5.0 out of 5 stars This book saved my dog!, July 13 2004
The first day I had my rescue dog he snapped at my 1-year-old daughter. I was contemplating sending him back, but someone suggested this book to help teach him "pack" behavior, i.e. that he is lower in the pack hierarchy than my daughter. It wasn't long before my daughter could safely do anything with him. I was also able to housebreak him, crate train him, and just make him a good dog based on the training techniques.

Yes, the discipline techniques can seem a little extreme, but they are by no means inhumane. And they WORK because the dog understands. My dog usually "got it" after one time and stopped the behavior. I have not had to discipline him for anything in several years. Now he understands from just a look, a word or a gesture. This book helped us get to that point. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite books!, Feb 13 2004
I can't believe I found it! This was one of my favorite books from when I was in kindergarten. I remember it well. I'm buying it for my 6-year-old daughter tonight.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best baby shower gift ever, Mar 20 2003
I always give this book as a baby-shower gift to first time moms. All of them have thanked me later on. A few of them quit work because of it, though. Don't tell my boss :o

I like this book because he gives different options to solve problems. He doesn't demand that you do it his way, but "whatever way works best for you."

5.0 out of 5 stars Best cookbook I ever bought, May 23 2002
I've had both of these cookbooks for several years now. They are pretty ragged because they've been used so much! It would not be an exaggeration to say that we have fixed over 50 recipes between the two books. Both my husband and I work, and we have two children. These cookbooks have made our lives so much easier. The recipes are easy to prepare, don't involve too many steps or ingredients, and use "normal" ingredients that are easy to keep on hand.

A few of our favorites: Chicken Stir-Fry Sandwich, Ricotta Pizza, Seafood Gumbo, Chicken Rainbow Salad, and Frozen Fruit salad (which we divide into four containers and eat for dessert every few nights.) We do occasionally tweek things to match our tastes, but I've found most of the recipes are very flavorful.

I love these cookbooks. I wish Mrs. Ponichtera would write a few more!
