Not for a novice quilter, April 3 2013
This book is not for a novice quilter. The patterns are attractive but challenging. You have to trace and then figure out the piecing. Too difficult! The stories are charming but the quilting is for advanced quilters.

This is a beautifull movie - non Hollywood., Mar 16 2012
This is a beautifull movie about a man's journey along the Camino (the way) of Santiago de Campostela in Spain. It is a pilgrim route followed by pilgrims for years and Martin Sheen decides to walk the walk in the place of his son who died while walking the route. He carries his son's ashes with him. He meets other modern day pilgrims along the way - a battered Canadian woman, a heavy Dutchman and an Irish journalist - and they form a bond. The scenery is beautifull. The path undertaken - the change in the characters, especially our lead - is wonderfull. Just a beautifull journey to watch and be a part of. Makes us all want to walk the Camino. Loved it.

Interesting info but too bulky to take along on port excursions, Mar 8 2012
I bought this for our last cruise. While the info is interesting it is not really portable to take along for a shore excursion. I think the Frommers book - I still had an old one - was much better. Pricing on these things never seems to be accurate anyway and the tourist info does not change much anyway!I don't think I would spend my money on this again.

Great chick flick movies, Mar 8 2012
This is a great DVD set for chick flick movies. The plots are simple but fun. Broken Lullaby is great, and the locations are fun with Vienna and Budapest. The clothes look pretty dated - 80s style, but just overlook it and enjoy the romance. A Change of Place is great with a twin going to Paris to fill in her for sister as a model. The romance which develops is unexpected for both. I don't think the actress playing the role looks like a model-type but it is a fun movie. Trecherous beauties is great. Love Emma Sams and the story is fun to watch. Great DVD set for the price.

This is a great movie - really needs a DVD release, Mar 8 2012
This is a great movie about an uptight high school principal who has just been making do in life and the Mexican man who challenges her to see life in a new way. I just love Ruben Blades in this. Who would not fall in love with him? I have watched my VHS version of this many times and would not sell it for 100 bucks, but wish it would come out in DVD. A great adult love story!

Really interesting idea but the characters are flat, Feb 27 2012
I read the whole book so it isn't that bad but it could have been SO much better. The first few chapters are great. You get involved in the different stories of four women - a woman whose daughter is off to university, a young woman taking care of her younger siblings, a pregnant teen and a woman about to get married. Of course things go badly for all of them but then they end up living together in the house owned by one of them. The problem is after the initial interest in the characters they all were so flawed I just did not like any them. We get a great beginning then the rest is RUSHED. Even Diana (who I think was suppossed to be the good one in all of this)was anoying and abrasive and Diana's dad Jim - why was he so attractive to Brodie? He had left his family and never came back even though he was in touch with his mate so he would ostensibly know Diana had been left to raise the boys on her own. The first half is good but the rest? How did Vanessa lose her weight? Why is Brodie's daughter so unreasonable about the baby? Why was Brodie so unreasonable? Why the mean aunt from Ireland? I read the whole book to find out what happened, but I wish the author had done a better job. Not a satisfactory ending at all.

Nice clean movie, Feb 1 2011
This is a nice movie about two people who have been hurt and find love yet are a bit afraid to really believe it can happen to them. A young boy writes letters to a soldier and they become friends, so one day when the soldier is home on leave he visits. He bonds with the boy over baseball and soon begins to fall for the mother too. It moves slowly and is very believable yet nice. I liked it.

Terrible movie, Dec 3 2010
This is the worst version of the Christmas Carol I have ever seen. In theatres with 3-D it might have been passable. At home it was terrible, terrible, terrible. The characters are neither animated nor live, so that is a bit of an in-between land. Scrooge never really warms up even at the end of the film. A big dissapointment.

Nice squares - some quite complicated, Nov 22 2010
I like the idea of being able to do squares and put them together into an afghan. This book is nice because the squares are quite varied in difficulty. I tried the beaded ones with little success! I am just finishing a baby afghan using a variety of squares so we will see how it works. The squares do come out uniformly in size and the explanations are easy to follow.

New characters and many old favourites!, Nov 22 2010
I had a slow time getting into this latest Maeve Binchy offering, but once I got involved have quite enjoyed it. Her recent books have lacked the charm of Tara Road, Cooper Beech, Evening Class etc, but this is quite fun to read. For any long time Binchy fan it is fun to read about what has happened to many of our old favourites like "Signora" and Aidan, Muttie and Lizzie, the twins, Frank and Clara etc. However it is harder to get involved with her new characters like Noel, Lisa and Moira. I think a collection of short stories bringing us updates on our old favourite characters would be a good offing next!
