5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent entertainment with a newer talent!, Feb. 26 2011

Josh Groban's voice will grab you right away. His humanity and decency, his classical training and performance of the classics as well as contemporary works are just a joy to hear (and see in this performance). I enjoyed this more than the 'Awake' tour actually for some reason. Groban is just wonderful to hear. He leaves you enthralled with the experience. A wonderful talent, so unlike too many others in the current state of entertainment. Refreshing, heart felt - his voice is the show. Don't miss out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Vintage Dr Who! Another side of our 'hero' . . . ., Feb. 26 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Really well, written, cast, filmed, special effects, moral to the story, and a side of Dr Who we haven't seen before. An excellent story by Davies (again), and Tennant shows why he's so powerful as this incarnation. Wonderfully entertaining and enthralling. . . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! A Classic already - a stand alone major Acheivement!, Jan. 19 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
David Tennant is certainly one of the most successful Dr Who ever I'd say. And the writing of Russel T Davies is brilliant! Along with an ultra-strong cast (what an ensemble!) this dvd is a fabulous stand-alone science fiction work of art, or a jewel amongst the Tennant years as Dr Who. If it's the only Dr Who you own, or one of many, you won't be disappointed in the least with this stellar achievement!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good story, strong acting and intelligent! Recommended!, Jan. 11 2011
This review is from: Strapped [Import] (DVD)
This work shows that there are very good films made these days - just not by major studios. The human condition - the perennial condition in it's multitudes of variations. This film is well thought out, well written, with a very strong cast (high marks to Ben Bonenfant who's in every frame)and strong production values. It's a very intriguing story, and the mystery takes you along on Adam's adventure. It will hold your attention throughout, with poignant life-points along the way, the main one just at the end. Well done. Strong cast, attractive and talented lead (with a promising future no doubt), and an intriguing ride. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicely done! Positive, upbeat, dramatic and enjoyable work!, Jan. 11 2011
I do enjoy film from other countries/cultures. It's a wonderful confirmation of how much people are alike no matter where are this planet they live. And the trials and injuries so similar. This is a very positive yet dramatic work. I loved the filming in Tunisia, the acting was strong and convincing (cudos to Claudia Cardinale!), and the lesson unmistakable. Humanity suffers from the human condition. Denial is not an answer, and is often an affliction. Strong story, strong script, well acted and first-rate cinematography. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Wonderful! Top notch "feel good" movie with a Point'. Super!, July 7 2010

This review is from: Pollyanna (DVD)
I decided to get this movie as a reliving of my youth :)
I'm so glad I did! It is sooo much better than I remember when I saw it in the theatre, and later on television way back when.
The restoration is wonderful - both video and audio! The story and script are excellent, the casting is excellent and the acting is very strong. The message is refreshing, and if it doesn't leave you with teary eyes, you'll certainly feel so much better and uplifted. The "message" of how to live is clear, and true. This might be a bit syrupy for some, but get over it. This movie is a wonderful "feel good" film.
Hayley Mills IS Pollyanna - made the movie I think!
Do yourself a favour, get this winner - no swearing, no gas-can explosions (doesn't take much to amuse some), no car chases. It has "people" in it, with a "story", and "drama" with comedy.
This is a wonderful film. Do yourself a favour - get Pollyanna.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Total Triumph! I can't say enough gushy things about how much I love this Series!, June 14 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Date with a Sheesha (Paperback)
The well constructed mystery. The endearing, charming, likable, believable characters. The humour. The wit. The warm writing style, that captures your interest immediately, and holds your undivided attention to the last page.
This is a zenith in the Mystery Genre, and a first (as far as I've found) in the gay Mystery Genre. Not a political diatribe - just a wonderful entertaining mystery!
Every adventure of Russel Quant has been a wonderful adventure and mystery. This one is no exception. Plus I learned a great deal about life in the Middle East! A travelogue to boot!
I can't say enough about the Russel Quant series - all of them - including Sheesha! This one kept me on the edge of my seat to the very end! Can a book do that? Yes, it can. Yes they do!
Bidulka's Quant Mysteries all do. I haven't enjoyed reading this much in a long time, and I can't wait for the next in the series to come out.
Do yourself a favour. Have fun. Laugh out loud. Be enthralled with a good mystery, with characters you'll come to love. Go with the Russel Quant Mysteries. You'll love them as much as I do!
