The Tempest
The Tempest
by William Shakespeare
Edition: Mass Market Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Commentary on an unusual play, June 12 2003
Shakespeare is not my favorite author, although I do understand the concept of his Iambic Pentameter and its style and flourishes are highly regarded. While I can appreciate the labor it must take to put a story in such format, I frankly find the poetics of it hard to read. That makes the commentary (which is about half of this version) very helpful to people such as myself. By reading the corresponding notes, I was better able to put the story together with the style, making for an exciting tale. I would highly recommend this version to people who have difficulty deciphering Shakespeare's style.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality reading, but a little dated, June 12 2003
This review is from: The Return (Paperback)
I read this book in 2003, 17 years after its publication, and while much of the reading is enjoyable and dotted with fascinating anecdotes and observations, I had to laugh at some of the frequent mentions of the Soviets and their communist plots. Naturally, at the time it was written, that was a valid threat, but now it is almost amusing to read such speculations about that particular superpower.
This is a well written book that provides solid information that the end of time IS near. I would recommend this to both Christians and non-Christians alike.

The God Chasers: "My Soul Follows Hard After Thee"
by Tommy Tenney
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars This book will stretch you, June 3 2003
Tenney uses powerful instances and examples to challenge the reader to expand their faith. If you are willing, this book will help you towards that goal. It is a powerful book that doesn't take long to read, but is highly beneficial to spiritual growth. I'd highly recommend this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Christian Fantasy, June 3 2003
Lawhead incorporates the Arthurian fantasy world with the Ideals of Christendom for an enjoyable scenario. Sometimes it is very slow paced, while others are fascinating and exciting. It was interesting, but i've not read any of the sequels following it in the past few years since reading this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Presents Numerous Examples of Questionable Behavior, June 2 2003
Like him or hate him, one must admit that Fmr. President Clinton was involved in countless suspicious activities, from female companions to shady money deals and absurd appointments and more, Coulter makes a case that Clinton might be more of a criminal than a leader.

Isard's Revenge: Star Wars (X-Wing)
Isard's Revenge: Star Wars (X-Wing)
by Michael A. Stackpole
Edition: Mass Market Paperback
Price: CDN$ 8.54

5.0 out of 5 stars Stackpole's return!, June 2 2003
I enjoy stackpole's x-wing books better than allston's. Both are capable writers, but stackpole's style foregoes much of the absurd *humor* allston slips into his books. A must read for those that have read the first 7 books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Read, June 2 2003
I recall this book being very enjoyable as it continues on the x-wing series in an exciting way, which is rather typical of the series. New conflicts arise amonst imperial warlords and the x-wingers are called into action. x-wing fans will enjoy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars So that's why they're the dark side..., June 2 2003
This has about 10 stories in it, the last being of 4 parts, written by both master authors, Timothy Zahn(my personal favorite) and Michael A. Stackpole, a great author in his own right. This last tale takes up about 100 pages and is really good. In fact, Many of these tales are quite good. One is about a medic assisting a recue team at an Imperial prison, one describes how Mara Jade came into Talon Karrde's service, and the others are good too. I highly recommend this collection of tales.

Tales of the Bounty Hunters: Star Wars

4.0 out of 5 stars Zuckuss is the sound I make when I sit down ;-), June 2 2003
This is a collection of five (5) stories of, well, I think it's obvious, Bounty Hunters. These bounty hunters are included: (they were all on screen in The Empire Strikes Back, when Vader had them come aboard Executor and breif them as to how the Millenium Falcon was to be captured, not destroyed.) Boba Fett, IG-88, Dengar, Bossk, and the team of 4-LOM and Zuckuss. IG-88's Tale is good, Dengar's tale is quite thick, almost painfull, Bossk's Tale is Okay, Boba Fett's Tale is interesting (it's all about him being in the Sarlacc) and Zuckuss and 4-LOM's tale is quite good. Overall its a good use of time but, some are noticably superior to others. Read it and you'll know what I mean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mmmm Plasti-foam!!!, June 2 2003
This book is divided into several short stories about various creatures that you saw lurking around Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi. Some memorable characters that are discussed are: Ephant Mon, Gartog, the dim-witted Gammorrean Guard (this one's hilarious), and Bib Fortuna. These are all kind of spooky, set in Jabba's dungean-like palace, but I've found that it was great to read in the winter(Minnesota Winter, which lasts for about 8 months, usually), because of the descriptions of the warm, hot, desert of Tattoine. This is a good collection of stories, and enjoyable to read.
