I think that this movie really caught the essence of Ed Wood. His peculiar habits and mannerisms, his somewhat strange relationships and his movies. Being a Bela Lugosi fan, I really like Martin Landau's portrayal of Lugosi as he is shown as a struggling actor who once was great but not in demand anymore. The movie also shows Ed's attempts to bring special effects into his films which was fun to watch. Also there are nice special features on this dvd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some good stories ........, June 1 2014

There are some good stories in this collection. Some of the stories are not so good, and this collection has a decent variety of stories. So far Ive read about seventy percent of them, and most are entertaining. This is a good collection with good value, particularly if you can pick it up cheap (which I did).

This was a hilarious comedy. Fred Gwynne, Al Lewis, Joe Ross and I think Captain Block was played by Paul Reed. I was too young to remember this show but I knew that Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis were in it. I just purchased the Munsters complete set before this, so I utubed a little of this series just to see what it would be like.

It's funny, tasteful, with great scripts and character development. Fred Gwynne is great as the cultured and intelligent Muldoon who always seems to be dragged down to the mentality level of Toody. Joe E. Ross as Toody is probably the funniest part of the show. Captain Block's exasperation (particularly with Toody) is classic! Al Lewis is funny just from his facial expressions. Yes it's corny, and dated. In fact it's so dated that it's charming (if that makes any sense). I'm very pleased to have both seasons of this wonderful series as part of my DVD collection.

I do agree with previous reviewers about the packaging being not very good. The actual DVD boxes are good, but the way the discs are packaged is horrible. However, here I'm rating just the show. If you like comedies and don't have this in your collection or have never seen it, don't even hesitate, Oooo..... Oooo..... just buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good ........., Aug. 1 2013

I think this is a very good version of Frankenstein. It feels more like watching a stage play than a movie. The effects are very low key and muted, but this actually adds to the acting and story. Robert Foxworth brings a certain energy to the role as the Doctor. Bo Svenson gives the monster a sympathetic, childlike quality in spite of some of his horrific actions. It differs from the novel in certain ways, but this does not take away or lessen the story.

If you like the story of Frankenstein in all it's forms, i.e. Boris Karloff, Christopher Lee, Michael Sazarin to name a few, then I think that you will enjoy this. It is moody, atmospheric, with good simple sets, and good acting.

This is a darker, grittier version than Kevin Costner's. I still really like the Kevin Costner version. I like the idea in this version of Saxons and Normans as the two opponents. Patrick Bergen is good as Robin Hood. Jurgen Prochnow (if I spell his name correctly) is excellent as the villain Sir Miles Falconet. There is action and an intelligent plot that keeps the story moving along at a fast pace. I enjoy owning both this and the Kevin Costner version as they make two nice comparisons and differences.

Very well done, stylish and I would even say innovative, creative twist on vampire stories. What I thought was great was the idea that the vampires could actually be out during the daytime but suffered greatly in direct sunlight. Lance Henrikson and Bill Paxton were great as vampires. The movie's violence and action was well done and not too gory, and added to the suspense of the story. A refreshing, creative view of vampires as these age old beings that are super strong but at the sametime very fragile in certain ways. The hero as a young man was gullible and gets drawn into the group of vampires, and shows courage as he interacts with this evil group. All in all, a very good vampire film, which differs in a refreshing way compared to the Bela Lugosi and John Carradine portrayals of long ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong, solid sequel to the Hustler ......, June 22 2013

This is a great sequel to the Hustler. Paul Newman returns older, more experienced, wiser, and jaded. Tom Cruise is young, cocky, and Flaky. His flakiness is part of what makes him so good. Elizabeth M. is sexy, confident, and intelligent. These three actors combine to support and move along a very solid storyline that is never boring and always entertains. Again, like the Huster, the pool shooting scenes are just great. This one of course was shot in color, so there is some old nostalgic movie loss.

But still, this is a great, strong sequel to the Hustler. Best watched one right after the other. Could also be enjoyed alone, because I think that both movies can stand on their own as individual stories. Anyway, lots of fun, and if you can pick it up in the eight to ten dollar range, worth it and then some.

Really the only way to describe this movie. I saw it when I was a kid and it was one of those movies that stuck with me. To me, over the years it's one of those films that gains an iconic status, like Ben Hur for example. I guess that part of the charm and appeal is the black and white timeless silver screen feel it has to it. I think that this is the role I will always remember Jackie Gleason for. George C. Scott plays a good villain. And Paul Newman is sort of like Brando in a Street Car Named Desire in that you are seeing him with so much energy and presence. The pool shooting scenes were fantastic. And the fact that it is an old movie filmed in black and white makes it that much more appealing.

I picked this dvd up on Amazon for next to nothing, and it has tremendous back for the buck. A wonderful addition to any dvd collection, particularly if you like old movies.

I didn't mind this series. Some of the history about the Samurai was good. Some of the narratives were ok, the history of Musashi was nicely covered. I wish they had covered more about Samurai armor and weapons, though they did cover this also. Again, not bad, but I think they could have gone a little more in depth in certain areas.

I remembered this series along time ago. Also being a Logan's Run fan I just had to have this series. Yes it is silly, dated, laughable by today's standards, but that is part of what makes it so much fun. Gil Gerard had a certain presence and charm as the hero. Erin Gray was good in a supporting role. Dr. Theopolis and Tweekie were just silly but added to the story. The nice thing about owning this series is that one can pull it out anytime and watch it. This series had a good amount of action, certainly was not overly violent or gory, and was entertaining at times.
