5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful CD for your nursery!, April 23 2002
This review is from: Babys First Mozart (Audio CD)
As a first time parent I want to give my child every advantage I can. Studies have shown that playing music to your child helps to enhance their learning ability.
I saw "Baby's First" cd series and as they were so affordable I decided to go ahead and buy them without hearing them first.
My decision has been rewarded! The cd's are very good, and provide hours of music to stimulate my babies mind.
Buy this CD today, you won't be disappointed, and neither will your youngsters! :)

A Painted House
A Painted House
by John Grisham
Edition: Mass Market Paperback
242 used & new from CDN$ 0.01

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a typical Grisham book, but enjoyable nonetheless., April 23 2002
This isn't your typical Grisham legal thriller, but I found it enjoyable anyway.
This book takes you through the life of a small Arkansas farm family as seen through the eyes of a 7 year old boy.
Luke tells his tales of cotton picking and daily life in an almost Huck Finn like nature.
Although I felt the story left a few lines unfinished the book was still enjoyable and made for an easy read.
Try this book out today if you like Grisham, you may be surprised to find he can write something a bit different.

Skip Across the Ocean
Skip Across the Ocean
by Floella Benjamin
Edition: Paperback
16 used & new from CDN$ 2.79

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting book to add to your children's shelf., Feb. 14 2002
This review is from: Skip Across the Ocean (Paperback)
I bought this book to get a more worldly view of nursery rhymes. I wanted to read some of the rhymes that are told to children in other countries, and wanted to expose my future kids to other cultures.
The book does all of this with over 30 rhymes from various countries around the world. Some of the rhymes don't really rhyme as that was lost in translation, but it's still fun to see what is told to children in that country.
Each page is a colorful bonanza of illustrations to accompany the rhyme.
It's sure to keep your child's attention on the page as you read the rhymes.
I recommend this book to anyone wanting to inject a bit of worldly culture into their child's reading time.

How to Make Your Own Picture Frames
How to Make Your Own Picture Frames
by Ed Reinhardt
Edition: Paperback
21 used & new from CDN$ 1.31

3.0 out of 5 stars A good book for the beginner., Feb. 14 2002
This book is a good book for the beginning woodworker, or someone who wants to make a few frames for their photos.
It offers step by step instruction for building standard mitred frames, cutting mats and glass, and construction techniques.
If you want to simply make some traditional frames this book will definitely help you out.
On the down side the book hasn't been updated since 1958 and as such it's woefully out of date. It uses and describes all hand tools, some of which are not even available any longer.
There is no information about the benefits of a power mitre saw, radial arm saw, or any other power tool which would greatly help in making frames.
Additionally I was hoping that the book would outline some non traditional frames, such as mortice and tenon jointed frames. It did not, only standard mitred frames.
Overall I would recommend this book for someone totally unfamiliar with frame making. But if you have a basic understanding of woodworking and understand mitre cuts then this isn't the book for you.
