looking for good college ckick lit, Sep 18 2007
I had really high hopes for this book, I was looking for good chick lit set in college as a lot of chick lit is like 30 somethings (like bridget jones or shopaholics) which are great books too but I like younger fresher characters too. On top of which the author of this book was actually in university when she wrote it (in Yale!) so I really expected something great...I was a little let down.
This book is less about the fun and relationships of college as it is a discussion of the main character's writing talent. The main character is also not as likeable as I would have hoped. I recently read a book called 'other than studying' that does a better job of the college girl theme, in ots there are at least some of the things i was looking for from chloe, like a better feel for the characters, it's also more fun and takes itself less seriously. In chloe you get the feeling that the author keeps telling you she is great, and goes to yale, and is sexually daring.
All in all it was still an ok read and pretty light and easy...if you go even younger to highschool chick lit i suggest something like 'sloppy firsts' instead...or you could take out chloe from the library and that way avoid paying for it if it turns out you don't end up liking it.
