3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, But Not Original, Feb 27 2006
Having read "The Da Vinci Code", I was quite exited to dig into "Angels & Demons", Robert Langdon's first adventure. I found out, however, that I was reading the same book. Robert was yet again with a female "sidekick", the ending "twist" had the same elements, and the villian had the same mindset. Only the location and a few plot elements changed.

Having that being said, I would like to say that "Angels & Demons" is still an interesting read. Dan Brown seems to do his research while writing his novels, and since the chapters are short, I kept saying "Just one more chapter" as I read the book. I managed to finish it in two days.

Robert Langdon is awaken from his home in the United States due to a phone call by Dr. Kohler, the President of CERN, a Swiss science facility. There, Langdon sees the dead body of a CERN scientist with the word "Illuminati" burned onto his chest. Shortly thereafter, they discover one of the deadly projects the scientist was working on has gone missing; anitmatter. Anitmatter has the ability to power the continental United States with just one pound of it, or become the most dealy weapon ever made. Later, they discover that the canister is somewhere in The Vatican, the Illuminati's ultimate enemy.

If you already read "The Da Vinci Code", you can see the similarities. However, one of the things about Dan Brown is that he writes in such a way that we already know the outcome, we just want to see how it happens. "Angels & Demons" is well worth a read, but if you are new to Dan Brown, or, more importantly, Robert Langdon's universe, I strongly reccomend that you read "The Da Vinci Code" first, as that is a superiour novel and the ending won't be known before you start the second chapter.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Punk Rock Album Of All-Time, Dec 18 2004
This review is from: London Calling (Audio CD)
If you "like" punk rock, but you don't like The Clash, you're a tool. The people these days listening to "punk" bands like New Found Glory and Good Charolette are sad. That's not punk at all. Listen to Londing Calling. Now THAT'S PUNK.
I read a review on this album on Amazon, and couldn't agree more. Punk rock is about going against society, like wearing clothes that nobody else wears, and having little or no respect towards authority. Then you have bands like Good Charolette coming out and complaining that they're tired of people telling them that they're not punk. Guess what? You're not. You're POP rock, not punk. The only bands that come close to punk rock TODAY are: Sum 41 and Green Day. Sum 41 sounds nothing like The Clash, but they are deffinately punk. Just watch the "Cross Your T's and Gouge Your I's" DVD that comes with the "Does This Look Infected?" album to know what I mean. Then there's Green Day. They do at times sound like The Clash, plus they did a cover of "I Fought The Law".
Pretty sad, eh? People need to realize what punk rock is. If you pick this album up and like it, then you're a fan of punk rock. If not, You're a fan of pop, or you're a poser. Simple.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Compilation, But Songs Are Missing, Aug 9 2004
Well, let me start off by saying I am a huge Led Zeppelin fan. I own all of their CD'S (even "Presence" and "Coda"), but this "Best Of" compilation should've been called "The Most Popular Of Led Zeppelin", because all of the songs on this CD are their songs that have the most radio-play ("Stairway To Heaven" anyone?). I'm not saying that these songs are bad, but so much good music was left out. Why is it that the second CD only has ten songs? "Ramble On", "Fool In The Rain", "Hey Hey What Should I Do Now?" and "Misty Mountain Hop" are some of their best material, yet it wasn't put on the CD. I really wished that "Hey Hey What Should I Do?" was released, due to the fact that it was never released before. Overall, the CD has some of the greatest rock songs of all-time on it (highlights are "Stairway To Heaven", "When The Levee Breaks", "Kashmire" and "All My Love"), it's just a shame that so many songs didn'tget included.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not As Good As 'Untouchables', Dec 13 2003
This review is from: Follow The Leader (Audio CD)
'Follow The Leader' is a great CD. It has many great songs on it and is much heavier than 'Untouchables', but it isn't as good. 'Untouchables' was my first KoRn CD, then 'Follow The Leader', 'Issues', 'KoRn', 'Life Is Peachy' and now I finally got my hands on 'Take A Look In The Mirror'. I say that this CD is KoRn's third best album, falling behind 'Untouchables' and 'Take A Look In The Mirror'. Anyway, here's what I thought of each song:

Track 1-12: Empty.
13.It's On:Not a very good song.Don't know why this is the intro to the CD. 2/5
14.Freak On A Leash: A great song that starts off slow and builds up. 5/5
15.Got The Life: This should've been the intro. Excellent song. 5/5
16.Dead Bodies Everywhere: Song started off wierd, but I liked it. 4/5
17.Children Of The Korn:This song has a wicked good sound to it. I love it! 5/5
18.B.B.K: Yet another great song. It would have made a great single... 5/5
19.Pretty: Disturbing song, and not very good. I always skip it. 1/5

20.All In The Family: Funny song, but gets old fast. 3/5
21.Reclaim My Place: O.K song, but I never listen to it. 2/5
22.Justin: The chorus is good, that's about it. 2/5
23.Seed: Great chorus, but it moves too slow. 3/5
24.Cameltosis: Again, great chorus, but that's it. 3/5
25.My Gift To You: I never listen to this song. 1/5
Hidden Track: Earache My Eye: Never listen, but the beginning is funny. 2/5

3.0 out of 5 stars Way Too Long, Aug 26 2003
This review is from: Executive Orders (Hardcover)
After reading the shocking conclusion of Debt Of Honor, I couldn't wait to pick up this book and read it, but I was somewhat dissapointed with the outcome. The problem with this novel is, well, some of the stories don't really go anywhere. Take The Mountain Men for example, I din't see why they had to be in this novel, Tom Clancy just started to write it, then all of the sudden, he was writing like he thought 'Oh yeah, The Mountain Men. Almost forgot about them'. And I didn't really like the ending to this book either, it was like he was running behind scedule, so he tide-up everything in the last 2 chapters.

Other than that, I think that this was a good novel worthy of 3*'s/5*'s. Though not the greatest Tom Clancy novel, and one that definatley won't be a 'classic' like The Hunt For Red October, Debt Of Honor or Patriot Games, it's still pretty good.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read, Aug 18 2003
Tom Clancy's Debt Of Honor is a great book that I picked up at my library by chance. I was told to get a book, I couldn't find one then I saw Debt Of Honor. I heard that Tom Clancy's novels were long and complicated, but I picked it up anyway because of interest. I was glad I made that choice. The book is long and does get a little bit complicated at parts, but I still found the book a good read. I found it hard to put it down, so hard that I actually finished the book in 14 days. I'll have to admit, there are parts in the book that are kindof boring, an pointless, but it's all forgivable.
Since picking up this novel at my local library, I have read The Hunt For Red October, Red Rabbit, Excecutive Orders, The Sum Of All Fears and I'm in the midst of reading the long and somewhat dissapointing novel The Bear And The Dragon, and I'll put my favorite Tom Clancy books in this order:

1. The Hunt For Red October
2. Debt Of Honor
3. The Sum Of All Fears
4. Excecutive Orders
5. Red Rabbit

Go and read this book, it's well worth the it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Clancy's finest hour., Feb 2 2003
This review is from: Red Rabbit (Hardcover)
I have to admit, I wasn't looking foreward to reading the novel after all of the negative reviews on amazon.com, but it wasn't that bad. It's probably the worst book in the series, it moves rather slowly, and it wasn't really neccisary in the Jack Ryan timeline, but it was kind of interesting. If your bored or you have nothing to do, read the book. I won't read it again, this would probably the last book in the series that I would read twice (followed closely by THE BEAR AND THE DRAGON).
