This book gives the reader a wonderful insight into the thought processes of children throughout early childhood. The winsome descriptions and psychological information combines well to give the reader a well-rounded view of early childhood. The clear examples given allow a parent to determine his child's developmental stage.

This book does what few childcare books do: reassures the parent that their child's natural developmental timing is OK. I used this book often to look at the great latitude in development at various ages. The descriptions of the babies and mothers' reactions to them are great.
