An excellent texbook for the HR Management beginner, April 17 2001
This textbook is designed to let the student extract the maximum information in minimum time. There is enough graphics with tables, charts and bullet points and some passages are in gray. When you read it, you realize that HR Management is no brain surgery, just the appliacation of principles, common sense, fairness and decency. The book has plenty of useful references and readings for those who are interested in further HR reading, but covers comprtehensively all the basic stuff, incl. HR history and some real-life examples. However, since it is a textbook, the only point to improve in the next edition, is boxing or highlighting all the definitions, and adding some poignant Australian examples.

Best book on the subject so far, Jan 7 2001
Even though Dr. Kerzner mentions "Knowledge Management" (KM) throughout the book many, many times and how important it is in the PM world (in one form or another), an actual chapter/subchapter on KM is regretfully missing. Moreover, since Dr. Kerzner's work is now being considered as the Bible of the PM industry, all of the definitions used should be prominently identified.

This could have been a contender!, Dec 29 2000
A potentially interesting and inspiring story, masacred by a journalist. While Ms. Mackenzie sees, she has a problem to smell, hear and feel. Even though we get into the Cave, she never pulls her reader into the mind and body of the Protagonist; and, while Tenzin Palmo has undoubtedly plenty to say, she says a precious little. The definition of Enlightement, why to get it and what to do with it after you get it - is hardly there, and the accomplishment of it by the Protagonist, has been circumvented. Has Tenzin Palmo been truly Enlightened, or just Entertained/never bored? One has to wonder. And, why should Tenzin Palmo seek "Enlightement" while those who already have it, behave like dirty old men? And why those (dirty old men), who supposedly believe in Reincarnation, treat women like dirt? Have they ever been or will plan to be women themselves and get back what they dished out? Where is their logic or even their respect for Karma (cause and effect) pertaining to their actions? Are they truly practicing what they preaching? Or, as Dalai Lama himself says: "Spy on your guru for ten years or more before you can trust him?" Are things in the spiritual enlightement world even worse than in Corporate America or in the Oval Office? Is twelve years in the Cave (Tensin Palmo), or twelve years on the Rock like the Birdman (of Alcatraz), Machine-gun Kelly or even Al Capone the passport to Enlightement? And, moreover, why Tenzin Palmo, who left the world of the Mammon, is returning to it now, begging? Absence of Indian visa or the lack of computer skills?

An Honest Book., July 22 2000
Even though I am a big fan of Elvis Presley, I have never read a book about him before but - I read this one in one sitting! However, without being judgmental about her permissive parents, the book is traight forward, answers a lot - nearly all. And, if Priscilla Presley tried to put her point across, she succeeded with me. Now I am a fan of Priscilla, too. Sorry, Cilla, it took me so long!

Now we'll see!!!, Jun 12 1999
I found the book in my apartment. How it came to my possession, I don't know. Maybe a visitor forgot it there. Read it from cover to cover in two sittings, even though I should have been doing something else. I just couldn't put it down. A few of very interesting "miracles" happened even to me, but it has been a while. I need one now. Therefore, I'd like to put the book to test. There's, on page 134, a story, where Susie Henderson's therapist tells her: "Ask the Universe for whatever it was she TRULY wanted, and to be very specific...." Well, here is my case, and I am being most specific.... I wrote a fantastic story about an American (bald) eagle named Elvis, born in captivity. After it was published, plenty of people read it and liked it a lot. They wrote me about it - but it got nowhere. This story would make a magnificent animated movie. Now, the CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises in Memphis, has MY LAST COPY in his possession. I want him to notice my book, read it, enjoy it and turn it into a very successful animated (musical) movie. Well, we'll see if this qualifies as a "small" miracle, too.
