Any movie that begins with an apology can't be very good, Sep 24 2003
I was very disappointed with this movie. I've never heard of Asia Argento, so I was just kinda trying it out. Yeah, she's fine. This story however wanders aimlessly all over the screen in a way that is very disruptive to the enjoyment of its artsy-ness. I was particularly disappointed with the soundtrack. It seemed that the story being so out of focus was in need of some beat poetry to bring it together. Maybe the very artsy people will like this one, but I've got a better recommendation. Sex and Lucia. I would usually consider myself a very art-oriented person, but Scarlet Diva did nothing for me but anger me at the lack of art in an "artsy" shell. I wouldn't recommend this unless you're a huge Asia Argento fan in which case, you're gonna buy it anyways.

Fun stuff and GIRLS!, Aug 5 2003
First off, this game is [garbage] if the volleyball weren't so fun. Then add the fact that you have to "court" your partner buy giving gifts, such as swimming suits, food, teddy bears, and any number of accessories like hats and shoes. Sounds pretty girly, doesn't it. I have yet to show a girl this game and she not like it. The only time patience is required is when you first boot up. You have to go through a day of not much to do, culminating with a game of volleyball and if you haven't practiced before you start the "vacation", you're gonna get stomped. Oh yeah. Always say yes to the tour or you're really gonna have a hard time getting to play volleyball and that can be very disorienting. With nothing to do, you'll really be on a vacation just watching your girl lounge around. Not too horrible, but that leads me into the fact that if you don't buy sunglasses for your girl, her empty eyes will irritate you. This is a solid title with fun volleyball, addicting gambling and a very interesting plot between the girls. It's worth the money.

So much extra on this disc..., Aug 5 2003
Everyone loves the Wizard of Oz. If you don't know the story, just buy the disc. There are so many extras on this disc, and they're wonderful. From deleted scenes, to outtakes, to interviews then and now, to biographical productions, to hour long specials from the eighties and more. There's more to this than anyone can shake a stick at. The movie is wonderful for kids of all ages, and the special features will keep adults of all ages entertained for hours. A testament to the production is that when I put this movie in, the girl I was watching it with was singing along with the vast majority of the songs. Kids will love this one. Just be prepared to skip ahead to the color sequences. I thought this was going to be a stripped down DVD with MAYBE a trailer, but there's just one descriptive word for this disc: Wow!

Wonderful movie with a great cast, Aug 5 2003
I've only seen this once and I really liked it. From what I remember, the story is about a boy and a girl who although they love each other, for some reason the girl is reluctant to get romantically involved with the guy. It chronicles his rise from a nine year old helping a stranger with some food and a bottle of booze to a not-so-starving artist, still pining for his childhood love, played by Gwyneth Paltrow. Awesome movie and although the ending can be seen from miles, the climax is very unexpected. Ethan Hawke playes the lonesome artist, and Robert DeNiro plays the ex-con he helped out as a child. To say much more would ruin it. I highly recommend this movie for any great literature fan, but for the drama lover, it's a treat that comes around not very often. Great cast, wonderful production, fabulous story. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I don't know what's on the disc on the way of special features. I'm a special features buff. Recognize.

Greatest Story Ever Told, Aug 5 2003
The movie itself is really good and the actors do a fine job. Bikes with lights in the 16th century? Did they even have bikes then? And I KNOW they didn't have anything close to resembling electricity then. I digress. I love the language in this. Typically Shakespearian, it might be pretty hard to understand at times. But the movie wasn't my disappointment with this disc. There are NO extras. You're getting a great, great story done by a star-studded cast and done admirably, but unless you happen to speak french, or just LOVE to tinker with your home entertainment system, then this thing is really lacking in special features. As a matter of fact there's not even a "Special Features" link. I don't think the damned trailer is even on this disc. Now that I've griped about it let me reiterate that this is a great movie. It's the story of 2 couples and some amateur players as well as woodland creatures such as fairies and satyrs. Stan Tucci sparkles as the protaganist Puck. Michelle Pfeiffer is radient as the queen of the fairies, Titania, and Kevin Kline is appropriately over-the-top as Nick Bottom. Puck and Oberon play a joke on Titania by transforming Bottom and charming her eyes to see him as a beautiful creature that she's totally enamored with. The two couples are involved in a web of he loves her, she loves another and another loves him. Oberon wants to set the record straight. Puck mistakes one for the other and the whole story gets turned upside-down and back again in this ancient comedy. The ending brought a tear to my eye as the unknown actor playing a man playing a woman in a play before the lord of the land steals the whole movie in the final act. The sights and sounds are euphoric and as star studded as this movie is, it comes as a surprise that not many went to see it in the theater.

Short. Very Short., Aug 5 2003
I was finished with this game in two or three days. It's way too easy. To play this game is to get a very bad idea of what another person plays like. The graphics are sub-par although the controls are plenty good. There are actually plenty of levels on which to compete, but the first few go by so quickly, that before you know it, you're at the end. Wait until the price comes down to 19.99. Then buy it. The graphics are that bad. This is no Quake.

It's fun for a while, Aug 5 2003
Then it gets too hard and very frustrating. I'm not a spider. I can't seem to find a way to crawl all the way to the top of the Vulture's "home." The controls are solid. The combos are pretty cool. The game seems big enough. It's challenging and fun at times. I can only play the same level about a thousand times before I get too frustrated to continue. I've got upwards of 30 games and this one is smack dab in the middle. If you're a big Spidey fan like me, get it. Just don't be surprised if it gets too hard.

Good Movie, Good Game, Aug 5 2003
This game really is outstanding. My biggest complaint is the graphics. Surely the development team could have done better in that area. I've played Max Payne and this is the idea that spawned that. Bullet time's done better here as well. Choose from the two main characters in the movie(which I haven't seen by the way), and battle your way through normal guards, agents and I'd expect the twins as well. You have to do things like taking out helicopters, stopping a plane from taking off, and there's even a hacking feature. I lost interest in this game, because I used to be a computer nerd and was disappointed by the shortness of the hacking. That notwithstanding, the action is good, the gameplay is tight, and the story is awesome. I'd advise renting before buying, as usual, but if you're a Matrix fan, this is a no brainer that doesn't disappoint.

Lacks depth, Aug 5 2003
This game does lack the depth of a strategy game. There ARE only 6 worlds, and some Snipe shots shouldn't kill. The sniping strategy is also rendered ineffective at times because of the length of viewable playing area. That said, this is a fun game. I was expecting something more along the lines of Hunter: The Reckoning. What I got was a first person shooter from a 3rd person perspective. That coupled with the ability to change your tactics with the commando you're currently using, makes for a pretty fun, if shallow game. It should not be missed however, that there will be or is downloadable content through Microsoft. Thereby lenghtening the game and adding replay value. 4 stars for fun but lack of depth. BOOYah!

One of those that makes you think, Aug 5 2003
This movie is really slow to begin with and you wonder why you've been watching for so long. The payoff comes fast and furious as a transmission from outer space quickly transforms the quirky character played by Jodie Foster into a world renowned scientist. I don't know who plays the eccentric billionaire, but he steals the show. James Woods is a very formidable antagonist and will not give in throughout this movie. He has national security in mind and does not budge on any of his stances through the movie. You really begin to hate Tom Skerrit's character until he gets his final desserts. Carl Sagan is a famous atheist, but this movie, which has been adapted from his book of the same name, is strangely a search for faith and a god we can all relate to. Ironic, huh?
