This is an excellent book for anyone with an interest in nature (plants and animals), for anyone wishing to learn more about the natural world around them, and for those who are new to this part of Ontario. It would also be an excellent addition to a teacher's library. The writing is engaging and informative. The author presents highlights of the natural world in southern and central Ontario (cottage country) that are based on his and other naturalists' observations in this region. He tells you what you can expect to see during each month and reveals some of the better natural areas. But this book is much more than just a schedule of seasonal changes and events. The author also describes many natural wonders such as bird migration, turtle nesting, and animal adaptations. He tells the reader what to look for in the night sky and explains some of the problems confronting the natural world.
