5.0 out of 5 stars Extreme!, Oct. 9 2008
If you've seen and liked the A&E documentaries on this cold blooded killer, you will definitly enjoy this book. Its an excellent complement to the videos. There is a lot more stuff and details that obviously couldnt be revealed on tv. All seem pretty accurate and genuine, result of interviews with the famous mafia hitman himself.

This review is from: Dan In Real Life (Bilingual) (DVD)
Romantic comedies... as a manly man, I'm always sceptical about those.

But as a Steve Carell fan, I just had to check this one out. And even more so since he's paired with la magnifique Juliette Binoche. A combo from heaven! And the support cast is excellent also.

The storyline is a bit predictable but it is still very well written. Peter Hedges did an excellent job directing this movie, creating a perfect setting for this story.

If you like Unearth, this dvd is definitly worth buying! Features an excellent concert, well filmed. Those dudes are full of energy and give an awesome show. The 90 minutes documentary reminds me of those vulgar videos from Pantera. Actually, Vinnie Paul is interviewed on the dvd. There is a lot of fun anecdotes from the band and friends. Its just fun to watch!

5.0 out of 5 stars heavy and intricate, March 17 2008
This review is from: Obzen (Audio CD)
Already a classic in my mind! Heavy and intricate, everything you can expect from a Meshuggah album. But for this album, Meshuggah brings the sound quality to another level. This is THE best sounding Meshuggah album. There's a clarity to it that wasn't there before. The artwork is pretty cool too and there are lyrics in the booklet! yay!

5.0 out of 5 stars Odd and unexpected, Aug. 17 2007
This review is from: Enchantment (Audio CD)
Okay, so first you think what an odd and unexpected collaboration this is. But then, as soon as you listen, you quickly realize that these guys know how to make it work. The Enchantment is an amazing fusion of two styles, the bluegrassy banjo of Fleck falls in perfectly with Corea's precise jazz piano playing. Both musicians seem to feed each other's imagination and inspiration. Never a dull moment!

3.0 out of 5 stars Claypool is always good, July 16 2007
This is a great DVD that any fan of Primus / Les Claypool should get! A great selection of performances from a 2006 tour. It still plays like one show, no kidding around between performances. (some backstage Claypool would have been great)

Image is pretty good, the perspective is mostly from the audience. The sound is excellent but maybe not the perfect show to test your surround system.

So again, this is a must-have for fans of this amazing bassist and artist. You should also check out the Hallucinogenetic tour if you dont already have it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Upgrade your Nothing, June 2 2007
This review is from: Nothing (Dvd) (Audio CD)
The bad news is, if you're a Meshuggah fan, you're probably going to have to buy this album for the second time. The good news is that the bonus DVD is entirely worth it. Meshuggah is so good to see live, you have to get this!

This could have been released as a stand-alone dvd, I still don't understand why they had to re-release Nothing. They've remixed the album but I dont think that was necessary at all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Morello plays Dylan, April 23 2007
This review is from: One Man Revolution (Audio CD)
When you think about it, Rage Against The Machine were (or are) the Bob Dylans of their time. They use music as a mean of contestation, which is one of the caracteristic of folk music. On the other hand, the music of RATM and Audioslave doesn't have anything in common with folk. That's why it might be a little suprising to hear Tom Morello's one man revolution. The music is very similar to what Bob Dylan has done with the accoustic guitar and Morello's voice definitly reminds us of Leonard Cohen. Despite the contrast with this guitarist's previous works, One Man Revolution is an awesome album and will definitly be part of my summer's soundtrack.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy!, Jan. 31 2007
This band has been described as "Primus on crack". I can't think of a more apropriate description! But they are still very experimental in their own way so they are not a band exactly copying Primus. They also make me think of Don Caballero and The Velvet Teen. Definitly check this band out if you like band pushing boundaries in alternative music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Acoustic is good!, Jan. 26 2007
The Pixies are growing old... fortunatly they age so very well!

Indeed, doing an acoustic show is often a sign that a band is old. The wrinkles on Kim Deal's always so charming smile can also be a sign.

This set is perfect. I didnt notice any classic missing and they even play acoustic versions of songs that you wouldn't have tought could be arranged that way, like Crackity Jones.

I strongly suggest this DVD if you have been a Pixies fan back in the 90's or even 80's. Nostalgia and fun garantee!
