Vikki is the best singer on this CD, Jun 9 2004
Vikki Carr is in good form on this CD, with her voice as sweet and powerful as it was in the sixties. The other singers have liitle power in their voices, unlike when they featured in the charts. I gave five stars only because of Vikki Carr.

Shelley Fabares is Shelley Fabulous, Feb 25 2004
Shelley is here at her best. She is oozing with charm - she has Charm Plus. I think that the best track is "How Lovely to be a Woman" from Bye Bye Birdie. The tracks are all soft pop often with strings backing plus a chorus.

Outstanding, Feb 23 2004
Vikki Carr is THE BEST singer around. No one else sings with such emotion. Her voice is tuneful, sweet,emotion-filled and powerful. She is as easy on the eyes as on the ears. I think that the best track is "He's A Rebel" which got to No.5 in the Australian Charts in 1962. Other pretty good tracks are "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You","It Must Be Him","Baby Face","Ac-Cen-Tchu-Ate The Positive","I've Grown Accustomed To His Face","With Pen In Hand"and "Carnival". On all tracks Vikki is in good form. I think that five stars aren't enough to say how good Vikki Carr is.

Vikki is still as good as she was in the 60s, Feb 20 2004
What I find interesting about this CD, released in 2001, is that Vikki's voice has the same rich quality that it had back in the 60s. Some singers lose power with age, but Vikki Carr's voice is still as strong. Some songs are in Spanish, some in English, some partly in Spanish, partly in English. The first track, Feliz Navidad, is a happy upbeat track with a chorus in the background. I think that the best track, is Los Peces En El Rio, which is in Spanish. All tracks are outstanding - I find myself playing it over and over again.

Very enjoyable, Feb 3 2004
Ben sings songs mainly from the forties with a big band conducted by Tim Ouimette. This is a different style to the style that Ben became famous for - namely soul songs or Latin sounding sounds often with strings accompaniment. While Ben's voce is not as powerful as it used to be, it is is still tuneful and he still sings with lots of feeling.I think that the best song is "Song for Jennie", a ballad song for which Ben wrote the lyrics and Tim Ouimette wrote the music- I presume that it is about Ben's mother.I also particularly like "Little Mama" which is a toe-tapping upbeat song.

It worked for me, Jan 25 2004
I used to be 12 stone. I tried various diets to get my weght down, including the low carbohydrate diet. The only diet that worked is the one promoted in this book: namely a low fat vegan diet plus 30 minutes of exercise each day. I got my weight down to 8 stone 11 pounds using the ideas in this book. There is far more variety in my diet now than there was when I ate animal foods.

Well done, Jan 23 2004
While not the world's greatest singer Shelley Fabares compensates for this with Charm Plus. I think that she is Shelley Fabulous.

Most enjoyable, Aug 21 2003
The first album contains Latin American songs, all of which Ben sings well, backed By Stan Applebaum's orchestra, which is superb. I think that one of the best tracks is Love Me, Love Me which Ben wrote.Ben does a really good job on Granada and on Frenesi. The second album contains a lot of Ben's singles. Ben has a sweet, soulful voice and over the years has shown himself to be a good composer. His recent CD, Shades of Blue, show him to be still in good form. I think he is the best male pop/soul singer around. I think that only Vikki Carr sings with more emotion.

Good Stuff, July 31 2003
This CD brings back very happy memories as the very first record that I bought was Sacred b/w I Get Dreamy by The Castells in 1961. I really enjoyed both tracks then and still do today. The version of I Get Dreamy on the CD is slightly different to the original but is just as pleasant - they have added a female vocalist . Whether singing ballads or upbeat numbers, the Castells are fairly lively, sweet and tuneful. The Castells are complemented with the orchestral arrangements of Hank Levine, who used strings to good effect. The track "I Do" was co-written and produced by Brian Wilson. The Castells sound very Beach Boyish on this track. I have played this CD numerous times since buying it - I think it is so good. I think that the best tracks are "I Get Dreamy", "So This Is Love","Sacred","Oh What It Seemed To Be","Clown Prince","I Do" and "Stiki de Boom Boom". Cover notes are by Chuck Girard, a member of the four man group. Two of the Castells went on to have some success as part of The Hondells. I think it is a pity that the Castells career was so relatively shortlived - I think that they were one of the best soft rock groups around.
