This is simply one of the most enlightening books about school leadership that I have ever read. Evans claims to base his ideas on his experience working with leaders in over 1200 schools, and this is readily apparent in his astute observations and insights. Not only are his thoughts especially valuable to anyone who is considering a move into a school leadership role, but they are important reminders to veteran administrators about realistic expectations and the challenges of leadership. I have read and re-read the book and every time, I find new truths and thought-provoking insight. An excellent read.

Over the past year, I have purchased a number of professional resources on the topic of literacy instruction, including more well-known books by Patricia Cunningham, Fountas and Pinnell and Tony Stead. This book is the one I turn to most often for straight-forward, research-based information and guidance. Although I'm uncertain as to whether or not it is a requisite resource for teachers in training, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were a staple in universities and colleges. It's not the "lightest" read at times, but it's concise, clear and offers exactly what the title promises.

This album has been in my CD player for over two months and I have no intention of removing it anytime soon. The harmonies of these women are simply out of this world. I've seen them play at two Canadian folk festivals so far and they are every bit as good live. This is a real gem to add to your CD collection.

I own many Roch Voisine albums but this collection is my absolute favourite. It showcases his voice to its fullest, and the power of his vocals shines through in both English and French.
If you've just discovered Roch and are wondering which of his CDs to purchase, this one is your best bet.

This book is an absolute gem. My family's favourite recipes include the salsa meatloaf, blueberry oat bran muffins, porcini mushroom bisque and the double chocolate cookies. Anne Lindsay knows what she's talking about when it comes to nutrition and healthy lifestyle, and she fills her cookbooks with practical tidbits of advice and information. This cookbook is definitely one of my favourites.
