4.0 out of 5 stars Had it for awhile and still happy, May 25 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought both this one and the Lepan on sale a few months ago. This one is a better value. I was vary based on some of the reviews, but it has been wonderful. Yes, once in a long while it locks up and occasionally the on button is difficult to get on, but it is generally very reliable and durable. It gets used many hours of the day by my family for youtube, games, reading online and more. I have a hard time getting it away from the kids. I am considering getting another now that it is on sale again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Able to breath again, April 10 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been suffering from breathing problems since flu season hit and also developed an allergic reaction to our new pet. It was so bad that I ended up with an inhaler. I plugged this in a few hours ago in our large living room area (which contains a wood stove and a pet cage) and I can breath easily for the first time in months! I'm going to give it a few weeks to see how it holds up and am seriously considering getting another for the bedroom area of the house as well. I don't find the lower settings noisy. Maybe in a small space it would be, but this is a larger room size unit. The amount of noise is a good trade off for being able to take full breaths without coughing or getting stuffed up.

As for the price, it was a great buy. I got it for about $160 which is much cheaper than at my local Home Depot, and it was delivered right to my door for free. It was worth the wait for it when it was briefly out of stock. It is also much lighter than I expected. I can easily move it from room to room or lift it up to open the filter area.

1.0 out of 5 stars Plot holes you could drive a truck through, Dec 29 2012

This review is from: Superman: Doomsday (DVD)
I bought several of the DC straight to dvd animations in the recent DVD blowout for a holiday marathon. This was by far the worst. The animation is serviceable but I am not attracted to the overly chunky style. The thing that made it worst in a group of 5 products is the laughable plot. Some of this is due to the condensing of a more complicated series of books into a short movie and much of it is the issues created by the Superman cannon as well. This is not for young children and there is mature content. SPOILER: The whole Superman/Lois/Clark relationship is laughable. Superman and Lois Lane are obviously intimate at the start of the movie, yet she does not recognize that he is Clark Kent and ignores Kent when he says goodbye for a dangerous posting in a warzone. Later she guesses that he is the same person and visits Ma Kent after Superman's death but after his resurrection seems surprised when he refers to himself as Clark. Lex Luthor is more watchable and interesting as a creepy obsessed stalker due to the voice acting of James Marsters, but the character is so twisted you can't like him. The plot is too simple for adults and the story is too mature for children.

Overall, I would recommend giving this dvd a miss in favor of the better written Batman:Under the Red Hood, or the better acted Wonder Woman animation DVD, which were both worth the money. This one is not worth the small price paid for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kid proof and worth the price, Dec 29 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My daughter eats headphones, literally! She is one of those absent minded chew on something kids and is hard on electronics in all other ways as well, like running them over with the wheels of her office chair. Before I bought these, I was replacing headphones frequently. However, these are much more solidly constructed than many other sets I have bought for her. The metal lined long cord and metal construction make them tough (although a bit cold when I steal them to use while shoveling snow)enough to last most anything. Are they the best sound possible? I'm not sure. They are good, but really I've paid more for ones that end up in the trash very quickly because they can't stand up to hard use. So in my mind, the best headphones are the best ones that you can depend on. The travel case is a nice bonus as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the DC Animation Bunch, Dec 29 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought several of these direct to DVD/Blu ray DC animation productions during Amazon's blow out sale for holiday viewing. This is by far the best of the bunch. The animation is good, not "wow look at that", but good. What makes it work is a combination of tight plot and excellent voice acting. Unlike the huge plot holes in some of the other comic book to dvd adaptions, this one does not suffer overmuch from translating the multiple books/issues into a movie. The plot hangs together and flows in a way that makes sense, has suspense, and makes you care about the characters.

The voice casting is excellent. Bruce Greenwood and Neil Patrick Harris are convincing in their roles as Batman and Dick Greyson respectively. John DiMaggio was a very pleasant surprise as the Joker. He is wickedly engaging. Even better was the casting of Jensen Ackles as the Red Hood. Known really only for his television work, he gave this antagonist a depth of emotion with just his voice that carries through the restrictions of this type of animation. This is a character that the audience needs to feel for and care about, and his acting made that possible. Without spoiling the plot, his character has legitimate reasons for both loving and hating Batman. He is a character who is morally grey in a DC comic world that is often too black and white.

We watched several of the DC dvds in a marathon, and this is the only one that I thought about after viewing and am likely to view again several times. It is well worth the discount price for the two disc set. The other disc is not really all that interesting with a few features on it that were not nearly as compelling as the main movie.

If you don't want to get stung by a bad description about what is included, head over to the comparison chart on the US Amazon site at http://www.amazon.com/Marvels-The-Avengers-Four-Disc-Combo/dp/B001KVZ6HK/ref=sr_tr_sr_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1341176078&sr=1-1&keywords=avengers because that lays out exactly what is in each package.
