* This book has provided preliminary introduction to the platform with exploring the technical underpinnings of the Mac OS X Java implementation. * This booke is good for new java developer for Mac OS X platform, someone can explore the pragmatics of Java development, including how to set up your development environment. * And makes you aware of Apple's various additons to the java platform and describes how to package and deliver an application to end users that looks and behaves like a naive Mac OS X application. * It has covers some recent features like Web start, Speech framework, Web service and Ejb and Jboss. * After that this book is good start for getting hands on the Apache web server running and supplement it with the jakarta Tomcat JSP and servlet containers.

Volume 1 covers java.beans to org.xml packages useful for server side development. Volume 2 covers java.applet to javax.swing packages useful for developing GUI application. This is is a review for Vol. 1. This book is not for begineers or not for learning A Java. This book is a good reference book for all the java Packages, Classes and Interface. Packages is useful when you need an overview of a package or what other related classes are available in a package. Classes gives complete detail of the ancestry of the class and a list of every member in the class. This part is useful when you're already working with a particular class and want quick reference to all of the members in the class. It has lots of hands on examples, which are very useful for finishing a particular task like, reading a file, sending a socket etc. like programmers need some basic routines, while coding. Learn more advanced about Jsp with other techniques., Mar 18 2002
This book really helps you to kickstart JSP and Struts based development, This book covers following issues - an overview of web programming with JSP and Servlets. - Struts Framework. - a range of basic techniques for handling the client-side of web site design, which includes HTTP and browser compability, frames,PopUp windows, Page layouts, the duynamic constructionof site navigation, error handling and logging. - tecniques for connecting Java web application to relational database, and for integrating them as part of an overall J2EE solution. - security and user management, visitor tracking and personalization. - XML.It looked at the web application framework that uses XML document fragment rather than JavaBean when passing data around, making it much easier to integrate with a web services back end. Many JSP developers will want to read this book to learn about Struts and other ways of producing maintainable JSP based web sites. This is not the kind of book you would read from start to finish but as a quick overview and reference of some advanced topics. Don't expect to become an expert by reading this book but you will have a good idea what you can and should do with JSP. Most JSP developers will find something new in this book but some will require more detail. We would recommend this book to JSP developers who have read the beginners JSP books and want to learn more about JSP.
