4.0 out of 5 stars The Black/White Problem in the Southern U.S during the 1960's, March 11 2012
This review is from: The Help (Bilingual) (DVD)
I really enjoyed this book! Very well written and keeps the reader glued to her chair!!It shows clearly the dreadful bigotry in the southern U.S at this time. The reader becomes quite close to the characters, and can truly identify with their problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly Excellent Movie!!, May 21 2011
This review is from: The King's Speech (DVD)
I found the script excellent and of course ALL the Actors were superb!! I lived through WW11, (my husband was a Navy Vet) and, at the time I was impressed with GeorgeV1 and Queen Elizabeth. I had no idea that he had a stuttering problem, so this movie was an eye-opener. And based on the true diaries of the Speech Therapist!!TERRIFFIC!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Little British Ham!!, Oct. 21 2009
I enjoyed this film although it was typically far-out Brit Humour! Colin Firth and Rupert Everett were superb, but some of the girl students were certainly hammy, which I found tiresome.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great Canadian War Movie, March 10 2009
This review is from: Passchendaele [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
I really athought this Movie was very well done. Granted, it is a War Movie about a War we seem to know little about, and it is certainly time that Canadians learned how very important their War effort was....and is!!
The War Scenes were certainly gruesome, but true...... the romance was very sweet and touching.

The Hour of the Pig
The Hour of the Pig

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent acting in a Medieval "Who Dunnit", Jan. 30 2005
This review is from: The Hour of the Pig (VHS Tape)
This story is based on a true incident that occurred in Medieval France. In those times, an animal could be tried, convicted, and executed for murder! A very large pig is the suspect, and Colin was wonderful as the lawyer defending the animal, There are also
dark undercurrents of unsolved murders which I found quite gripping and exciting. The viewer will have to get accustomed to the unusual costumes (wearing apparel) of that time. As usual, Colin Firth does a great job, he even became friendly with this monster pig!!!
