Three little words, Jan 29 2012
WORST. MOVIE. EVER. Two hours of my life I will never get back. Depression, bleakness, hopelessness, self-absorption, whining, self-pity and condescension do not make a person "smart", as the writer of this diabolically uninteresting movie seems to think. I kept thinking this movie would get better. To be fair, it did - WHEN IT ENDED. I am left with the feeling that I would like to find a noose in order to escape the swirling vortex of negativity that exemplify these characters and this movie. Terrible, awful movie. Why, oh why, when a simply awful movie is written is it declared to be "witty and smart" just because it is an independent? Independent movies can - and obviously are, in this case - just as terrible as any of the dreck being poured out by the big studios. "Acquired taste" does not begin to describe it - I would gnaw my own foot off in order to get out of another screening of this "film".

Excellent Show..would like more seasons available from Amazon, Jan 10 2012
In reading the review from the guy who ordered from Discovery Store, yeah, they have all the seasons. However, if you're ordering from Canada, they will KILL you on shipping. I was going to order a Mythbusters t-shirt for my son last Christmas, a $19.95 T-shirt BUT nearly $50 shipping to Canada! Forget it! The show, however, is absolutely awesome, no matter what season you get. It's fun to get the old ones because they're so awkward around the camera. By the 7th season they're old pros, but because they're so used to being filmed, the hilarity comes naturally. The weird chemistry between Adam and Jamie really works. Great show, makes science fun and accessible.

A surprising little book!, Jun 23 2011
I picked this book up only by chance and was happily surprised by it. Being a surgeon Gawande's examples lean heavily towards the medical community. But the universal simplicity of the idea - avoid complacency through checklists - belies how profound the little checklist can be. An absolutely enjoyable, thoroughly readable book that I have already recommended to several friends!

What are we ordering here?, Jun 11 2011
The problem isn't the DVD, it's the COMPLETE LACK of information about the DVD. It sure would be nice if Amazon would put a description of what we're getting in this "collection." What is it a collection OF? Is it a kid's DVD or appropriate for adult viewers? THERE IS NO INFORMATION GIVEN ABOUT THIS DVD!! Why would we buy it if we don't even know what it covers? Next time maybe Amazon could put some DVD chapter information on.

Get the David Attenborough version, Jun 12 2010
Oprah is good at a lot of things, but NOT good at narration. Through the whole series she sounds like she's reading a bedtime story to a five-year-old. It's very irritating and actually takes away from the brilliance of this amazing documentary. Stick with the David Attenborough version - there's no one better than he at narrating nature documentaries!

GET THIS VERSION, May 30 2010
The original UK version narrated by david Attenborough is far superior to the one narrated by Oprah Winfrey. Oprah is good at a lot of things, but she is NOT a good narrator.
