Very funny and exciting movie with great performances from all the actors! They were able to repeat the success of the first movie with even funnier scenarios!
Just finished reading this huge trade of the "Our World's At War" saga and i really, really enjoyed it. I could hardly put it down. Even though it's the biggest comic book story I've ever read (nearly 400 pages!), it all went by very fast because it's so fast paced and full of action. The writing is compelling and the artwork outstanding. This was the first time I found Superman to be a relatable character that I could connect to. He's always been so iconic and "god" like in other Justice League stories, but here, facing such a galactic and overpowering threat, he seems a lot more human. I also really liked how this story directly affected a lot of other DC characters who also appeared in the story like Wonder Woman, the JLA,The Titans,Darkseid and Young Justice. This is just a really fun read and the best Superman story I've ever read.
I have to say I was kind of dissapointed with this book. I'd read a lot of great things about it online and couldn't wait to get the scoop on this "status quo changing" book. After I finished reading it however, instead of thinking "Wow, what a great DC tale", I thought "God, how horrible! Sue Dibney was brutally murdered for no real good reason, and The JLA now look like scuzzbags because it was revealed they've tampered with psycotic supervillains minds! And to top it all off, in a flashback sequence it was also revealed that Sue Dibney was violently raped by one of the psycotcic supervillains!" I'm sorry, I like adult comic book stories but in this context with heroes I grew up with it just didn't seem right. Elongated Man and his wife have always been lighthearted characters in the Justice League comics I read and seeing these horrible things being done to Sue simply for shock value made me feel kinda sick. I know she's not a real person but if you've read as many issues of "Justice League Europe" that I did you would feel the same as me. I was also disgusted at the poor treatment of another favorite of mine, the original Firestorm, Ron Raymond who is apparently killed in the series but never even gets mentioned afterward. This guy had his own series for 100 issues and this is how DC let's him be treated by Brad Meltzer just 'cos he's some bestselling mystery novel writer?! The book did have some good points however. The artwork by Rags Morales is striking and the original covers by Michael Turner are beautiful (as his art always is). I also like how the heroes are portrayed to act more like real people would act if they were in this situation. It just seemed to me that the deaths of some these characters were done only for shock value and not a real storyline purpose that would serve future stories. Tim Drake was the first Robin not to be orphaned and now, guess what he's an orphan. Wow. So Original. I could go on more about this but I'm sure you get the point. I'm a big DC fan who grew up reading many, many or their books, especially the lighthearted JLA and JLE books of the '90's so I guess I'm not impartial enough to critique this book fairly but if you have any attachment to these characters and want them treated with some dignity then don't buy this book. That's all.
