Night Train by Amis, Martin [Paperback]

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Author, Bad Book, May 10 2002
I was looking forward to Amis' novel, unfortunately this book didn't live up to its predecessors. You'd be better off not reading this novel by Amis, it my sour you from reading any of his other novels.

The Martini Shot

5.0 out of 5 stars A good start for this Iowa Workshop Grad, May 10 2002
This review is from: The Martini Shot (Paperback)
This was an enjoying tale of Hollywood. Enough has already been said. But my concern is now that he hasn't written about something he knows well, will there be a follow. It has been about three years now and no news over a sophmore book.

2.0 out of 5 stars It started out well, but it ran out of steam, May 8 2002

I liked the voice of the novel, but unfortunately I lost interest very quickly at page 140.

MISS WYOMING (UNABR.) (6 CASS.)
by Douglas Coupland

Price: CDN$ 33.56

4.0 out of 5 stars If you like Gen X, you will also enjoy this book, May 8 2002
Coupland's fresh look at Hollywood is quite entertaining. Here is a book that can be read on two levels: 1. A beach read, and read as is, or 2. Or the complex interworkings of the human psyche.

4.0 out of 5 stars Promising, but lost steam, May 8 2002
This review is from: Stars Screaming (Paperback)
Kaye's first novel is rich with character description. It weaves together an interesting plot. It is powerful, but at the same time it is missing something...

5.0 out of 5 stars Ambitious, May 8 2002
This review is from: London Fields (Paperback)
This is a book that challenges its readers. When you finish this novel you feel as if you have completed something. It is often times confusing and hard to read, but the language is fantastic. The story allows you to really dig deep inside the minds of the characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not as well written as London Fields, but still very good., May 8 2002
This review is from: The Rachel Papers (Paperback)
This was Amis' first novel. It was an interesting tale of a twenty year old. I wasn't sure whether it should be 3, 4, or 5 stars. I guess I made it five becuase there was a distinct voice here and can be looked at, and psychologically deduced at, on many levels.
