5.0 out of 5 stars Genesis Moving In New Directions, March 29 2011
This review is from: Foxtrot (Audio CD)
By the time Foxtrot comes out this band is now fully functioning and they know where they are going. The skill of percussionist and drummer Phil Collins adds immeasurably to the force and power of the band. Hacketts and Rutherfords Guitar Work and Gabriel's Vocal and the Powerfull Keboards of Banks. There are only a few bands that have been able to function on this level (Pink Floyd in theie UmmaGumma Days). This band can move from the intricate and delicate to a powerfull moving army. This has to be one of their best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Genesis at its best, March 29 2011
This is really the cream of the crop. This is Genesis while they functioned as a working unit, where all the unique talents came together in a special way culminating in The Lamb. The only thing missing here is the Live album which really captures this band as a Full Functioning Unit. Who knows where they would have went if the wheels Gabriel and Hackett didn't come off at their peak. It is really down hill for the band from here. It just the rest of the hangers on from FM radio play and the money that comes with it carried them along into musical sterility. Here you have the real Genesis carving out new territory.

4.0 out of 5 stars Foxx is on a roll, March 29 2011
This review is from: Metamatic (Dlx Ed) (Audio CD)
After a short-lived career fronting and creating much of Ultravox's sound and fan base, Foxx strikes out on his own before Ultravox breaks out with main stream success. Foxx continues his stark sound with his first LP with some outstanding unique compostions that of course could never do with where FM radio was going and the music industry. However the long lasting career shows who really has the staying power. If you like Ultravox & Midge Ure, you'll love this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good To See Them In Action Again, March 29 2011
One of the most enjoyable Live bands of their day. this gives you a small glimse of the energy of an OMD concert when they were so much younger. The music is still there however the newer fans do seem to grasp the mooodiness of the band and the prodding along of synths to create the mood of the song. A very good live performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Todd Continues Moving In His Own Special Way, March 29 2011
This review is from: Wizard, a True Star (Audio CD)
This certainly stands out in my mind as one of his best. This broke new ground with his use of studio trickery and synths. From Iternational Feel, Tic Tic Tic, Flamingo, Zen Archer they all have a unique feel to them and took music in a way no one else was thinking about. Even going back to acknowledge his roots with Never Never Land and his Philedelphia soul I'm So Proud Medley. Of course this has always been standard fare with Todd's music. For most music critcs this was all too much. Sad to say they missed the boat. For those who are not interested in a rehashing of the endless parade of no talent one hit wonders of or the senless rock anthems played over and over again of this time period, this was a real refreshment. Take a chance and you'll get to see some real musical talent that is not to be taken too seriously.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hard To Label, Feb. 21 2011
This review is from: Bride Stripped Bare (Audio CD)
Bryan Ferry is probably on of the best musicians of his day. It hard to label his music as he seems to enjoy all sorts of styles and is willing move his music in all different directions working with all sorts of musicians. Can't Let Go is a highlight as well as Take Me To The River.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of all solo efforts, Feb. 21 2011
This review is from: Broken China (Audio CD)
Of all the solo recordings by various ex-Floyd members, this is the most comprehensive and balanced. Clearly the output of Wright is not great but this would rate as the best of the solo recordings that meet Pink Floyd Standards. Of course beginning with The Wall there was not a falling apart of the band and the were already losing their grip on creativity. It seems only now Gilmour is coming out of it with On An Island. Either Wright was to modest or unsure of himself to tour with this album. If you liked Pink Floyd when they were really doing something you enjoy this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chilling, Dec 18 2010
This review is from: Westworld [Import] (DVD)
Yul Brenner no doubt one of the best actors of modern times. This movie well shows a reality of the modern life, the danger of the commercial world that has completely run amuck with scientific knowledge providing for the appetites of a morally bankrupt society. Brenner chillingly shows how out of control things really in the real world.

4.0 out of 5 stars One Of Their Best, Dec 18 2010
This review is from: Stranded (Audio CD)
A group of young inexpierenced musicians who created their own unique genre. Roxy Music shows their continued growth and originality with their sometimes quirky sound. They continue to create oroginal songs that are able to stand on their own merit. This particular CD features Ferry's great keyboard playing and Thompson's drumming skill that shows him to be one of rock's premier drummers. The song Just Like You brings all members skill one after the other to the for. Manzanera's beatiful guitar work on Amazona carries Ferry's vocals and Eno's almost invisible synths. It's so unusal how all the numbers move from one style to another and yet carry a theme through out the LP/CD. This is really one of the most cohesive preforming groups you can listen to. Psalm again shows how well they all work together and how Roxy Music would be foolishly linked to glam rock or any such peg.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lost In A Lost World, Dec 18 2010
A lot of idealist ideas that show just how inept this generation has been able to with the realities of a cruel and selfish world. The idea that man would really be able to steal a starship and build a better world, when in fact the world we have with and abundance of life and resources he cannot control his selfish desires. As far as the ideology is concerned there is very little in the way good values that form its base. The musicianship as well is saly lacking. How easily a generation is carried along by simplistic thinking with grandiose schemes. How far Jefferson Airplane strayed into the looking glass without seeing the reflection.
