4.0 out of 5 stars Very detailed basic facts, April 6 2010
This review is from: Korea: Forgotten War (DVD)
A very detailed documentary/show on the Korean War (1950-53). So detailed at times it got boring but I truly enjoyed the dates, locations and month by month play of the battles and actions. It's a basic briefing of the war and doesn't get very technical. Names, places, dates and actions are talked about but other than that, not much is discussed. Again, it is highly recommended if you know little or nothing about the Korean war.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read, March 11 2010
An excellent must read for the student of foreign policy and history. A 'right on the money' criticism of Obama's failed presidency and his dangerous agenda in destroying American power and might. In less than 50 pages, VDH piles on Obama and his misguided policy like no one else. If you want to know what is wrong with today's American policies, get yourself a copy of this pamphlet. Educate yourself! 5/5

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and revealing, March 11 2010
A good, quick read about Karl Rove's life and his time in Pres Bush's white house and from his campaign trail. Very informative, not a hit job and revealing on so many levels. Makes a good case study of how President Bush ran for presidency and how events unfolded around them after Sept 11th terrorist attacks. The best part of the book is where the author talks about President Bush's real character and his disciplined life and habits. Confirmed my view of the man and made the book all the more enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great acting with a good story line, Feb. 20 2010
Simply put, Lancaster's and Douglas's acting are enough to give this movie excellent ratings. The story line of course is very relevant to today's events where a pacifist President is in the office and the military is more hawkish. So, it is one of those few movies that will never age and will never get old or irrelevant. Basic story line is wonderfully directed and presented. I wish they had developed more on the Marine Colonel (Douglas) relationship with Ava (the woman in the scandalous relation with Gen. Scott). That'd have been better. And the abrupt ending was not what I expected. Sort of unrealistic and leaves the viewer in limbo. All in all, this movie is worth it. 4/5

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so great, Feb. 18 2010
This review is from: District 9 (Bilingual) (DVD)
I was so excited to get this DVD and watch it but it disappointed me. The first 30-40 minutes of the movie is just confusing and does not make sense much. The rest of the movie is violent, inhumane and full of gory scenes. It did not have an iota of message about humanity or did I miss something? Any how, I did not get the story line and do not recommend this movie. It's overrated.

2.0 out of 5 stars Another moral relativist historian writes, Feb. 6 2010
This review is from: Our Man In Tehran (Hardcover)
After reading 22 pages into the book, this sentence made me stop and throw the book away: "I prefer Islamic Politics to either Islamic fundamentalism or militant Islam, which after 9/11 evoked Pres Bush's own militant Manicheanism....". Clearly the Canadian author has no freaking idea about the real nature of the subject he has written. There's no such thing as Islamic Politics. Maybe political Islam, but that word is just a misleading fabrication by some ignorant anti-American history prof Michael Hunt whose bias is known around the world. So yeah, I dont think this book is worthy of my time or money. Will return it to bookstore tomorrow. Not mentioning the fact that by exposing our ex-diplomat's cover in Iran as a stooge of CIA, he has put all current and future Canadian diplomatic corps around the world at risk. What a shame!

Accomplice to Evil: Iran and the War Against the West
Accomplice to Evil: Iran and the War Against the West
by Michael A. Ledeen
Edition: Hardcover
26 used & new from CDN$ 0.01

5.0 out of 5 stars An extremely important read, Feb. 3 2010
Dr. Michael Ledeen has been the most vocal supporter of democracy and freedom in Iran in the past several years. No one can claim he has not been out there defending the cause of freedom for the Iranian people. In this book, yet again, he lays out the path for freedom in Iran and stability in the region and the world. Ledeen argues why the western world should fight this evil tyranny. And this is an important read in a very crucial year when Iranians are out in the street demanding change and western governments sitting on their hands doing nothing to help the people of Iran. This book must be on the reading list of all top government officials in the western world from Paris to Berlin, Rome and beyond. Michael Ledeen has the moral courage and clarity to say what no one else has dared to say so far. He is right to argue that the free world must aid the dissidents and support meaningful change in Iran. His vision is now ever more clear. Read this book and pass it on to your friends. 5/5

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing photos..., Dec 27 2009
This is a great collection of photos, some of which never been seen before, and they tell the story of the Islamic revolt of 1979. I hadn't seen most of the photos myself and this book is excellent in showing us the savage nature of the Islamic revolution that toppled the late Shah of Iran. A necessary book of photography for the history buffs, artists and photographers and general public. Highly recommended. 4/5
