot when I was younger, and one of his favourite tv channels (on his super decked-out satellite packege, lol!) was this channel that seemed to only show non-stop grade z exploitation flicks. I remember watching this one, thinking how hilarious it was, but not knowing the name of it. Years later, when I was fifteen, I stumbled upon it again, finally hearing the name, and buying it later. The plot has already been explained by others, so I'll just state my opinion of this movie; It's alot of fun. It's not a technically "good" movie, heck, it's not even a good sexploitation flick (most of my friends refuse to call it sexploitation; not enough sex going on :P), but it just comes together well. I don't understand people who say it's boring; it's so bizarre, so strangely handled (half of the cast take it way too seriously, the other half don't take it seriously at all) that I don't see how you could be bored. And all of the women in it are really hot; which is a nice change from some exploitation flicks I could mention. (Deadly Weapons, anyone?) All and all, I think it's very worth buying. Always cheers me up. :)

This is AMAZING!!!, Oct 15 2008
I exercise almost never, but I'm tired of being embaressed of my body. I'm not HUGELY overweight, like 20 pounds, but I don't want to just loose weight; I want to be fit, and toned. I bought this dvd after reading all the awesome reviews, but I haven't had the willpower to do it until today. This dvd is AMAZING. I only did level 1, the easiest level, and I was panting, completely covered in sweat, and about ready to fall over. I was so close to turning off the thing a dozen times, but my determination to look better, and Jillian's no-nonsense attitude pulled me through. It's hours later now, and I still feel achy. What a workout!! I'm definately going to do it tomorrow. And, it's help me set a fitness goal for myself ( a first for me): to someday be able to beat the level 3 on the dvd without breaking a sweat. So I guess the hitpoint of this review, is, um, BUY IT! If you really want to get in shape, get this thing. I've never felt so proud of myself in my life for doing something for 20 minutes!!

Okay film, killer commentary, July 24 2008
The movie, as a creature feature, is just really okay. I like the scene with the behemoth and the electrical poles, but other then that, not alot stands out. This movie really shines for the commentary, however. The effects guys are hilarious! And they give some interesting information on how movies were made back then. Definately worth a listen.

One of my favourites, but definately get the Kino version., July 24 2008
This movie, as most people probably know already, is about a vampire, much like the Dracula novel, which it was based on. There are huge differences between Dracula and Nosferatu, however; Nosferatu is not this charming, cape-wearing, handsome villain who oozes sex appeal. He's bald, hunched-over, with pointed ears and strange rodent-teeth. You arn't meant to be attracted to him, you're meant to fear him. And when he travels in the movie, he doesn't go alone; he brings plague rats with him. I love this movie. It's not so much scary as creepy, though I did get genuinely frightened during one of the castle scenes with him. Most of the movie plays on atmosphere, and the music, which is a good reason to get the Kino version, as the music is actually GOOD, compared to most versions of this film. I never found this film boring, but I can see how others might find it so at first. You can't watch this movie expecting a modern day movie sans talking. The shooting style is different, the acting style different. Like I said above, it's not shock-style fear being created; is drawn-out, atmospheric creepiness. And the acting you see isn't over-acting; it's the only way to really convey an emotion in a silent film. Sorry, I'm rambling. All I can really end up saying is that I liked it. I loved it, actually. But an IMPORTANT final note; sound isn't the only reason to get the Kino version. The transfer is so clear, you forgot it's in black and white. It is more expensive, but definately worth it. Most other versions just arn't worth seeing.

Best Pick-me-up ever!, July 24 2008
Since the summaries above will tell you about the movie itself, I'll skip over that and just put in my opinion; this movie cheers me up like few other things can. Whenever I'm upset, or angry, or any negitive emotion, really, I can turn on this movie, and it will instantly bring a smile to my face. Inigo Montoya is the best character, in my opinion, hands down. I always cry with his bit at the end (don't want to spoil it). It's special effects and music are pretty dated, but that's half the fun of it. Definately one of my favourite movies of all time.
