5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting Canadian Art History, Oct. 16 2012
Greg Strong's careful recording in "The Toni Onley Story - Flying Colours" is an enjoyable and insightful portrait of one of Canada's greatest artists. This co-operative effort between Strong and Onley has opened a hatch into the development of an artist through his insights and experiences. Onley candidly reveals the events of a fully human life of tragedy and hardship as well as joy and revelation. This book gives us a record of an artist who has changed our view of the world revealing to us a truly unique perception of the Canadian experience. Onley reflects influences from Japanese, Chinese and English landscape artists as well as the Group of Seven. He engaged his subject directly by flying into remote areas of Canada and recording his reflections on paper and canvas. Onley died of heart failure and subsequent crash of his small plane into the Fraser River in 2004. Thankfully we have this book with copious personal photos of his life and family as well as his paintings and it is a truly valuable contribution to the history of Canadian art. It is also a record of a man in our time who saw the world in flying colours indeed. Highly recommended to anyone interested in art and particular Canadian art. The average reader will also find the Onley story facinating.

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointment, Dec 22 2010
This review is from: The Gift (Audio CD)
Have been impressed with Susan Boyle's talent and voice but very underwhelmed by her choice of songs and presentation of them, especially in this album
