3.0 out of 5 stars Well written, Sept. 26 2013

Second in the series Scandalous Brides, this is the first book i read by Suzanne Enoch. Well written, as the RT award for Regency novel suggests. Can't help but wonder though how this scandalous couple is going to do, banished from both family and society, and with little money, at this time period. I recommend you leave your hard cold common sense in the wardrobe.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping!, Sept. 26 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is the first of Lisa Garner's books i've read. I guess from other commentaries i missed out on some the precedent characters interactions, but i found the book thrilling anyway. Lots of details on juvenile pornography and how cops catch the bad guys, sometimes a bit too much: though it might be interesting for the reader, i couldn't help but think, «Surely DD knows that!». Lots of twist and turn that keep you guessing till the end. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, Dec 7 2012

Nicely done, well drawn characters. A trip through the norwegian countryside. 5th in the inspector Sejer series, but i started with this one and didn't feel lost. Winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Award.

The ending is open, so you may want to read the next.

2.0 out of 5 stars Broken... record, Dec 7 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Broken (Paperback)
I bought this book for the raving reviews. But i didn't believe in the relationship between the 2 characters. Ok, so they have both lived through traumatic events. When they meet, they can't or won't trust the other which means pages and pages of hesitation. Can she tell him? Can he trust her? Should he/she maybe, perhaps, maybe not, why not, then again... Oh but wait, that doesn't stop them from having intercourse (i hesitate to cal it making love since they hope they are not falling for each other) and by every orifice.
Broken bored me, really, like a broken record.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pas la qualité qu'on attendait, Aug. 7 2011

5.0 out of 5 stars Great service, great location, grand murder: perfect vacation!, July 5 2011
This review is from: The Murder Stone (Paperback)
This is my favorite Louise Penny so far. The New York Times Bestseller The Murder Stone (in UK&Canada)/A rule against murder (in USA) is her fourth book. A classic, in that all the suspects are vacationing (stuck?), one hot and sticky summer, in a grand old log hotel in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, lost in the forest, overlooking a private lake, and surrounded by wildlife, especially hungry mosquitoes. Lots of atmosphere, lots of weird suspects, lots of motives. All the clues are there: see if you can figure out the HOW!
Following The Cruelest Month, The Murder Stone is followed by The Brutal Telling.
