1.0 out of 5 stars So many cliches, Oct. 18 2015
I really enjoyed the start of this series, even to the point of buying all four on both Audible and Kindle. Yet had to return them due to some of the logical errors and to much filler.

This could be a great book if he got an editor, and had some more people proof read them as well. Find the 1 book broken into 4 so can sell for more money a bit annoying, especially when so much is just filler. Could be an amazing tightly paced book in the 600 page mark. Don't think enough material or a well built enough world to make it into a trilogy.

The Pros:
He writes good dialogue and really brought the characters to life. Though some of that credit goes to Simon Vance the Narrator.
The stat of a good idea for a world, just needs fleshing out.

The Cons.

Really another kingly looking orphan found under mysterious circumstances in a rural village where no one knows his true brilliance and treats him badly until he gets a chance? So overdone, do love the build up of characters from a zero to hero, but even with the magical hacks and montages the author used he is one overpowered 17 year old in a very short space of time.

Surprisingly enough one of the issues that bothered me the most was his logic, stuff just did not make sense. A couple examples, the Country is preparing for the end times, the freaking end times. So you would think there would be a lot of martial buildup going on in the provinces, yet there is nothing mentioned.

The most beautiful princess in the world who is going to help save the world is barely guarded.

The contest to find guards for her, only takes in 6 people every 10 years. Really? Want to slap the author for that. Assuming max service of 30 years with no injuries / deaths of people you would have 18 people to guard on a good day? Yet the author has them guarding multiple people and places on such a short staff. They must be the most over worked guards in all history, Also who would have special training grounds set aside to use only 10 years? What would the property developers say, also who would clean that?

The magical thingamig that helps turn the protagonist into an amazing swordsman is also BS. Yet not in the way of it being there, its his world he can make the magical items he wants. Yet in a world gearing up the apocalypse where there is going to be a lot of fighting this items not being used to train up an army of specially trained ninjas?

Seems he had a bunch of good ideas and wanted to put them all in. So instead of getting a few fully fleshed out, you get partial glimpses of half built scenes / plot devices.

This book has potential, yet its not worth 20 bucks for all four novels in the current state. If he gets an editor and trims it down, then yes I would reread.

Purchased this rack, and worst consumer product ever purchased. Chopsticks use better quality wood than this rack, and would last better under pressure.

Not durable
Badly Designed
Really really cheap construction and quality

Only buy this if you want to send more crap to the town dump.
