5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Poetry for Canadian Kids, Oct. 6 2005
This review is from: Alligator Pie (Hardcover)
These classic verses from Dennis Lee are absolutely necessary for every teacher's bookshelf! The poems roll off of your tongue, then keep bouncing around the room. Topics covered in rhyme include food kids hate, that special person at the day-care and skipping over sidewalk cracks. Dennis Lee is the Canadian Shel Silverstein. His work is both critically acclaimed and nationally beloved. This book deserves to be a prized export. In short, Alligator Pie is delicious!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous Illustrations of Great Animal Verses, Oct. 6 2005
As a teacher, I adored this book for my class! The poetry is fun, accessible and perfect for modeling. The illustrations are art lessons in themselves, beautifully demonstrating many excellent watercolor techniques, yet appear as vivid as acrylics, so children are instantly captivated. Best of all, both the pictures and verses are on a favorite topic of children everywhere: animals!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book for a New Big Brother!, Oct. 6 2005
This review is from: Daniel's Dog (Paperback)
Daniel has a new baby sister named Carrie. Now his mother doesn't have as much time for Daniel, so he copes by creating an imaginary dog to be his companion. Includes attractive illustrations of an African-American mother and her children, interacting in loving ways. As Daniel adapts to his growing family, we see him become an involved big brother and a compassionate friend. Highly recommended!
