To confusing and out there to entertain the average joe, Jun 12 2003
Frost portrait of a Vampire is a strange movie. And with coverart like the one it's got most people will avoid it. However there is some story to it so might as well explain. Frost starts off with a blind Gary Busey examining a crime scene. Apparently he has heightened senses and can give a more accurate examiniation as to the cause of death. From there he spins the tale of an old Friend named Frost who almost lost his sight in the Gulf War. While there his best friend gets attacked by a vampire. After the war they all go there seperate ways. During that time period the friend gets killed and comes back as a Vampire. From there he slowly trying to understand what he has become. The problem with this movie is that it feels to much like a made for TV movie and or like a book. Each segment is seperated into chapters literally and the story is very confusing. Unless one really pays attention to what is going on during the story they will get lost (I almost did and I was paying attention). It's a decent movie but it's a little out there, a little artsy fartsy, and just overall bizzare. If you don't pay attention you will get lost.

A surprisingly good follow up to Dracula 2000, Jun 12 2003
Yes they made a follow up to the not very like Dracula 2000, but there was enough of a fan basis that they did so. The edn result is two parter that gets off the a surprisngly good start. At the end of Dracula 2000, Dracula is hanging underneath a cross burning in the morning sun. After his body is exstinguished he is taken to a local morgue where some medical students discover that the body is that of Draculas. In the meantime a Vampire Hunter who works for the Catholic church (Think John Carpenters Vampires for a moment) is out to retrive and destroy the body. However a mysteriouse benefactor claims it first. The story is actually a good start to the followup and actually has a strong cast to support it. With star Power like Craig Sheifer (Hellraiser Inferno) Jason Scott Lee (Dragon the Bruce Lee Story) and Roy Schneider (JAws) this chapter in the series is surprisngly entertaining and with a certain flair that makes one forgive the fairly laughable Dracula 2000.

Easily the most disturbing chapter in the series, May 30 2003
While the Berserk series has been violent it has also been wuite calm in a number of episodes, until now. Throughout the series we witnessed Guts first encounter the band of the Hawk, and then from there help them lead them while under the leadership of Griffin to many victorys. In the time he also earned a reputation as the 100 man slayer and also gain to some degree some inner peace. Until now. This set of episodes is by far the most violent and disturbing chapter in the series. It starts off with Guts, Caska, and other members of the band of the Hawk attempting to rescue Griffin who a year earlier raped the Princess after his crushing defeate to guts. Griffin in that year was tortured worse than any man. Guts and the group finally find him but not in the state that they remember. As they try to escape the King sends his army to stop them. From there Guts goes Berserk (no pun intended) as he easliy cuts through the armies like they are nothing. However after they escape Griffin begins to realize his destiny and runs away from the band of the Hawk. THey of course follow unaware of the horror that would soon ensue. The pendant that Griffin had carried with him finally takes shape during the solar eclipse and his destiny is finally set as the leader of the armies of Hell. In order for Griffin to become the leader however one last sacrafice needed to be made, the Band of the Hawk must die. At this point the series goes into it;s most horrific state as many of the characters we grew to love throughout the series die very violently and the episodes ends with band dead, Guts pinned by a demon with more wounds than he has ever ensued and Caska being raped by Griffin. Where the series leads from here I am not sure. I got into the series through the DVD and in all honesty I have not read the Mangas. However this DVD and it's episodes fall directly into the WTF catagory and also most disturbing episodes of the series. Where this leads who knows but it is a must see if you have seen the entire series.

HAve ratings really gotten so weak, May 22 2003
As with Kangaroo Jack and Darkness Falls this is another entry that makes me question the rating system anymore. National Security is a title that five years ago would of been R for language. Today it is PG-13. The story behind National Security is that Martin Lawrence is training to be part of the LAPD. However with that mouth of his and recklessness he never passes training. Steve Zahn is a cop who just lost his partner in a shoot out. Martin Lawrence one day accidentally locks his keys in his car and is trying to reach in to open up his car. Zahn shows up thinking Lawrence is trying to steal the car. LAwrence starts throwing his mouth and eventually Zahn trys to arrest him, a little more forcefully but still trying to arrest him. Then a Bee shows up which Lawrence is allregic to. Zahn trys to swat it as Lawrence is screaming like a school girl and a family get this all on tape. Zahn is arrested and goes to jail for 6 months. WHen he gets out he becomes a security guard. From there he inadvertadly ends up working with Lawrence and they get tangled in a big crime scheme. The reason this should of been R is language, probably the deciding factor in many films. LAwrence uses every piece of profanity in the book with this movie and it still ends up with a PG-13 rating. Overall this movie should of been R or at least found something less colorful for the dialouge. THey might as well of had some Nudity in there as well becasue I doubt the R rating would of been given for that as well.

A step Under SOTN, May 17 2003
With each new entry into the Castlevania Series on GBA it only gets better. This is by far the best entry of the Castelvania Series for GBA. THe story revolves around SOma Cruz who is a high School student who during an Eclipse get trapped in Draculas Castle. Inside he meets Arikado (ALucard) J. (a Belmont) Grahm (Born at the Moment Dracula was last Slain) as well as others who have had ties to Castlevania in the past. Soma somehow is given the ability to absorb the souls of monsters. He must use this ability (along with a vast array of Weapons) to explore and eventually escape Draculas Castle. The reason this is the best of the GBA titles is that it combines the best of both games. It holds the mass expanisve castel qualities that both games held, more Difficult that HoD but easier than CotM. THe fights are varied (although some still return Death, LEgion). The real uniqueness to this is the soul absorbing system. By doing this Soma gets over 100 new abilities that he can customize for the situation. One moment he may need extra Defense, the Lightening attack, and the ability to walk on water, the next he needs the Fire Storm, Extra Offense, and an Imp as backup. The possibilites are endless. Overall this is the best entry thus far. It is not as hard as CotM was (which was very BArabaric) but it is not as easy as HoD (which was laughably easy). This is definatly a must have if you have a GBA.

