1.0 out of 5 stars Horable!! Don't waist your time!!, May 10 2004
This review is from: Scarlett [Import] (DVD)
In gone with the wind, Scarlett was a little bit of a brat, but she at least had some morals!!! I this movie, Scarlett (who you remember loved Ashley until Melanie died) has become hated around Atlanta because of the fact that she chased after Ashley so long. To save her dignity, Scarlett runs to Rhett's mothers house, where she stays for a time (much to Rhett's dismay). When a turn of events gets Scarlett kicked out of Mrs. Butler's home, she eventually ends up in Ireland with a baby that Rhett has no idea exists.
In Gone With the Wind, Scarlett married many men for their money, but she was not going around sleeping with men out of wedlock, which turned out to be a very bad idea!
Also, the boathouse scene was such a corny idea!!!
This is defiantly NOT a good sequel to gone with the wind.
The woman who played Scarlett couldn't even begin to compare with Vivien Leigh. Maybe someday they will remake this movie and actually take the time to choose good actors and write a decent story line!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Life is truly Beautiful!!, May 10 2004
Unlike most movies, Life Is Beautiful has managed to mix romance, comedy, and incredible sadness and coming out with an amazing film!
In the start, we meet a young Italian man named Gweedo. He and a friend move to the big city and move in with his uncle. On random occasions, Gweebo unexpectedly bumps in to Dora, a schoolteacher. This develops in to a budding romance, and they eventually get married ad have a son, Joshua. This is where the sadness begins. On Joshua's birthday, he and his father are taken away to a concentration camp, and his mother talks her way in to, not wanting to be separated from the rest of the family. Joshua, not knowing where they are going, becomes frightened, and Gweedo, in an attempt to calm him, Gweedo invents the story of 'The Game'. In The Game, whomever gets to 1000 points first wins a tank (Something that Joshua really wants). One of the best ways to get points is to remain hidden from the Nazis.
This was a very well made and thoughtful film, and in the end, you will truly believe that Life is Beautiful!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Woman: the best movie in the entire pretty world!, Jan. 29 2004
This review is from: Pretty Woman [Import] (DVD)
Everyone knows this story, whether they've experienced certain parts of it, or just love it pure & simply because it's terrific. And if you haven't seen it, why not?! Go out and get it now. Go on!
This is the one Julia Roberts film that can never be out-done. No amount of Erin Brockovich's can beat this movie. This catapulted Julia into the big-time, mainstream movies, and she's now one of the highest paid actresses. I dunno whether something like Pretty Woman was never done before this, or whether I'm just sick of Julia Roberts now, but she won't come across a script as good as this again. Not even the supposed "sequel", with Richard Gere & Julia reteaming (they could go all the way and do a Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks) with Garry Marshall and Hector Elizondo for Runaway Bride. Nowhere near as good. But that's a different movie.
The actors are great, and I think it's the only Richard Gere movie I've ever seen - apart from Runaway Bride. The night elevator operator's face (Patrick Richwood) is an absolute picture most of the time, and he makes you laugh just by looking at him.
Of course, everyone knows that Julia's character, Vivian, turns from a poor hooker, into a rich lady. I much prefer Vivian as the hooker. When you first meets Edward (Richard Gere), she's fine, she's cute, and he gives her all this money, and she turns into a frumpy, awkward lady. The clothes are ill-fitting and really don't suit her.
In a few years, when Julia Roberts is old and grey (Richard Gere already was old & grey in this!), this will be considered a classic.
Watch out for a very much blink and you'll miss him role of the detective, played by Hank Azaria. I've seen this movie a hundred times, and it's the first time I noticed him!
The songs are terrific in this, from Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman" to Natalie Cole's "Wild Women Do" (the video is not impressive though). The best song is of course, Roxette's "It Must Have Been Love", played as Vivian leaves Edward. It's a very poignant scene, and I always play this song if I'm feeling down about something. The lyrics match any relationship problem perfectly, and matches the scene in Pretty Woman

All My Loved Ones

5.0 out of 5 stars All My Loved Ones, Jan. 27 2004
This review is from: All My Loved Ones (DVD)
All My Loved Ones is the story of a young Czech boy named David Silberstein and his large 'family'. At the start of the movie, we meet David's family, such as his best friend Sosha. During the course of the movie, we see how, little by little, the nazis begin to take control of the Jews life, starting with small things such as cars, and working up to David's father's (Dr. Silberstein) job. At long last, The Silbersteins make a last attempt to save David by putting him up for adoption in Great Britain, thanks to English stockbroker Nicholas Winton, who saved hundreds of children through this method.
This movie is very historically accurate, and is also a very good story.
But, I must warn you, be ready to cry your heart out!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good movie if you like complete fiction!!!, Dec 8 2003
This movie is not even close to the real story of Anastasia! It is very unlikely that Anastasia would have survived the REAL way she and her family were attacked, but I'm not going to tell you how because it's pretty grosome. I will tell you, however, that Rasputin did not do magic, No one actully stormed the castil, and Anasasia's grandmother was NOT there at the time! Plus, I watched this when I was a little girl, and I got scared to death! I gave this 2 stars because it is a good story(even if it is made up!).

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Movie Since Toy Story!!!, Dec 4 2003
This review is from: Holes (Bilingual) (DVD)
This movie was one of the best movies I have seen in a while, and for those of you who say the book is better then the movie, Then do you know who wrote it? Louis Sachar, the author of the book (I know this because of the DVD Features)!!! Holes is very interesting, as it has something for everyone. There is lots of comedy, mystery, and even a little history! In the story the main character, Stanley Yelnats(Stanley is Yelnats spelled Backwards), is hit with a pair of shoes on his way home from school. The shoes belonged to Sweat Feet, a famous athlete, who had donated the shoes to the homeless shelter where he had grown up, and Stanley is blamed for steeling them. As punishment, he is sent to Camp Greenlake (which is neither green nor has a lake) where he has to dig 1 5ft by 5ft hole a day. At the camp he meets the D-tent boys, one of which has an interesting story to tell.
As well as an interesting story, Holes also has an awesome cast, such as Shia Beouf, Jon Voight, and many other very talented actors. Also, Holes has some really cool music, like "Just Like You", "I Will Survive", "Don't Give Up" and many others!
I highly recommend Holes to anyone who is looking for a movie that glues you to your seat, or someone who just wants family movie that also interests the parents.
So, If you are looking for a good movie, then You've found one!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST SEE, Sept. 19 2003
This review is from: Captain January (VHS Tape)
This is a very good movie! I am a Shirley Temple fan, but I think that even if you are not, you will still love this movie! Shirley plays Star, a child that was in a ship wreck and was found by Captain January, a lighthouse keeper. There is an evil truant officer who is trying to take Star away from "Cap". This movie has something for everyone. It has a lot of really funny parts, but it also has a very good plot. There are some good songs in the movie, such as,"At the Codfish Ball","Early Bird",and "The Right Somebody To Love". This is a very good movie, A must see for anyone!

1.0 out of 5 stars ashley is nothing like Shirley!!!!!!!!, Sept. 17 2003
I don't want to offend Shirley Temple(shes my favorite actress), but I did not like this movie at all. I have read Child Star, and the movie is nothing like the book! Plus, Ashley Orr did a terrable job as Shirley! Shirley had a differant, yet very cute, voice, which ashley does not have, and by trying to copy Shirley's voice she made it worse! If you want to know more about Shirley, then read Child Star, by Shirley Temple; Shirley Temple American Princess, by Anne Edwards; Or watch one of the real Shirley Temple movies. DON'T buy this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Love Shirley Temple, But I HATE this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
