4.0 out of 5 stars Very good knife for the price, July 14 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Very good knife for the price, very robust, the weight lets you know its in your pocket. Also to be noted, the knife in the pic does not show it, but this knife also has a finger flipper so you have the option of thumb stud opening, or index finger flipping the knife open. The assisted opening is very good for the size of the blade, it would be nice if there was a way that the knife could open faster, but this is a big knife so there's alot of steel to move.

The blade is just shy of 4" inches and the handle is a bit over 5" inches with the glass breaker tip. At the thickest part of the knife its 4 mm thick. Blade is as pictured with serrated and straight edge.

This knife screams to be put through some harsh everyday tasks with its heft and large, thick blade, but I doubt it will stand the test of time with the cheap white plastic washers they used on the blade where the pin goes to attach the knife to the handle.

Other things to point out for the manufacturer would be to add the option to mount the clip to the other side for tip up carry.

My biggest surprise was the clip, it is of very poor quality, for a knife of this size and quality, a better quality clip should have been used. The grip on the knife handle seems very durable, but its smooth, no texture on it. On the plus side it has finger grooves and gimping is almost the full length of the knife. Last note to the manufacturer please use standard hex screws, I had a very difficult time looking for the right screw driver bit and when I used it, the screws stripped and rounded out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great knife, potential to be Excellent!, July 14 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great knife for the price, its worth purchasing,

All these comments I mention below should not discourage anyone considering to purchase this knife, these are only suggestions to the manufacturer so they can improve this knife from Very Good to Excellent product.

My suggestions are that this knife should have the option to change pocket clip to the other end for tip up carry. Also if you're left handed there is no option to put the pocket clip on the other side. The grips are made of some smooth light weight plastic, at the very least there should be some texture to the finish so it has some grip to it. The plastic also does not feel of great quality, its good, but its not like G10. Not sure if this will be durable, only time will tell, but you get what you pay for.

The spine, and where the knife goes in has very sharp edges, there could have been some better finishing job to smooth/round out the overall finish of the knife. Its no big deal, I just took a small file and smoothed the edges out in a few minutes. This is just my option, others may not notice anything. These are minor details, but once you have the knife and play around with it you will start noticing certain things that can be improved. The last suggestion would be to use steel or brass washers where the knife and pin are attached to the handle, I noticed plastic white washers. Those should be changed when you get the knife for better performance over time.

Opens very fast, very smooth, like those expensive knives. Its very light for everyday carry. If the manufacturer fixes those small errors this knife would be an excellent 5 star buy, and I would definitely purchase again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tremendous value and quality!, Jan. 10 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This knife is fantastic! Its a large knife and fits great in the hand, the textured g-10 feels great and non-slip. Very fast speed safe opening design for such a large blade (3 3/4 inches, closed handle is 5 1/4 inches) and the finish one the blade itself has a nice bead blast or stone wash...its not a shiny finish. The blade is sturdy, no blade play and hefty, which looks to be able to handle everyday tasks including out in the field, camping, hiking, work...etc. The pocket clip is very good, there's no way this is falling out of your pocket. Can be positioned tip up or down. Worth every penny...get one you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll run out of things to cut before you even get through one disc, Oct. 24 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These discs are awesome, i've cut nails, wood, thin steel plate and I'm still on the first disc. Those black cheaper discs you get with most dremel tools are thin wafers, these discs are thick and well constructed. Excellent product, will definitely purchase again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clean water on the go, Oct. 24 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Excellent concept! I travel often and I don't like drinking water from faucets in hotel rooms or anywhere away from home. This product is a perfect solution for those who go hunting, hiking, fishing or those who travel often and want to guarantee each sip of water that you drink is filtered in an easy to use compact filter. The product is very small which can be carried in a pants or shirt pocket, or in a lady's purse. It virtually has almost no weight and looks to be well constructed. You can filter 20 gallons with this little item...amazing! Worth every penny.

The only thing that can make this product more amazing than it already is would be to add a gauge to know how many gallons or liters one has already used or someway to know that the filter is reaching the end of its use...is that even possible aquamira? Worth asking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Put your trust in a Night watchman impact baton, Oct. 24 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Excellent product, very well constructed, solid steel and has good weight to it and you can be sure that it won't fall apart after multiple use and it will be a good defense tool you can count on. Screw off cap on the back to adjust the level of tension when the baton is collapsed and keep it locked tight. The design is very well done, its very sturdy and doesn't fall open unless sufficient force is applied to expel the rods. It will take some practice to get the technique at first but once you get the hang of it, its rock solid! My only suggestion would be to use harder rubber on the front part of the baton where the tip is. After a while the rubber tends to rub against the rods when collapsing the rods back in for compact storage. *Note* this does not affect the function of the baton to be deployed, its extremely reliable. I would purchase this product again with confidence.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but could use improvements, March 8 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Just received the leather man sidekick today, very excited to finally see all the hype over the renowned Leatherman multi-tools (first time Leatherman buyer). First thing I noticed was that the sidekick came in a very nice box, opened her up and found a few items that came with the sidekick one of them being the infamous pouch, aside from looking nice its impractical as it doesn't have a strap to attach to a belt or a flap over the top to keep the knife from accidentally coming out the top if you sit down in a car and accidentally push the tool up & out and may lose it. The other item that came in the box was a caribiner to put on your belt loop or as a key-chain, very nice extra that came with the sidekick (thanks Leatherman). This multi-tool is heavier than it looks, but extremely well constructed so there's no worry about quality & durability. Big plus is the lock on the knife & saw which is accessible without having to open up the pliers.

My biggest dislike with this multi-tool is the smooth mirror finish on it, although it make look nice its absolutely makes this tool almost useless for field use. If your hands get sweaty in the summer or for use in rain or snow or working on some machine parts with grease this multi-tool has absolutely NO GRIP on it. Even the cheap $10 multi-tools I've owned had some powder-coat finish or some checkered grip, one even had some hard synthetic rubberized grip which made a huge difference when applying torque to whatever task you're are at. I noticed right away that my hands would slide around the smooth finish. Very disappointed with this considering its a brand name product and the price tag. The other cons are the bottle opener, I would have liked to have seen them sharpen the front end so as to be able to use this as a can opener. The file was also strange as one side was a rough file and the other was a useless waste of space with a ruler with NO numbers on it. They could have added a second file with a finer grit (no imagination on their part on construct)

Overall I rate this tool a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I suggest to anyone if you're looking to purchase a multi-tool & plan to spend the money try and find a store where you can see and handle the multi-tool any multi-tool. Test it out before you plan on buying to make sure you get the tool that best suits your needs.

I hope Leatherman takes into consideration the respectful, constructive feed-back the posters have made. Thanks again for offering a great line of products, hope to see some future improvements.