A solid game for when it was made., May 17 2003
LEts get the facts straight right now. Compared to fighting games (both 2D and 3D) of today this game is dated. However when it was first made (1995/1996) this was actually a solid fighting game. Let me explain. When Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Battle 22 was first made it was during the Era that Street FIghter had been dominating, without the Super Moves or Alpha COunters. Mortal Kombat was releasing it's second entry into the Home market and Dragon Ball Z was shown every now and then on some random networks. Thus the game never saw state side. AS for the game itself it is just like previouse entries in the series with characters ranging from Frieza to Majin Buu. The combat is the same Dpad manuvers that Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat ensued and actually some moves were taken from the 2 (E. Hondas Headbutt, Johnny Cages Shadow Kick) and the projectiles all looked the same with a few noted differences. The only projectiles different are Krillians Destruco Disk, Piccolos SPecial Beam Cannon, Zarbons Eye Laser, ans some of Android 18 moves. As for extras there is nothing hidden here. They give you the code to unlock 5 extra characters in the instruction (3 of which involve GOku) and basically it is a simple fighting game. So considering the time the game was made it is a solid entry. The reason game reviewers in the major magazine bashed it was the fact that it is dated. However it is like I said this was made when Street Fighter 2 was at it's strongest and Mortal Kombat 2 was dominating the market as well. This a solid CLassic Fighting Game.

For the Fans, May 17 2003
At this point it is well known that the Star Trek series is directed at fans only. Just as Enterprise is slowly going down the tubes along with every other Sci-Fi TV show out there this film was not well recieved. However despite that problem the movie is actually pretty good and is a good way to end the NExt Generation Saga. The story here is that Riker and Troy have finally gotten married. Before they leave on their honeymoon (and Riker to his new Ship) the Enterprise makes a detuer to a planet with a strange anomally. After a brief exploration (in a Jeep like vehicle) they discover another Android similar to Data. They take it aboard and it ends up being a Proto-type. Meanwhile a group of rebeliouse ROmulans are planning an attack on Earth lead by a clone of Picard. What then ensues is that they battle to the death with a sacrafice that not even I saw coming. Overall this movie is for fans of the NExt Generation who have stuck with it through all these years. This is the final film and it did end with some style.

Another WTF movie, May 14 2003
Strangeland is not a horror film, or at least an ordinary one. True chances are you will find this in the Horror section of most rental or retail however as in content, it ranges more along the lines of a suspens thriller. Dee Snider plays Captain Howdy and sexual predator who lures teens through an online chatroom. From there he tortures them with piercing. For the first half of the movie he is basically torturing his victims and being poetic. Then in the second half he has been rehabilitated after his arrest. However a group of drunken hicks don't like it so they hang him. From there he reverts back to his old ways and gets his revenge. The reason this is a WTF movie is because of content. IT holds gratiouse nudity and scenes of torture. THis is not for everyone however as it is most nausiating. Proceed with caution.

A comedy classic that stands alone, May 7 2003
Analyze this is a funny movie, there is little doubt of that. However it is not the premis here that is funny (well it is but there is more to it than that), but what makes this really funny is that Robert DeNiro is spoofing some of his most memorable roles here. Let me explain. Robert DeNiro plays Paul Vito, a head of one of New Yorks most infamouse mobs. One day one of his best friends is murdered in a drive by. From there he decides to track down who it was that called the hit. However in his search he sufferes an emotional breakdown and needs therapy. One of his lackies takes him to Billy Crystal who is very reluctant to treat him. The end result is a very funny movie where DeNiro just won't quite and will do anything to be treated, using of course his powers of persuasion. Analyze this is a comedy classic, with a funny cast, jokes that are hits, and plenty of humor to pass around, this is a classic for the ages.

A typical sequel, May 7 2003
There is little doubt that Analyze this was one of the funniest movies to have come out in a long while. The basic premise that DeNiro is spoofing the mafia roles he has done in the past while Billy Crystal is trying to help him get over his anxiety was pure genius. Then came the sequel, and well it treads on familiar territory but doesn't do much else. The story here is that DeNiro is still in jail after 3 years (wasn't the sentence only 18 months) and he is up for parole in a few weeks. In the mean time Crystals father just died. In jail some one is out to kill DeNiro. From there he fakes a mental illness to get out. When he first arrives in Crystals custody immediatly it is revealed that it was all a hoax. Then for the first 24 hours at his place things go not quite as planned. Soon after DeNiro goes job hunting while trying to figure out who is trying to kill him. He eventually gets a job on this TV mob story (think Sopranoes) and he adds a little moer realism to the show. Eventually he figures out who is out to get him and he sets up this huge gold heist to frame the family that is trying to rub him out. For the first half of the movie it is truely a funny piece of work. Especially DeNiro singing West SIde Story as part of his hoax. However after he goes job hunting the movie starts to lose something as the comedy goes stale and there seems to be to many physical jokes revolved around Crystals groin. SO over all the movie gets a strong start, but the story goes flat rather quickly after the first half and quite frankly it could of been better.
