This book helped me through the Catholic Seminary transition of formation after being in the Canadian Forces for three years.

If you've been in the Military and want to make spiritual sense of boot camp read this book!

If you've never been in the Military this book reveals some insights of the dedication and courage of people in the Armed Forces.

Thanks Chuck for sharing your adventure with our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless your ministry.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3 Stars equal 3 Reasons why you need this book!, May 11 2005
This review is from: The Ratzinger Report (Paperback)
There are three reasons why you need to read the "Ratzinger Report":
1. If you want to know the state of the Catholic Church from it's top "German Shepherd" whose voaction consisted of keeping the Catholicity of the faith: read this book!
2. If you don't want to know the state of the Catholic Church, well, that's your problem: read this book!
3. If you haven't heard before,
the whole problem of the Catholic Church,
is that we are all part of it,
and if we are all part of the whole problem,
that means we are also part of the whole solution
therefore: read this book!

1.0 out of 5 stars One Star for Number One Book!, March 15 2005
This review is from: Surprised by Truth (Paperback)
I gave this one star because it is the one and only book of conversion stories that moved me to become one true Catholic after many years of taking my faith for granted.
There are many books about protestant conversions but this is one of the best. From one story to another, the 11 converts in this book present a biblical and commonsensical explanation of why many are converting or reconverting back or into the Catholic Church.
There are many ways to praise this book, but there is only one way to find out for yourself: buy it, read it, share it, and live it!
God bless Patrick Madrid: www.catholic.com

5.0 out of 5 stars The needed voice of peaceful silence in a world of decadence, Feb. 5 2005
This book taught me a great deal about cultivating an inner silence of peaceful surrender through the holy example of the Carthusian Monks.
Their hidden life of silence must be heard by all who are living in a stressful world of superficial noise.
If you want to know why a person would give up his life in total contemplation and isolation, this book is a good resource to have.
If you want to understand the power of prayer in your life, this is a book of living witness.
"If the world is becoming worse, it's because there are more people fighting, than praying!"
St. Bruno, pray for us!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Read for everybody..., Aug. 22 2003
This book was read over table in our Seminary (Catholic). The book dispelled a lot of our misconceptions and misunderstanding about the ministry of exorcism. It gave us a practical everyday guide of why; where; when; who; and how about the subject. A must read for everybody - especially good for the skeptics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Manual for the New Evangelization, June 20 2003
This is the one book that really opened my eyes to the reality of the issues about most non-catholics. This book is the practical guide to anyone who always wanted to share their Catholic faith to non-catholics but don't know how. Offer lots of Prayers for the conversion of non-catholics and then follow what this book says. It is not our clever arguements that converts people but the loving grace of Jesus Christ our God. As St. Francis said: "Evangelize always using words only when necessary." This 'Search and Rescue' book really shows 'How to Bring Your Family and Friends Into, or Back Into, the Catholic Church.'

5.0 out of 5 stars "The" guide, bar none!, May 14 2001
Whew! The "Catholic Christianity" is the one that explains the doctrine of the Catholic faith in a down-to-earth manner (pun intended).
Reading the book awakened my faith into a new level, I realized the Catechism's principal task is to present the Christian faith more accessibly to lay people; to understand the Catholic faith without needing a Philosophy degree. If you have a QUESTION, 9 out of 10, you'll find the ANSWER in this book. After all the Catechism was a product of the ordained Council of Bishops and Saints springkled with common sense, so rest assured that they are all Holy inspired. Think about it...it's a money back guarantee!
