5.0 out of 5 stars A very good sourse for projects on embedded applications, March 25 2003
Embedded applications are increasing by the day. Many new areas are being explored. This book really makes things easier and it encourages to undertake good projects which could later be very useful in everyday applications. Full of ideas and suggestions. Although the microcontroller 8051/8052 is considered as outdated, this book is a good start. Once the basic techniques for the same are grasped switching over to other newer controller chips will be a cakewalk.
This book (along with other similar titles by author) bridges the gap betwwen academic persuit and real life applications. For every idea discussed, an innovative student can think of say 3 more new ideas. This is not just a book that gives a few projects, which you do and that's the end of the story. It allows you to evolve new ideas and enough grounding is provided such that you can implement the same with confidence and 100% success rate.
-For students in this field this book is a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent companion to the PC parallel port., March 25 2003
Another excellent book form Jan Axelson. Superbly written. Easy to understand lucid and still technically a completely reliable reference. Once the basics have been mastered one can develop a variety of applications (particularly control circuits). Equally useful for beginners, students and professionals. Good support material provided on auther's web-site. This book makes a good companion of the similar book on Parallel port interface by the same auther. Students looking for good projects will find this book extremely useful. Even self study is possible for a newcomer.
Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, March 22 2003
This book discusses wide range of topics, covering most aspects of C++ programming. At the same time the auther is meticulus and has dealt with the topics in depth covering finer points.
Many solved examples and additional excercises are given. The whole book is linked with a project, so the students will get to know how and where to apply (in real world situation) the topic which they have studied.
Excellent for both teachers and students.
Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book..!!! Highly Innovative..!!!, Feb. 21 2001
This is an excellent book both for a teacher as well as the student. It extensively uses modern technology for explaining the complex phenomena in Physics.
The Authers have called it Physlets i.e. Physics Applets.
The applets presented are highly interactive, and allow the student to interact and fully understand the behaviour changes by changing various parameters.
It gives an excellent grasp of the topic under discussion and also gives a sound understanding of the concepts using visual medium.
The authers need to be congratulated for their highly innovative and pioneering work simplifying the pedegogy of learning/teaching physics.
Large number of illustrative examples. The reader can develop his/her own Physlets.
Highly recommended.
