A wonderful ending to a wonderful series., Jun 7 2004
Once more,Mary Balogh uses one of her favourite metaphors to craft the perfect ending to one of the best series I've ever read.I refer to the mask, the everyday masks we all wear.In this case, the mask of the cold, haughty aristocrat, which was how His Grace of Bewcastle was perceived. That is why Mary's choice of matching him with Mrs.Derrick.Wulf needed someone who was his polar oppisite to strip away his perceived mask,to re- mind him that he was Wulfric Bedwyn. This series will be always remembered.

Another Mary Balogh great, May 1 2004
This is the fifth book in the wonderful Bedwyn ser- ies.Mary once more gives us a wonderful heroine in Miss Rachel York.I also loved the amnesia device,as it really gave Alleyne a chance to take really good look at himself&who Lord Alleyne Bedwyn truly is.I also loved the secondary characters. The "lad- ies" were four of the most genuine whores I ever ment&Mary has done a good job making such women genuine¬ stereotypes.

Seven years on,this book is even more relevent, Mar 12 2004
As a dedicated Sacred Harp singer,I would have to say that seven years on,Mr.Bealle's book is even more relevent in the wake of "Cold Mountain".I think that the addition of two Sacred Harp tunes to the soundtrack revitalised the Sacred Harp movement.I truly think that one must have a chance to go to a singing to really experience this wonderfully joyful music.

(+5 more stars) T-Bone Burnett has another winner here., Dec 22 2003
As a dedicated Sacred Harp singer for 8 years, and has sung with the Henegar folks including Cassie Franklin at our Annual All Day Singings in July here&with Cassie's Great Aunt,Miss Pauline Creel has come to sing at our monthly sings here in Kalamazoo,Michigan,I will say that the Henegar folks& Cassie did wonderfully on their cuts.I have never heard 282&47b done better. As for Jack White,if he usually sings another sort of music,I think he should do an acoustic album once in a while. Tim O'Brien&c also did a great job on their cuts.As for the re- viewer who complained that only Sting should sing his songs,I think his harmony part with Alison Krauss was great.Alison Krauss also did a fantastic job on her two songs.I would also like to reiterate what another reviewer said about finding out first hand about Sacred Harp by going to a singing in their area. For purchasers of this CD who live in the Southwestern Michigan area,we have our monthly singings on the third Sunday of every month&our Annual All Day Sing is on the Third Sunday in July, that will be the 18th in 2004.If you want to find a singing in your area directly,go to this web-site www.fasola.org T-Bone Burnett has another winner.Amen Hallelujah

A lovely Christmas anthology, Nov 12 2003
This is a lovely anthology of novellas by the Mistress of the Christmas novella.Four are some of her classics.I espec- ially loved "No Room At the Inn" which is one of the best retel- ling of the First Christmas ever written. This story revolves a- round a group of Christmas travelers stranded at an inn&their reactions to the arrival of a young poor couple traveling in search of work&the imminent birth of their child. The new story is all about an estranged couple who weren't left alone by the girl's mother after their arranged marriage.Because of this they were holding each other at arms length.I really loved this book.

This was an excellent overview of the beginnings of Egyptology&Victorian life and its mores.I especially loved the hithertofore undiscovered pages from Emerson's journal telling his side of the story of "Crocodile".

Powerful,Sacred Woman stuff.Wish I could give it 10 stars., Oct 1 2003
This is some her most powerful songwriting ever yet. This is some very powerful Sacred Woman stuff. When she writes, she writes well.It is also very spiritual, without being overtly so&I love music like that.

I love this series., May 14 2003
Mary has given her readers a wonderful family in the Bed- wyns.I know that some had their doubts when we were introduced to them in last summer's "A Summer To Remember",but as we are intro- duced to the family members one by one,we learn much about them. Lord Rannulf for instance is at first glance, the rebellious third son who was meant for the Church, but has refused any of his Eldest Brother's livings&now has what seems to a rakish rep,but that is not so as you will find out as you read the book.
