3.0 out of 5 stars Season 3 Screwed it up a Little., Aug. 2 2014
Felt like this season wasn't as strong as the first two. The last three episodes I was rather disappointed with how it all ended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Aesthetically pleasing, but the fun stops there., Aug. 2 2014
Looks pretty. Jolie is amazing, but I hated what they did to the story and the character journey.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just Awful!, Feb. 12 2013
This review is from: The Room (DVD)
Tom Wiseau, probably the worst thing to happen to cinema since...the invention of cinema! I can't believe that this guy who looks like he's a federally registered sex-offender got the green light and $6,000,000 to make this project! His writing, his directing and most of all the performances from not only him, but the entire cast are simply abominable. Still masochistically curious about it? Go to youtube and simply watch ANY scene that's available on there, and you'll be glad you didn't spend the $75 on this tripe of a film.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my Favorites!, Feb. 12 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Got this for less than $15 bucks off here! It was one of my favorite movies as a kid, so I have a bit of a nostalgic attachment to it. Having it on blu-ray is pretty frickin awesome! You can totally point out the scope and seams of the CGI tornadoes but I don't feel it detracts from the fun of the movie. Really happy I bought it I still get a smile on my face whenever I watch it.

Speed [Blu-ray] was definitely Jan de Bont's best film, but Twister [Blu-ray] here makes for a comfortable second place because of its cheesier attempts at drama. Tailing in third place is The Haunting where de Bont chose to sacrifice the script to be able to spend more money on visual effects to make the house the star instead of his actors. After Speed 2: Cruise Control Jan de Bont's directing career has practically been put in Park.

2.0 out of 5 stars Best on: MUTE, Feb. 12 2013
This review is from: Silent Hill (Widescreen) (DVD)
I will be the first to admit that Silent Hill is a gloriously haunting feast for the eyes in itself. But its charm and redemption all end there. The video game, turned horror-flick succeeds in its ability to immerse you in this horrific and terrifying world where all you can do is run, hide and pray for sunrise. So this is a great movie to have on with a lot of friends around, talking loudly and you can have your music cranked at the same time and it's actually a much better experience! Great for Halloween parties, especially! The characters suck, the performances suck and the writing REALLY sucks! Anybody ever seen The Room? (<----- Good luck selling this, by the way) Tom Wiseau - who looks like some kind of federally registered sex-offender - wrote, produced, directed and starred in this 2003 masterpiece of hot, salty garbage. I'm actually working on my BFA in Theatre, and if I ever feel like I'm having a bad-acting day, I just look at one of the many scenes available on youtube, and simply remember that I could be worse. At the same time I try to ignore the fact that on its IMDB page it says that Wiseau was given an estimated $6,000,000 for the project.

Silent Hill's acting efforts are perhaps a few cuts above that of The Room, but like all video game flicks it still falls short to have decent performances from its actors, but it's not entirely their fault. The script follows the very same video game flick formula of impossible people getting into (and sometimes out of) impossible situations with lots of people dying and buildings exploding or whatever their lack of plot calls for. I actually think that Radha Mitchell and Sean Bean are decent actors, but the work they're given here gives them nothing to do but react.

But when it's on MUTE and you catch it at one of its many scary sequences, the aesthetics of the world are genuinely horrifying.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just One Question:, Oct. 27 2012
First of all, let me say that I really do love all these films as I already own them all; you are a wonderful and very talented writer, director, producer and actor (and in that order). Though I am curious about why you left out some of your other pieces. Four Rooms, for instance, was released by your studio A Band Apart in 1994. You did write, direct and perform the ending scene with the by then jaded bellboy, Ted. But why not include it as well? And why was Sin City left out? I know you were only a special guest director, but I still think of you every time I watch it. And what about From Dusk Till Dawn? You wrote it, you were in it. Should have been included too. True Romance was directed by Tony Scott, but you wrote the script and that was included, so why not the others where you were not the director? Anyway, I am sure you have your reasons, it was just a thought I had when I saw that True Romance was in there, but some other great works of yours got left out.

You do amazing work, don't stop until you're dead.

1.0 out of 5 stars FAIL!, May 1 2011
I couldn't even make it all the way through "Bitch Slap". The story doesn't make sense, and it's nothing but these three hot (but disturbingly psychotic) girls that do nothing but go to pose after pose, and usually in slow-motion. I knew the acting was going to be awful, but it was so bad it couldn't even keep my attention for longer than half an hour. With bad acting, there are movies which have bad acting but it's still entertaining (like Showgirls) because it's so awful. This makes "Showgirls" look to be on-par with "Citizen Kane" (even though that movie is nothing but a 4-hour hand-job to Orson Welles' ego). It's not even one of those "so bad it's good" movies. Apparently it's supposed to be an exploitation film, or at least an homage to the genre. But this fails miserably.

"Bitch Slap" SUCKS!

2.0 out of 5 stars Delightfully Terrible!, May 1 2011
Paul Verhoeven's "Showgirls" is one of those movies you love to hate. No doubt, this is a terrible movie. The script is bad, the acting is bad, the music is bad, and it's all on the backdrop of a story that is more overdone than a burnt thanksgiving turkey. You might notice Elizabeth Berkley (and her "acting") from Saved By The Bell. Oh yes, here she is in her feature film debut and we see more of her than one would care to admit. The entire film is completely laughable, and makes for a great drinking game! You don't care about any of the characters, and any attempts at doing so just fall flat. The production values are pretty good, considering this was a rather large budget film. So if you want to watch a movie where you don't have to think...AT ALL, and just want to watch some hot chicks bounce around topless (and sometimes even less) for a little over 2 hours, and have a lot of fun making jokes about everything in this travesty of a film with your friends...Grab some shot glasses, your favorite shooter(s) and some popcorn and let the campy fun begin!
