Wonderfully written by a talented storyteller, Dec 10 2012
Despite having never lived outside of Ontario before, I'd never heard of James Bartleman before. I picked up the book at my local library because the description captivated me. I was so taken by the writing and the story that I ended up finishing the book in only two days. I couldn't put it down. Bartleman manages to intertwine every character's story, no matter how small the part. There's no such thing as a flat character. By the end of the book, you understand why characters react the way they do. I'm excited to read more of his stories.

Hooked, May 18 2012
This book deals with LGBTQ, finding yourself, high school, friendship, family life beautifully. It's full of sarcasm and satire. I rated it four stars because, while I highly enjoyed the writing style, I found myself really unsure of the the first Will Grayson's character. I wish it were more developed. I thought that I couldn't see as deeply into his life as I could with the second Will Grayson's. All in all, a very original style with excellent writing.

Yes, it's cliche, May 16 2012
We get it. The book is built on cliches. It quotes banned books. It talks about cheesy moments. And somewhere, deep down, it probably reminded us of our high school days. Unlike some of the negative reviews, I enjoyed the way that Charlie changed. It showed that he wasn't a static, boring kid. Yes, we change our minds. We change our personalities to fit situations. I really enjoyed this novel. I wasn't bored by it at any moment because Charlie seemed so normal, and so real. I'm not terribly excited by the movie because it's rated PG-13, and that means that they're going to cut out most of the good parts.

My First John Green Book, May 16 2012
This is my first John Green book. I was recommended not to read this one first, but I read it anyway (and still want to read more of his books). I thought the characters were very well developed, and the hints of trivia just added to the fun. I'm excited to read more. This book contains mentions of drinking, swearing and sexuality. It's most appropriate for those in high school, recent graduates, and older.

Couldn't put the book down!, May 1 2012
I read this book from cover to cover in a single night because I was so into it. I loved the alternating viewpoints, and the way that this book is entirely possible. I loved the style of writing, and found myself hanging onto the book a little tighter at the very end of it. I'm interested in reading more by this author.

This story didn't go anywhere, May 1 2012
I was excited to read "The Summer of My Amazing Luck," as I'd previously read (and highly enjoyed) A Complicated Kindness. A few pages in, I found myself confused by what was going on. There was no plot, no direction, and nothing to keep me reading. I didn't feel any connection to the characters. This is the type of book that I normally go for: Something dark, edgy, and about people who don't "fit in" with the mainstream. I put the book down, disappointed. I like Toews' style of writing, and was drawn to this book because it was so Canadian.

Couldn't put the book down, April 26 2012
I was recommended this book after reading Pop by Gordon Korman, and was not disappointed. This is a very light read, and I ended up finishing the entire novel in one sitting. The setting is unrealistic, and the situation is highly unlikely. All the same, Gordon Korman's wit and fantastic storytelling shine through. I very much enjoyed the plot, and the idea that an unlikely person can become a hero of sorts.

Fascinating-- And I'm hardly a football fan!, April 26 2012
A librarian recommended this book to me. I was hesitant on the subject matter, but like other reviewers, I quickly got sucked into the characters. Gordon Korman has an incredible, unique style of writing that leaves lots to the imagination. I couldn't put this book down. Highly recommend!

Another great read by Anderson, April 26 2012
I don't remember being into this book as I remember being into Speak, but I found the author's language and narrative compelling. Definitely a good read for a young adult.

Favourite novel, April 26 2012
This was probably my favourite book that I read all year during grade eight. I found that it helped me learn to research more about things like sexual abuse, drugs, and rape.
