Comprehensive for a little-known area, Dec 6 2003
I find the book to be insightful, concise, and filled with well-resourced information. A must-have for the Classical Historian, Mythographer or Thanatologist.

Awesome for all ages!, April 27 2003
This book is mythologically rich (if you know where to look) and riveting...it's still one of my all time favorites and will be no matter how I old I am. For a story that has deep characters, heart-felt struggles, an element of [fear] and uplifting lessons for any child or adult dark at heart...this is the book!

EXCELLENT!, Mar 14 2003
A wonderful book for all ages...this is really NIx's best work in his Abhorsen series. Lirael is a character that captures bravery, integrity, vulnerablility and strength and blends them into a character that is concievably real...a beautiful and thrilling conclusion to a wonderful series! May there be many more to come!

Too cool!!!, Aug 25 2001
This deck is a MUST for any Catholic, Gnostic or Christo-Pagan Tarot reader! It's best to do some research on Saints and the Tarot before reading witht his deck (Since the book that comes with it is kinda vauge), but I highly recommend it for ANYONE with a love of the Saints and Christian mythos.

It's useful, but unethical, Aug 25 2001
When I first read this book, I was appalled at the authors ethics. Some spells that are listed and methods in the book are COMPLETELY unethical and will only lead the practitioner into trouble. BUT, it is a decent reference on how to use the Saints in magickal work. My advice is find a better book, but if you already own this one, keep it around as refernce. Nix the obviously unethical methods he uses.

It was okay., Aug 24 2001
I liked the idea of the book: it was a belief I had long held and was thrilled to pieces when I saw that there was some published material. This book holds some very good points and is very thought provoking...BUT, I think it could have been better researched, and alot of their "facts" were actually their theories, some of those theories were very flimsy at that. They often presented it like a novel or a work of fiction...while that might hold attention, it makes the reader wonder why they have to resort to those tactics in the first place. Get the book if you have a good historical, mythological and religious background. That will help you sort through the fact and the opinion.

Worth a Try, Aug 24 2001
This was the first book of Witchcraft I had ever owned, and once I was finished, I was insatiable for more knowledge. While this book is very general in some areas, it is excellent for the beginner who is coming into the Craft with a "know nothing" basis. (As I did) Some of her other books I don't really approve of, but as fluffy as this is, it's pretty darn good!

Nice Work!, Aug 24 2001
This is a goodie for those of you who have been on your path a little while. Though I suggest that beginners put this off until they have enough basic information on the Craft so they won't get confused, the rest of your should give it a shot. The practical information is very handy! :)

Too much theory, not enough evidence, Aug 24 2001
I couldn't even get through it. It wasn't that it was boring, but I found it to be historically questionable. She tends to use alot of theory where she should use fact and doesn't clearly explain what she should. Don't get it unless you already have a history of the Craft and of the Pagan religions it is based on. (There IS a difference between Pagan and Neo-Pagan, you know...)
